Steve Perry Shuts Down Journey Reunion Rumors
Next week, classic rock battleship Journey will head off on a very long farewell tour, but it’s still not entirely clear who will be in the band. Journey’s internal conflicts are the stuff of legend, and fans have speculated that longtime keyboardist Jonathan Cain and singer Arnel Pineda won’t be part of the tour. The Pineda problem is bigger than disputes between band members; he’s facing domestic violence charges in the Philippines. I’m sure there are plenty of fans, as well as at least one Journey member, who wish that they could just patch things up with classic-era singer Steve Perry, but Perry says that’s not happening.

Sweet Pill Release Beautiful New Track ‘Smoke Screen’
Sweet Pill are heading swiftly towards the release of their new album ‘If There’s A Glow’ with another lovely little taster of it.

‘Smoke Screen’ is its name, and it’s really beautiful, to say the least. A blend of twinkly emo refrains and soaring melodies, it is everything that the band have mastered all unleashed in one sharp burst. It’s gorgeously constructed, wonderfully off-kilter and brimming with the sort of twists and turns that stick to your frontal lobe for weeks on end.
Vocalist Zayna Youssef had this to say about the song, explaining, “This song is sorta like the inner monologue of battling your self-doubt. The album has a lot of lyrics about burning or any sort of thing associated with fire: ‘Sun Blind’ mentions a sun, ‘Glow’ references haze, ‘Slow Burn’ with cigarettes and literally slow burning! For ‘Smoke Screen,’ I see myself being destructive like fire, not easy to contain and ruining everything I touch, spreading fast. Sometimes we need to slow down and clear the voices out of our head. Or in this case, blow away the smoke screen and have a little clarity. So unlike ‘Glow,’ where I want to be blanketed in ignorance, ‘Smoke Screen’ has this yearn to get out of the smoke and open my eyes.”
‘If There’s A Glow’ is set for release on March 13 via Hopeless Records.
In the build-up, the band have shared a collection of clips from a show called ‘Sweet TV After Dark’, hosted by Crazy Dan. A familiar face, don’t you think?
Here they are performing their track ‘Slow Burn’ on that very show, too.The post Sweet Pill Release Beautiful New Track ‘Smoke Screen’ appeared first on Rock Sound.
