British metalcore outfit Sylosis released their newest album The New Flesh and to celebrate they put out the new single “Spared From The Guillotine” along with a new music video.
With the new album out today, the band released a statement about how stoked they are to finally let everyone hear their new offering.
“The New Flesh is now out in the world and we could not be happier with what we have created here. It is our heaviest, yet most diverse and collaborative record to date. We’ve already been playing a bunch of these songs live and it’s been amazing to see the crowd respond to the songs so positively.
“Today, we will celebrate the release in London with a full band Q&A/signing session at The Black Heart, then play the biggest headline show of our career at O2 Forum Kentish Town. It really feels like a step up for the band. We can not wait to see everyone.
“Huge thank you to our team for helping get this album out there, and to all of our fans, old and new, thank you so much for your support over the years. A new era starts today.”

Did Fred Durst Seriously Offer To Sing On The New Van Halen Record?
Publicly, yes. Durst responded “let’s go!! I’m ready” after news surfaced that Alex Van Halen and Steve Lukather are still searching for the right vocalist.
TL;DR:
Fred Durst signals willingness to front new Van Halen project Alex Van Halen confirms vocalist search remains open Album built from unfinished Eddie Van Halen recordings Durst’s name revives infamous Eddie Van Halen confrontation story Fans divided over the possibility
Sometimes rock news writes headlines you’d swear were satire.
This is not satire.
Fred Durst has openly expressed readiness to sing on the new Van Halen record.
And if that sentence made you pause — good. It should.
Alex Van Halen has been carefully assembling a project drawn from unreleased and unfinished Van Halen recordings, originally intended to evolve into the band’s next studio album before Eddie Van Halen’s passing in 2020.
Rather than releasing rough demos, Alex made the band’s position clear:
Quality or nothing.
According to Alex:
• Drums recorded • Guitar recorded • Bass recorded (largely by Wolfgang Van Halen) • Missing element → Vocalist
The mission isn’t nostalgia.
It’s completion.
Steve Lukather’s Role In The Reconstruction
To help bring coherence and structure to the material, Alex enlisted Steve Lukather — a longtime friend of Eddie Van Halen and a musician uniquely equipped to handle delicate legacy work.
Alex described Lukather as “the connective tissue.”
Translation:
The glue. The spackle. The guy who can see the full architecture.
The Vocalist Question Looms Large
Alex previously revealed that Paul Rodgers had been a dream candidate — an idea rooted in shared musical lineage and mutual respect.
Rodgers declined.
Respectfully.
Which leaves one of the most loaded vacancies in rock.
Enter Fred Durst (Unexpectedly)
After reports circulated that Alex and Lukather were actively searching for a vocalist, Durst publicly chimed in:
“Let’s go!! I’m ready.”
Short. Explosive. Internet-detonating.
Because Fred Durst + Van Halen is not exactly a pairing fans had on their bingo cards.
Why This Isn’t Just Random Internet Noise
Durst’s name carries a bizarre and deeply mythologized connection to Eddie Van Halen himself.
A story that has lived for years in rock folklore.
The Infamous Eddie Van Halen / Fred Durst Incident
Accounts detailed in Eruption In The Canyon describe Eddie Van Halen jamming with Limp Bizkit in the early 2000s — an interaction that reportedly soured quickly amid lifestyle clashes.
Then came the now-legendary retrieval mission.
Eddie allegedly drove an assault vehicle to a Beverly Hills residence, exited armed, and confronted Durst over abandoned gear.
It’s a story so absurdly rock ‘n’ roll it barely feels real.
Yet it persists — cited, debated, dissected.
And now, decades later…
Durst is volunteering to step into Eddie’s musical shadow.
The Irony Is Almost Too Perfect
A frontman once linked to one of Eddie Van Halen’s wildest offstage tales…
Now expressing interest in singing on a Van Halen record built from Eddie’s final recordings.
Rock history has a twisted sense of humor.
Fan Reactions? Predictably Volcanic
The mere suggestion sparks instant polarity:
“This could be insane” “Absolutely not” “Wait… what?”
Because Van Halen’s vocalist legacy isn’t just sacred — it’s fiercely tribal.
David Lee Roth Sammy Hagar Gary Cherone
Each era defined by a distinct identity.
Fred Durst represents something entirely different.
Could This Actually Happen?
Realistically?
Highly uncertain.
Alex Van Halen has emphasized finding someone aligned with the band’s musical DNA and generational experience.
Durst’s comment reads more like enthusiasm than confirmation.
But the fact we’re even discussing it…
That’s the story.
Why This Moment Matters
Because it highlights:
• The gravity of the Van Halen vocalist search • The enduring cultural pull of Eddie Van Halen’s legacy • Rock’s ability to generate surreal, unpredictable narratives
And perhaps most importantly:
How unfinished Van Halen music continues to cast ripples across generations of artists.
FAQ
Is Fred Durst officially joining Van Halen? No. He publicly expressed readiness, but no confirmation exists.
Is Alex Van Halen making a new Van Halen album? Yes — built from previously unfinished recordings.
Who played bass on the recordings? Mostly Wolfgang Van Halen.
Was Paul Rodgers considered? Yes, but he declined.
Did Eddie Van Halen really confront Fred Durst? The story has been widely reported in rock literature, though debated like many legendary anecdotes.
Van Halen Bio
Van Halen redefined hard rock through Eddie Van Halen’s revolutionary guitar work, Alex Van Halen’s explosive drumming, and a catalog that fused virtuosity with arena-sized hooks. Across multiple vocalist eras, the band became one of rock’s most commercially successful and musically influential forces, earning Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction and reshaping modern guitar playing forever.
Vreid & Djerv have joined forces for a stellar new track and invited Jackass star Chris Pontius to be the star of its madcap music video.
The song itself is called ‘Loving The Dead’, and is a collaboration a long time in the making. A hard-rocking, atmospherically bold, expansively grand piece of modern heavy music, littered with soaring melodies and danceable hooks, it’s a curious combination of styles and personalities. Building from glistening discoball hooks to scorching banshee howls, all perfectly delivered by vocalist Agnete Kjølsrud, it’s a forward-thinking bop for the ages.
And then there is the video. Taking Chris Pontius from the bar to the church, allowing him the space he needs to dance – a dance that has been seen by everyone who has ever had a passing interest in Jackass – his personality shines through brilliantly.
Vreid’s Jarle Kvåle had this to say about the creation, stating, “We wanted to create something cinematic and unexpected. Not just a performance video, but a visual journey.”
And Pontius had this to add about his display, simply saying, ““t didn’t feel strange at all. It felt natural.”
In Jackass news, it’s been confirmed that a new movie is coming out this Summer. Jackass 5 will be released on June 26, where Pontius will surely be showing off his dance moves even more.
