  • Multi-Instrumentalist & Chapman Stick Maestro Tom Griesgraber To Release New Soundtrack Album The Split (Music From The Motion Picture Prairie Prophe…

Tom Griesgraber is releasing a new album called The Split. The album is currently available as CD and multi-format download on tomgriesgraber.com, with a wider release planned for March 6 including Bandcamp. The Split is Tom Griesgraber’s soundtrack album from the feature length documentary film Prairie Prophecy. It includes all nineteen tracks from the film, along with two bonus tracks. The music features Tom Griesgraber on Chapman Stick, analog synths and samples. Tom’s California Guitar Trio bandmate Bert Lams also makes a guest appearance on acoustic guitar.

Watch the trailer for The Split:
    https://fb.watch/ETuAVHBc7O/
    https://youtu.be/skNQfhEP0XQ

While Tom Griesgraber is primarily known in progressive rock circles, The Split leans more towards ambient music than much of his other work.

Says Tom, “I tried in writing it to have recurring themes for the subjects being discussed in the movie. The album tracks are in the same order they appear in the movie, with themes and motifs that develop as the album progresses.”

“I tried to also have something thematic with the instrumentation. Generally, when topics being discussed are more about the problems of industrialization the analog synths become more prominent, and when the discussion is more about natural things or the progress scientists are making, the Chapman Stick and orchestral strings are more prominent.”

The film Prairie Prophecy is an engaging exploration of natural systems agriculture and its potential to address some of today’s most urgent environmental challenges. Anchored in the work of The Land Institute, the film traces how perennial farming systems—modeled after native ecosystems—could help restore soil, conserve water, and build resilience in a changing climate. Both educational and hopeful, the program offers a forward-looking perspective on the future of food and land stewardship.

The movie is currently playing at screenings and festivals across the US and will be available to all Public Television stations starting in April 2026.

    About Tom Griesgraber:
Tom Griesgraber picked up the Chapman Stick in 1997 after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music as a guitarist in 1995. In late 1998 he began performing around San Diego County as a Stick player doing both solo shows and performances with his group Agent 22. In 2000, the group won a year-long local battle of the bands at the Belly Up Tavern, beating about 230 other groups. From there venues started having Tom or the group open for nationals. In 2001, he opened for the California Guitar Trio (CGT) at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano. The next year Tom attended a Guitar Craft course taught by Robert Fripp with CGT members Bert Lams and Paul Richards assisting. Afterwards, CGT asked him to go on the road as their opener for about 100 shows over the next few years. Bert Lams from the group and Tom started doing duo tours as well and eventually two albums. In 2021, Bert and Paul Richards asked Tom to join CGT as a regular member.

To date, Tom Griesgraber has also released two other solo albums, one with CGT recorded while opening for King Crimson, two with Agent 22, and a duo album with drummer Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel) with whom he also toured internationally for several years. He has performed four times for Grammy events, toured as an opener for The Tony Levin Band, opened multiple times for Carl Palmer, Adrian Belew, Steve Morse and the Dixie Dregs, Al Dimeola and Stick Men and opened shows for Bill Bruford’s Earthworks, Andy Summers, Alan Holdsworth, Stanley Jordan, Steve Hackett, Larry Carlton, Steve Lukather, Paul Stanley, Paula Cole, Tuck and Patti, Asia and dozens of others. Tom has also performed on, produced and/or engineered dozens of albums for other artists including two with RyMo (of Slightly Stoopid), CGT, guitarist Peter Pupping and Dübh.

The Chapman Stick, Tom’s primary instrument is a combination of twelve guitar and bass strings, played in both hands with a technique closer to playing piano than guitar. Multiple outputs allow for simultaneous guitar, bass and keyboard-like sounds but with a unique timbre and unusual musical structures.

  • Prog Rock group EchoVerse announce new album ‘Fall Towards the Sky’; first single “Radical Rebirth” out now.

Progressive rock group EchoVerse introduces the next chapter of the band with their forthcoming sophomore album, Fall Towards The Sky, due out on March 27th, 2026. Along with the album announcement comes the first single and video for “Radical Rebirth,” blending Christian spirituality with modern progressive and hard-rock influences.

“Radical Rebirth” is a statement of renewal and awakening. Rooted in the promise of a new heaven and a new earth, the song centers on breaking free from illusion, choosing transformation over drifting through life on autopilot, and trusting that what feels heavy, broken, or final is not the end of the story.

The music video, directed and edited by Christian Rios, visually amplifies the song’s emotional arc and brings a textured, cinematic quality to the piece that mirrors the song’s themes of deconstruction and emergence.

You can watch the video for “Radical Rebirth” here:

Work on Fall Towards The Sky began immediately after the band wrapped their 2024 debut, Whispers Between Worlds. From the outset, EchoVerse committed to shaping a record that would feel intentional from beginning to end, while pushing their sound into a heavier, more assertive space.

“We started working on this album almost immediately after finishing Whispers Between Worlds,” says drummer Kyle Fagala. “We wanted the sophomore album to feel intentional — like a complete journey — and we weren’t willing to settle until every part of it felt right.”

“For this album, we focused intensely on flow,” says keyboardist/bassist Doug Bowers. “Transitions, dynamics, pacing — everything had to move naturally from start to finish. That process made the album more cohesive and full-bodied.”

“This record feels more confident and more direct than anything we’ve done,” says lead guitarist Rob Perez. “We pushed ourselves into heavier territory without losing sight of the heart of the band.”

Vocalist Kyle ‘KG’ Graves adds, “With this record we didn’t want to repeat the past. Fall Towards The Sky is heavier, sharper, and at the same time, more hopeful. The video for Radical Rebirth really captures that tension between struggle and breakthrough.”

  • Wadulisi Recordings Announces Debut Song from RematriNation – Out February 6, 2026

Native American/Indigenous rock band RematriNation is set to release their powerful debut single and video, “Nothing New Since 1492,” taken from their forthcoming album ᎠᏌᏃ ᎩᎦᎨ (The Red Dress). The single will debut via the Wadulisi label’s Bandcamp page, followed by a wide release across all major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Amazon Music.

    About the song:

Nothing New Since 1492 is an observation of the struggles that are currently frustrating mainstream America right now. Native Americans, who were not even US citizens until 1924, have always been fearful of traveling, for example. Our rights by Treaty and trust responsibility are continually taken away or changed without notice. We’ve gone through all the things that other Americans are now protesting about since 1492.This really hit home when I saw someone complaining that their government-sponsored telehealth had been discontinued during the government shutdown. I immediately thought, firstly, that’s a relatively new thing, and in the case of Native Americans, if you don’t live on a reservation, you have to drive hours just to get to an Emergency Room where your care is covered under a treaty.

Yet, through ALL of this, Native Americans have been there to help. Feeding the pilgrims, fighting in the
wars. But with every one of our struggles, social media responds with a couple of sad emojis while our messages are filled with requests from Americans wanting us to protest with them. We have faced these same things for centuries, and it hasn’t changed. Nothing is New Since 1492 to us. The only way we can find peace is to come together in solidarity.”  – Lisa LaRue

  • Album Review: KYNETIC Releases Self-Titled Debut

Album Review: KYNETIC Releases Self-Titled Debut

Founded in Bulgaria by guitarist/composer Alexander Angelov, rock/metal band Kynetic has just released their debut self-titled album. Originally starting as a personal project, Kynetic has since evolved into a full band, made up of Alexander Angelov (guitar), Iv Raed (bass), Mariyan Mitev (drums), Alexander Murtev (vocals), and Georgi Kirchev (guitar).

The 9-track release begins with "Faith", introducing itself with slamming drums, chunky guitar chugging, and classic rock electric guitar leads. Whispered vocals soon make way for full clarity vocals that remind me a little of a mix between Alice In Chains and Metallica. Kynetic quickly reveals a polished, modern sound that shows clear inspiration from 80s and 90s rock/metal music. High-energy belted vocals and grooving instrumentals lead to a sound that is equally catchy and hard-hitting.

"Darkest Kiss" starts with a more modern metal sound as crushing double bass and chugging work together to create brutal instrumentals before introducing singing vocals that swap between low and high octaves to create a varied sound. Vocals alternate between bright singing and dark screams, blending the catchiness of hard rock and the power of more traditional metal music. The song bursts into a soaring guitar solo that eventually leads into a final dynamic chorus to end the track.

"End Of Hope" starts with screeching guitar and impactful, building drums as thumping bass lines add a sense of low end. Kynetic slows things down as distant lofi vocals build into full clarity and intentionally empty soundscapes to create a sense of space as instruments are gradually added, before leading into the chorus. Kynetic showcases some thrash and theatrical metal influences as soaring vocal melodies and harmonies create a grandiose overall sound that reminded me a little of power metal. The song's bridge introduces clean guitar as slamming drums join the fray alongside visceral guitar leads before a final.

"Life's a Bargain" brings modern metal influences to the forefront as galloping drums, drop-tuned guitars, and fast leads soon form a thrashing tempo. Slightly raspy vocals build into a climbing chorus melody. Unexpectedly, the band changes tempos after the chorus, leading into a particularly chunky section that sets the groove for the following faster sections. At just over 6 minutes, "Life's a Bargain: is the longest track of the album and introduces varying tempos and dynamics alongside technical guitar solos and an atmospheric bridge before a final chorus.

"High on Above" features one of my favorite riffs of the album so far, as jazz-influenced, almost progressive hard rock leads create a new sound for the album so far. Softer vocals match the prog sound of the instrumentals as metal drums keep the impact of earlier tracks. Eventually more traditional distorted guitar is introduced, balancing contrast between the clean and heavy tones. I enjoyed the change in dynamics for this track, keeping a sense of freshness halfway through the album.

Next is "Absolute Reject" which picks the pace back up as groove metal riffs and drum patterns introduce a more intense sound than the previous track. Descending vocal melodies and chunky guitar create a dark sound that reminds me of metalcore acts like Avenged Sevenfold. An ambient guitar bridge soon leads into heavily distorted guitar shreddage as echoing leads create a memorable exit to the track.

"Race To Salvation" starts with a slower tempo that reminds me of genres like doom and sludge metal. Slowed, chunky, guitar chugs create a drop-tuned, crushing sound as singing vocals cut through the top of the mix. If the last song was akin to Avenged Sevenfold, this is more reminiscent of Black Sabbath. Kynetic soon bursts into speeding thrash riffage, adding a more modern feel to the track before introducing even more sludgy guitar tones and bright guitar leads.

Track 8, "Devoid Of Inhibitions" starts with speeding guitar riffage before cutting away into chugging, distant, energetic guitar strums and fierce singing vocals. The song's verse features a consistent instrumental groove that builds into faster and more intense pacing in the song's chorus with screaming and more energetic drums. An atmospheric bridge features stand-alone drums before gentle guitar leads are soon met by distorted chords.

The final song, "Fake World War" starts with dramatic electric guitar before introducing slamming drum build-ups and 80s-esque guitar leads. The slower tempo and dramatic overall sound soon pick up as pinch harmonics make way for emphasised guitar leads. As the song moves forward, soon thrash drums, harsher vocals, and much faster pacing is introduced as energy increases in intensity.

Overall, Kynetic creates a distinct sound that blends influences from hard rock, metalcore, thrash, and power metal, while my favorite track of the whole album, "High on Above" introduces progressive and jazz influences. You can stream Kynetic's self-titled debut album, available on all platforms now.
