Last summer John Robinson and Leela Hoehn went to see the impressive young Chicago noise-rock trio Lifeguard at the Masquerade in Atlanta. It was an incredible show, but the bracing quality of the band’s performance left Robinson feeling bummed. If these kids are this young and are already that good, he reasoned, what hope is there for a guy starting fresh in his forties? “It’s over for me,” he remembers thinking to himself.

Jovin Webb has announced the release of his sophomore album, Son of a Sinner, which is set to arrive September 18 via Blind Pig Records. Produced by Grammy winner Tom Hambridge and recorded in Nashville, the 11-track album will be available on crimson red vinyl, CD, and digital platforms.
Alongside the announcement, Webb has released the album’s lead single, “Pray for Me.” The track features swampy tremolo guitar, harmonica, and deeply personal lyrics that explore themes of temptation, addiction, faith, and redemption. The song reflects the central theme of the album, with Webb confronting personal struggles while searching for hope and forgiveness.
Son of a Sinner follows Webb’s debut album, Drifter, and continues to draw from his blend of blues, gospel, and Southern rock influences. According to the album announcement, the new record represents a deeper exploration of Webb’s life experiences, addressing personal shortcomings and the ongoing pursuit of redemption.
The album includes a variety of musical styles, ranging from the blues-rock energy of “Gunpowder & Lead” to the Southern rock ballad “After the Rain” and the funk-infused “These Boots.” Webb also puts his own spin on Delbert McClinton’s “Every Time I Roll the Dice” and revisits “Whipping Post,” a song he performed during his appearance on American Idol. His version begins with a stripped-down acoustic arrangement before building into a full-band performance.
Webb first gained national recognition in 2020 through his appearances on American Idol, where he earned praise from judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Katy Perry. Raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Webb developed his sound through years of performing across the Gulf Coast while drawing inspiration from gospel music, blues traditions, and Southern culture.
Following the release of Son of a Sinner, Webb is scheduled to perform dates across the United States and Europe.

Nashville blues-infused Southern rock band Parker Barrow have released their new single, “Nothin’ Left To Save,” ahead of the July 17 release of their sophomore album, Hold The Mash.
The upcoming album expands on last year’s Hold The Mash EP, featuring previously released songs including “Make It,” “Novocaine,” “The Healer,” and “Glass Eyes Cryin’.” The album also includes three additional tracks: “Nothin’ Left To Save,” “Ruby’s Reckoning,” and a cover of the Black Crowes song “My Morning Song.”
“Nothin Left To Save was the last song written for the record,” says Parker Barrow drummer Dylan Turner. “Lyrically I had most of the verses written for some time. It wasn’t until hearing the track that it all came together. The up-tempo rock n roll nature of the song was just what we needed to round out the record and, in our ears, make it feel complete.”
Guitarist Alex Bender explained how the song developed from an initial riff idea.
“This track came about from a riff idea I had for a verse,” says the band’s guitarist, Alex Bender.” I wanted to have the guitar punctuating the vocal lines with the drums, which provided a lot of the energy and movement. One of the more different parts about the song is the bridge, prior to the solo. I took inspiration from some of Hendrix’s guitar parts, even recording the section on a Strat with the selector switch set to position four.”
Continues Alex, “At the end of the track, there’s some call and response between the vocals and guitar. We utilized some automated panning and moved the lines across the stereo field to help give the listener’s ear something to follow, also making it especially cool to listen to with headphones.”
Lead singer Megan Kane said the song pushed her outside her comfort zone in the studio.
“If I’m being honest, ‘Nothin’ Left to Save’ was one of the more challenging songs for me to record on this album,” says Parker Barrow’s lead singer, Megan Kane. “With such a high energy track, I struggled to find my ground and compliment the track when we first sat down with it in the studio. Our producer, Stephen McKnight, encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone, especially when it came to some of the vocal choices, and I am so grateful that he pushed me there.”
Continues Megan, “This song taught me a lot about my voice. How to trust it, stretch it, and use it in ways I never would have naturally gravitated toward. It reminded me that growth rarely happens in the places that are comfortable. Sometimes it takes people you trust to challenge you, see more in you than you see in yourself, and push you toward something better and because of all that I’m incredibly happy with what we captured on this track. It really has become one of my absolute favourites on this record – the energy, the message, all of it is something I hope people are able to connect with it the way that we do.”
Hold The Mash will be released July 17. The new single “Nothin’ Left To Save” is available now on streaming platforms.

Crawlers are back with news of a fresh new EP, featuring pummelling latest single ‘AFRAID TO DIE’.
The trio’s upcoming EP is titled ‘TURN OFF THE TV’, and it’s set to be released on August 14 via their new label home at Nettwerk Music Group.
Our first taste of the EP comes in the form of opening track ‘AFRAID TO DIE’, a cathartic outburst underpinned by piercing guitars and pummelling drums.
Speaking on the track, vocalist Holly Minto has shared:
“I was living extremely recklessly because I felt like I didn’t care anymore. I’d gotten so used to this feeling of grief and pain, but then I went on a great run one morning, and then Amy showed me how to make this really good porridge, and then Liv asked if we were gonna grab some drinks later. I realised I’d hate to die because that would mean I wouldn’t get more of this. It felt good to start the EP by changing my mind.”
