  • JOE SATRIANI And STEVE VAI Announce 2026 North American SATCHVAI Band Tour

Satchvai, the newly formed supergroup featuring guitar icons Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, has confirmed a 2026 North American tour. They’ll be joined by drummer Kenny Aronoff, bassist Marco Mendoza, and guitarist Pete Thorn for a 40-date spring run titled Surfing With The Hydra. The trek begins April 1 in Seattle and wraps up on May 30 in Vienna, Virginia. Support for the entire tour will come from Animals As Leaders.

A Live Nation pre-sale for most dates opens Thursday, December 11 at 10 a.m. local time for All Access members. The general on-sale follows on Friday, December 12 at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.

This marks the first time in nearly five decades of friendship that Satriani and Vai have officially united as a full band. Audiences can anticipate new material from the forthcoming Satchvai album, in addition to live favorites from their long history of collaboration.

Satriani shared his excitement, saying: “The SATCHVAI band rides again! After a fantastic European tour last summer Steve, Kenny, Marco, Pete and I will bring the ‘Surfing With The Hydra‘ tour to the U.S. We can’t wait to play you the new material from our forthcoming Satchvai album along with your favorite songs from our shared catalog. And that’s not all, we’re bringing along the incomparable Animals As Leaders. You do not want to miss this show with this lineup!”

Vai reflected on their recent run as well, adding: “The SATCHVAI band summer Euro tour of 2025 far exceeded anything I could have imagined. Joe and I struck pure jammin’ gold night after night. Being in the same band with Joe, playing songs we actually wrote together on stage, in real time felt like watching a childhood fantasy step out of my teenage brain and stroll onto the stage. And somehow, it was even more rewarding, satisfying, and downright fulfilling than I ever thought possible.”

IOTUNN was for me the best kept secret in the Danish metal scene, so I am grateful that I got to work with these fine lads. Their no-compromise songs and meticulously crafted atmospheric parts really transported me to distant galaxies.” – Jacob Hansen (producer Volbeat, Evergrey, Asinhell)

After all these years, IOTUNN is one of those rare bands that still gives me the chills. With the release of their fabulous album Access All Worlds in 2021, I was introduced to a musical adventure on familiar grounds but yet so refreshing, unique and powerful! With the new album, they evolve and solidify their musical grounds, and pull me even further into their vast and wondrous soundscapes. The distinct signature sound, brilliant songwriting, stunning vocals, and superb production makes this album a breathtaking journey for all those who seek adventurous and powerful music. Music bigger than life, music beyond this world. What a stellar album!” – Øystein G. Brun, Borknagar

I am heavily into the Danish band IOTUNN these days. I have seen them labelled as melodic death metal, but in my head progressive extreme metal is more fitting. A particularly amazing aspect is the clean vocals (makes me think of another favorite of mine, Hamferd). And yes, they are fellow travellers on the Norse path!” – Ivar Bjornsson, Enslaved

IOTUNN is a band I’ve known for almost ten years with whom I’ve developed a good friendship. They create great songs with good energy, catchy melodies, and solos. With Arcturus, I’ve played with them and I have good insight into how they work which is very professional and with lots of passion. They’re just a great band that delivers both on record and stage” – Knut M. Valle, Arcturus

  • THE WHO Sir ROGER DALTREY Is Awarded His Knighthood By The Prince of Wales

The Who frontman Sir Roger Daltrey received his knighthood on Wednesday during a ceremony at Windsor Castle, where The Prince of Wales presented the honor.

At 81, Daltrey — known for classic songs like “My Generation” and “Baba O’Riley” — was named a knight bachelor in The King’s Birthday Honors list in June, recognizing his contributions to music and his extensive charitable work.

Beyond his decades-long influence as a performer, Daltrey has been a dedicated supporter of the Teenage Cancer Trust since 2000. He helped launch and lead the annual concert series at London’s Royal Albert Hall from 2000 through 2025. These events have generated more than £32 million and played a key role in the creation of 28 specialized units within the NHS.

Daltrey has spoken openly about what the recognition means to him. He previously explained that he felt “deeply honored” to be appointed a knight bachelor as part of The King’s Birthday Honors.

He commented: “It’s a wonderful honor for me, and especially for Teenage Cancer Trust. I accept this award not only for myself but on behalf of all the unsung heroes who have given their energy towards making the Teenage Cancer Trust the success it has become.”

He continued by acknowledging those who helped elevate the organization, noting that “the likes of The Who and their fans, Angie Jenkison, Lindsay Hughes, Des Murphy, Rob Ballantine and the late Chris York are some of many who have done so much to elevate the charity, to the point where it now has 28 specialist units in NHS hospitals across the U.K.”

Photos from the ceremony can be viewed on the Daily Mail website.

  • SOEN Unleash Music Video For Powerful New Single “Discordia”

Soen has released the evocative third single, “Discordia,” from their forthcoming new studio album, Reliance, set for release on January 16 via Silver Lining Music.

Soen is a band that can tear your flesh apart with sheer power and moments later, balm the pain with beautiful melodies, and the new single “Discordia” is no exception. It takes the listener on a musical exploration, juxtaposing lush somber moments with crushing waves of relentless propulsion.

“‘Discordia’ is the result of us pushing ourselves into different territories both sonically and emotionally,” comments founding member and drummer Martin Lopez. “We experimented with darker textures to capture the descent from self-protection into isolation.”

“The song sits in the tension between wanting connection and building walls to avoid pain. It’s a piece born from vulnerability, and from our willingness to explore the uncomfortable corners of our sound,” furthers vocalist and frontman Joel Ekelöf.

    For pre-orders, go here.

With Reliance, their seventh full-length record, the Swedish progressive metal group—led by Joel Ekelöf on vocals and Martin Lopez on drums—continues to explore the emotional and sonic space between light and shadow, intensity and calmness, weight and melody.

At the core of the album lies a sense of honesty, where emotional depth and raw energy coexist without pretense. This dual nature defines Soen’s signature sound: confronting darkness not for drama, but for understanding. That essence is especially vivid on “Mercenary”, a song that captures the burden of inherited violence and the emotional toll of conviction with piercing clarity.

Ekelöf explains: “”Mercenary” is about the violence we inherit, which then sees hatred seeping into lives — and life — which in turn shapes generations.”

Lopez expands on the song’s meaning, adding: “It also addresses betrayal, about how that can see us crowning vultures into kings.”

Ekelöf continues: “At its heart, “Mercenary” speaks to the cost of belief,” while Lopez concludes, “Musically, it carries the essence of Soen — heavy yet melodic and built on power and precision.”

Reliance will be released in multiple formats, including CD, 12-inch vinyl in both black and colored editions, digital platforms, and exclusive direct-to-consumer bundles.

  • AMON AMARTH & DETHKLOK Announce Co-Headlining North American Tour

Swedish metal titans Amon Amarth will join forces with Dethklok for an extensive co-headliner tour across North America in Spring 2026, with special guests Castle Rat – bringing a night of pure theater and over-the-top heavy metal entertainment.

The run will be the biggest raids of the year with the two titan-sized bands co-billing for the first time. Amon Amarth have honoured the adventurous ethos of their Viking forebears by taking their music anywhere and everywhere, and are regarded as one of metal’s most vital and imperious live acts. Now hot off the back of a busy year across the tumultuous high seas supporting Slayer in the U.K. and their U.S. takeover with Pantera, these upcoming dates see the voracious quintet bringing an all-new theatrical stage production for an extended set.

Amon Amarth declares, “Three bands—one night. The strong will scream. The weak will fall. Limbs will be lost. We will crush skulls beneath our boots and tear the halls down stone by stone. This is not a concert. It is a reckoning. If you survive… perhaps the gods have other plans for you.”

Dethklok celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2026, marking two decades since the premiere of Metalocalypse on Adult Swim. As one of the most essential musical multimedia acts ever, Dethklok is both an animated phenomenon and a live metal juggernaut, combining intense musicianship with breakneck cinematic theatricality. Bringing the beloved larger-than-life characters of Dethklok to life once again will be Metalocalypse mastermind Brendon Small on guitar and vocals, legendary extreme metal drummer Gene Hoglan (DeathDark AngelTestament), bassist Pete Griffin (Steve VaiPaul GilbertZakk Wylde), and guitar shredder Nili Brosh (Danny Elfman).

“We have to celebrate our 20th anniversary,” says Small. “And what a killer way to do it, with Amon Amarth and Castle Rat, who embody theatrical heavy metal.” The tour promises nothing less than total sensory immersion. “We’re going to entertain you as hard as we possibly can with the power of heavy metal in many kinds of ways, and many different iterations – from Viking battleships to Castle Rat to Dethklok with our music and fast-paced, insane animation,” says Small. The balance between brutality, comedy, and surprise defines the Dethklok live experience. “We challenge ourselves to get in as much material without wearing out our welcome,” the frontman explains. “We also get to be funny.”

Fantastical heavy metal band Castle Rat are thrilled to join as special guests each night. The Rat Queen heralds, “On the heels of the Vernal Equinox, our adjacent universes shall align as we bring .•.The Realm.•. of Castle Rat into battle alongside venerable vikings, Amon Amarth, and Metalocalypse metal-masters, Dethklok! Join us, as we seek to expand and defend .•.The Realm.•. from our arch nemesis: Death, Herself – The Rat Reaperess!”

Slaughter To Prevail has revealed plans for a North American headlining tour in spring 2026. The group will be joined by Whitechapel and Attila, making the month-long run a notable lineup for heavy music fans. The tour begins on March 21 in Nashville before moving through cities such as Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, and Chicago, with additional stops expected. Tickets and VIP options will be available on Friday, December 12 at 10 a.m. local time.

Over the summer, Slaughter To Prevail released Grizzly, described as their most punishing release to date and latest via Sumerian Records.” The album reached the top of the Hard Music Chart and secured “the No. 3 spot on both Current Rock Albums and Emerging Artists.”

Slaughter To Prevail continues to expand the boundaries of heavy music. The band continues delivering unapologetically hard modern metal while smashing expectations, and becoming one of the most talked about bands in heavy music in the process. With more than 1.5 million monthly Spotify listeners, the group is arguably the highest streaming band in extreme music, a status reflected in their increasingly large crowds. Their shows regularly fill major venues, and they recently drew widespread attention for leading “a record-breaking wall of death at France’s Hellfest.”

Slaughter To Prevail was formed through the collaboration of vocalist Alex Terrible and guitarist Jack Simmons. The group erupted on to the scene with a sound so ferocious it instantly carved out a loyal global following. What started as a raw idea developed into what the article describes as “a full-scale metal powerhouse,” with the band’s rise showing no signs of slowing. Their impact is now undeniable, commanding crowds of thousands across the world as their momentum continues to build.

  • RISE AGAINST Announces 2026 North American Tour Dates

Rise Against, the long-running Chicago alternative punk outfit, is set to headline a short run of spring shows across Canada and the United States in 2026. Joining them on the road will be Destroy Boys, who will serve as support for the trek.

The tour begins on March 3, 2026, with a stop at The Strand in Providence, Rhode Island. From there, Rise Against will bring their high-energy performances and socially aware songwriting to a mix of major cities throughout North America, including Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Pittsburgh, Madison, and Spokane, with more dates planned along the way.

Tickets are scheduled to go on sale Friday, December 12, at 10 a.m. local time, and fans will be able to purchase them through here.

Few bands have ever been as accurately named as the Chicago punk quartet. It goes on to reflect on how, even as trends come and go, Rise Against have remained a north star of artful resistance. Over the past 25 years, they have continued to evolve their sound without losing the rebellious core that first defined them, building a catalog that mirrors the changing social landscape. The original text adds that their music blends “melodic hardcore detonations” with stark commentary about “the looming dystopia,” creating the tension that has become central to their identity.

Last month AMON AMARTH announced a huge string of live dates that see them splitting oceans and rowing their way through the U.K. and EU in Autumn 2026. THE ALLFATHER AWAKENS tour includes ransacking support from modern death metal up and comers Orbit Culture and classic melodic death metallers Soilwork. Their conquest starts in the U.K. in October, preceding their EU journey which includes stops in France, Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, and Portugal.

For a list of dates worldwide, see below. For additional info and updates, go here.

AMON AMARTH recently celebrated a bountiful year with a feast of a new single, “We Rule The Waves,” and its accompanying video. Whilst this is AMON AMARTH‘s first new song in years, the latter end of 2026 will also see the berserkers unleash the wrath of Odin in the form of a brand new album. Carved from salt and steel, echoing across oceans, and sonically barbaric, modern metal doesn’t get more epic, or more essential, than this.

~ THE AMONKLOK CONQUEST TOUR co-headline with Dethklok. Special guests Castle Rat

ABOUT AMON AMARTH: From pole to pole and sea to sea, AMON AMARTH are the undisputed kings of Viking heavy metal. Formed in Tumba, Sweden, in 1992, they have forged an extraordinary legacy over three decades of thunderous, anthemic metal, all rich in the magical imagery of Viking history, folklore, and culture. From their underground smash debut Once Sent From The Golden Hall (1998) onwards, AMON AMARTH have been an unstoppable creative force. With a unique and unmistakable sound that combines the best of several epic strains of metal, the quintet have become renowned for their ageless anthems and explosive, theatrical live shows. With albums like 2008′s widely acclaimed Twilight Of The Thunder God and 2016′s conceptual triumph Jomsviking, the Swedes have been consistent standard bearers for heavy metal as a life-affirming and communal experience, armed with a seemingly endless stream of instant classic songs.

One of the best-loved metal bands in the world, AMON AMARTH are firmly dedicated to aiming high when they hit the studio. Recorded with esteemed studio guru Andy Sneap at the controls, their most recent full-length, The Great Heathen Army, represents another bold leap forward for the band, as their trademark sound undergoes yet another skilful, evolutionary overhaul, both lyrically and musically. From the noisily rabble-rousing “Find A Way Or Make One” and the pummelling, pugilistic “Get In The Ring,” to the evocative fury of “Saxons & Vikings” and the cinematic squall of the title track, The Great Heathen Army encapsulates the essence of this legendary band, while still allowing acres of space for new ideas.
