  • MICHAEL MONROE Drops Music Video For Second Single “Disconnected”

Former Hanoi Rocks frontman Michael Monroe has confirmed the upcoming release of his new studio album, Outerstellar, arriving February 20, 2026, through Silver Lining Music. He has also shared the Leigh Brooks–directed video for the album’s second single, “Disconnected.”

The track reflects a concern that Monroe has often spoken about: the widening gap between people in an age that claims to keep them connected.

“Disconnected” speaks of something that Monroe feels passionately about: that live music is a rare and vital space for people to find each other in the moment.

Monroe explains: “Technology was supposed to bring people closer together, when, in fact, people are more disconnected than ever. They’re looking at their phones and their computers and downloading stuff.”

He continues: “And, you know, the Internet can’t take away the experience of being at a live show. You’re on stage, and you communicate with the audience who are there, in that moment. That’s where the magic really happens, and absolutely no program or device or computer can reproduce that.”

To support Outerstellar, Monroe and his band will launch a U.K. co-headlining tour with Buckcherry, beginning in Southampton on February 24, 2026.

  • I’m Not Yours is Olivia Booth’s Single Out Now

    Good Day Noir Family,
“I’m Not Yours” opens like a curtain lifting on a secret scene. Olivia Booth’s voice steps forward with quiet confidence, warm and steady, shaping the melody with a slow-burning elegance.

I’m Not Yours is Olivia Booth’s Single Out Now

Although the delivery feels timeless, the narrative has a modern sharpness that immediately draws you in. Her tone carries a controlled intensity, anchoring the track with emotional clarity.

The instrumental arrangement strengthens that mood in clever ways. The verses move with a syncopated pulse, almost as if the music is holding its breath. Each rhythmic phrase sits slightly on edge, creating tension that mirrors the song’s themes of release, separation, and self-ownership. Additionally, subtle guitar textures and soft keys fill the spaces between Booth’s phrases, giving the track a cinematic touch that echoes the sophistication of classic Bond themes.

However, the chorus shifts everything. The restrained verses give way to a broader, more liberated melody. The rhythmic tension breaks open and the rock influence rises to the surface. The drums hit harder, the chords widen, and Booth’s voice leaps with striking force. As a result, the chorus delivers a sense of emotional freedom that contrasts beautifully with the verse sections.

Furthermore, Booth’s vocal control shines in the transitions. She moves between delicate phrasing and stronger lines without losing the song’s center. There’s flair, but there’s also discipline, and the combination allows the track to shine without ever feeling excessive. Even the production supports this balance, keeping the instrumentation spacious enough for the melody to breathe.

By the final moments, “I’m Not Yours” becomes reflective and bold. It’s a song built on contrast: soft versus strong, past versus present, restraint versus release. And because these elements work together so naturally, the track leaves a lingering sense of confidence and cinematic warmth.

  • Wings of Gabriel is Karen Salicath Jamali’s Album Out Now

    Good Day Noir Family,
Karen Salicath Jamali’s Wings of Gabriel is an instrumental album that seems designed to lift the listener into a higher emotional space, and it succeeds with remarkable grace.

Wings of Gabriel is Karen Salicath Jamali’s Album Out Now

Each piece forms part of a larger spiritual narrative, yet every track also stands on its own as a distinct emotional chapter. The record thrives on subtlety, clarity, and an unwavering devotion to melody, creating a body of work that feels timeless.

The album opens with “Wings of Gabriel, Pt. 1,” a piano composition built around an arpeggio that carries a gentle sense of familiarity. There is something slightly reminiscent of Richard Clayderman in the elegance of the phrasing, though Jamali shapes the progression with her own refined delicacy. The melody surrounds you peacefully, inviting you into an atmosphere that feels almost suspended outside ordinary time. It’s easy to settle into the track as it floats forward with serenity.

The journey continues seamlessly with “Angel Gabriel’s Grace,” which introduces a brighter, more radiant mood. The piece almost paints the image of an angelic presence, as if the music itself were a beam of light. Because the melodic lines rise effortlessly, the track delivers a sense of elevation and calm that remains central throughout the album.

Later, “Angel Gabriel’s Refuge” shifts the emotional tone. Here, the melody becomes more mysterious, suggesting a moment of introspection rather than illumination. Jamali proves again that small changes in harmony, tempo, and phrasing can alter the entire emotional texture.

That evolution continues with “Angel Gabriel’s Glow,” a composition that carries a warm luminosity. The notes seem to embrace the listener gently, building a sense of inner quiet. The piano shines without force, and the track moves with the ease of soft breath. This is where the album’s meditative quality becomes especially clear.

One of the standout pieces is “Angel Gabriel’s Mystic.” The nostalgic undertones in the melody create a deeper emotional resonance, and several passages feel almost devotional. While the composition remains airy and celestial, a more complex longing arises beneath the surface. The result is a track that reaches toward something profound yet remains grounded in elegant simplicity.

Finally, “Angel Gabriel’s Tear” closes the album with tenderness. The piece feels like a gentle farewell, offering comfort rather than sadness. It evokes soft light, drifting clouds, and the quiet reassurance that something warm still surrounds you. As the final notes fade, the listener is left with a sense of hope—an impression that the heart has been lifted and held with care.

Karen Salicath Jamali has crafted a work that functions as a spiritual meditation and a beautifully structured piano collection. Because each track contributes to a unified emotional arc, Wings of Gabriel feels like a complete journey. The album is perfect for moments of reflection, calm, and renewal, especially during the soft glow of the holiday season. It is music meant to soothe and inspire.

  • Dune Aurora, Ice Age Desert (Octopus Rising 2025)

Italian heavy metal trio Dune Aurora offer up their debut studio long-player, Ice Age Desert.

Dune Aurora is a heavy threesome from Italy, given to elements of fuzz and moments of grunge. The latest album, Ice Age Desert, follows the path first identified by the Lonely Town EP from 2022. The band is Ginny Wagon (vocals, guitar), Roberta Finiguerra (bass, backing vocals), and Serena Bodratto (drums, backing vocals).

The new record contains a set of nine songs, beginning with, appropriately, “Gateway.” The music is like someone opening a limo door for you and you have the sudden thought that a limo can also be a hearse. Heavy with a slow groove and enchanting vocals, this song is a portent. “Tundra” gives you an even stronger whiff of what will follow, shifting into a fuzzy chug with an implied “let’s go” tempered by the sweet voice that keeps returning. “Burning Waters” makes the riff the king, “Crocodile” comes at your hard, then “Trapdoor” comes along at radio length and pushes you straight into Wonderland.

I notice the guitars most in this music. The riffs and solos are inspired and sometimes dreamy. Next it is the singing, which will inveigle you if you are not careful. Every song is a treat, and you hate to hear it end except that there is another on the way so that’s OK. On the backside we have “Sunless Queen” and “Dune Chameleon,” which are dooming in the former and trippingly insistent in the latter. “Fire” is here too – the song was previously released as a single in 2024. The version on the album is an alternate take. It is low, heavy, and bluesy. Very nice. The final track is “Se Ponga El Sol.” It is a heavy psych indulgence that will have you rubbing your ears and your eyes. Then you will want to start all over again from the beginning. Recommended.

Ice Age Desert is out through Octopus Rising on Friday, November 21st. Listen and buy at the links below.

    ABOUT AMON AMARTH:
From pole to pole and sea to sea, AMON AMARTH are the undisputed kings of Viking heavy metal. Formed in Tumba, Sweden, in 1992, they have forged an extraordinary legacy over three decades of thunderous, anthemic metal, all rich in the magical imagery of Viking history, folklore, and culture. From their underground smash debut Once Sent From The Golden Hall (1998) onwards, AMON AMARTH have been an unstoppable creative force. With a unique and unmistakable sound that combines the best of several epic strains of metal, the quintet have become renowned for their ageless anthems and explosive, theatrical live shows. With albums like 2008′s widely acclaimed Twilight Of The Thunder God and 2016′s conceptual triumph Jomsviking, the Swedes have been consistent standard bearers for heavy metal as a life-affirming and communal experience, armed with a seemingly endless stream of instant classic songs.

Now reaping the rewards of all those years of hard work, AMON AMARTH are now regarded as one of the metal world’s most vital and imperious live acts. From headlining festivals across Europe to claiming a place on Slayer‘s final tour(s) of the US in 2019 and the UK in 2025, they have honoured the adventurous ethos of their Viking forebears by taking their music anywhere and everywhere.

One of the best-loved metal bands in the world, AMON AMARTH are firmly dedicated to aiming high when they hit the studio. Recorded with esteemed studio guru Andy Sneap at the controls, their most recent full-length, The Great Heathen Army, represents another bold leap forward for the band, as their trademark sound undergoes yet another skilful, evolutionary overhaul, both lyrically and musically. From the noisily rabble-rousing “Find A Way Or Make One” and the pummelling, pugilistic “Get In The Ring,” to the evocative fury of “Saxons & Vikings” and the cinematic squall of the title track, The Great Heathen Army encapsulates the essence of this legendary band, while still allowing acres of space for new ideas.

  • Over The Top is Jacob Chacko’s Single Out Now

    Good Day Noir Family,
Holiday releases often try to recreate nostalgia, yet many fall into predictable formulas.

Over The Top is Jacob Chacko’s Single Out Now

“Over The Top” by Jacob Chacko, however, manages to strike a fresh balance between festive joy and smart songwriting.

The track lifts the mood, offering the kind of energy that makes you want to step into the holiday season with a smile, even if you were not feeling ready for it. Bright instrumentation and a confident groove set the foundation for a song that feels familiar and exciting.

Moreover, the interaction between the male and female vocals adds a lively dynamic. Their interplay creates a playful conversation that enhances the narrative and keeps the listener engaged. Instead of simply adding harmonies, the vocal balance becomes a central feature, driving the track forward and emphasizing its upbeat character.

The arrangements deserve attention as well. Sparkling keys, and crisp percussion form a vibrant musical base. Each element sounds carefully placed, yet the track maintains a spontaneous spirit. The production leans modern, but the melodic hooks echo classic 60s holiday tunes, giving it a touch of retro charm. Because of this mix, the song feels like a timeless Christmas jingle without sounding dated.

Furthermore, the chorus carries a huge sense of joy. It opens up the track and invites listeners to sing along, which is essential for a successful holiday single. The melody sticks quickly, and the rhythmic bounce makes it easy to imagine the song playing during gatherings, parties, or even while decorating a tree. As a result, “Over The Top” works as a fun seasonal anthem and as a showcase of Jacob Chacko’s compositional skill.

The track also displays strong musical confidence. It moves smoothly between sections and maintains its festive spirit from beginning to end. Additionally, the rich arrangements create shimmer and warmth, filling the song with color. It feels like a celebration wrapped in music, offering positivity at a time when many people need it most.

“Over The Top” stands out as a joyful holiday release that blends vintage flair with a polished modern approach. Jacob Chacko delivers a track that warms the soul, spreads cheer, and highlights his ability to write memorable music.

  • Carmina Alegría is Yo’s Album Out Now

    Good Day Noir Family,
Yo’s album Carmina Alegría feels like a bold artistic statement shaped by tradition, memory, and experimentation.

Carmina Alegría is Yo’s Album Out Now

The opening track, “Desaparecer,” introduces listeners to a striking mix of arpeggios and what sounds like a delicate carillon.

That combination sets an ancient tone, almost ritualistic, yet filtered through a modern lens. The atmosphere carries shades of Enya, though darker and more mysterious. As the song progresses, the arrangement slowly grows in intensity. Gradually, guitars add weight and a harder edge, pushing the piece toward an epic rock territory without losing its ethereal core.

Then comes “Carmina Alegría,” the emotional centerpiece of the record. A spoken voice from an old woman appears, supported by ambient textures that evoke memory and family heritage. Because of this element, the track feels personal and touching, almost like a tribute to a beloved grandmother. The concept adds depth to the album’s narrative and reinforces the idea of music as a vessel for remembrance.

“Volver al aire” expands the stylistic palette even further. A female voice enters first, singing with a soprano style that recalls grand opera. Shortly after, Yo’s own voice responds, creating a striking contrast. The general mood hints at gothic theatre, almost echoing The Phantom of the Opera with its dramatic progression and sense of mystery. The song penetrates emotionally, thanks to its haunting melodic line and cinematic arrangement.

Furthermore, “Los muertos siempre son verdad” delivers one of the most interesting instrumental moments. It leans into alternative textures, yet keeps an intense energy that surrounds the listener like London fog. The track demonstrates how Yo can build tension without relying on vocals, using instruments to paint vivid atmospheres.

The bonus track, “Levantando las manos,” closes the album in a minimalistic and introspective way. The voice sits close in the mix, compressed and warm, supported by tasteful reverb. This choice gives the track a very intimate presence. It serves as a thoughtful conclusion, showing Yo’s desire to explore different sonic concepts while maintaining authenticity.

Yo proves to be an artist who enjoys experimenting with genre boundaries and emotional themes, crafting music that feels personal and imaginative. It is an album that invites listeners to travel through memory, mythology, and inner reflection.

  • Flowers is Dirt Preachers Union’s Single Out Now

    Good Day Noir Family,
Dirt Preachers Union return with “Flowers,” a track that hits like a sonic slap in the face — sharp, confident, and bursting with psychedelic swagger.

Flowers is Dirt Preachers Union’s Single Out Now

The opening chord lands with attitude, setting a tone that feels retro and fiercely alive. There’s an immediate sense of joy in the performance, the kind that only comes from musicians who truly love what they do.

The groove is irresistible. A driving rhythm pushes the song forward with purpose, blending blues grit, Americana warmth, and a hint of funk that gives the whole track a loose, free-spirited bounce. The drums lock in with the bass to form a heartbeat that never lets up, while the guitar lines dance over the top with color and flair. You can hear decades of rock tradition in the tone, yet the delivery feels fresh rather than nostalgic.

The vocals land with charisma — warm, raw, and full of that road-worn charm that defines so much of timeless American rock. There’s a feeling of being inside a van heading toward a dusty festival ground, windows down, hair flying, and the promise of adventure in the air. The singer’s phrasing carries a sense of lived experience, a storyteller’s tone that balances grit and ease.

Moreover, the band chemistry is undeniable. You can feel it in the way the instruments respond to each other, as if the song is being built in real time by people who trust one another creatively. The performance has that magic of live, human music — no overproduction, no sterile edges, just pure rock spirit. The bluesy undercurrent, the psychedelic shimmer, and the carefree funk highlight a group deeply connected to their roots while still pushing forward.

The arrangement keeps the energy high from start to finish. Small details — a rhythmic accent here, a guitar flourish there — add personality without ever distracting from the main groove. The track feels like a celebration of musicianship and freedom.

“Flowers” is the type of song that reminds you why rock will never die. It’s joyful, gritty, and played with unmistakable passion.

The Dirt Preachers Union is a Santa Cruz–born project from Big Medicine Head songwriters Bob Gemmell and Johnny McGuire, delivering their raw, Paisley Americana style with grit and heart. Their new single, “Flowers,” was written by the late Paul Kamanski, famed for Beat Farmers classics like “Hollywood Hills.” With Kamanski’s widow’s blessing — and the legendary Joey Harris of the Beat Farmers joining the recording — the track honors a deep musical lineage.

     STONEBIRDS: PERPETUAL WASTELAND

This French band from Brittany has been around since 2008 but are new to me.  Thanks to Ripple Music, I have found them and will definitely be checking out their earlier releases next.  I find this album addictive, and more engaging with each listen.  I love all six tracks, but these are two of my favorites:

    Stonebirds are:
Fañch Le Corre : Vocal / Guitars
    Antoine Delhumeau: Drums
    Sylvain Collas : Bass/vocal
