The Florida SoundCloud-rap renegade emerged about a decade ago, and I was pretty fascinated with the ways that he incorporated, metal, hardcore, goth, and industrial into what he was doing, even before he got his rap name tattooed across his forehead. Ghostemane was once in a group with Lil Peep, and he’s got collaborations with people like $uicideboy$, Clams Casino, and HEALTH on his resume. But Ghostemane hasn’t released an album since 2020’s Anti-Icon, and he has been entirely absent for at least a few years. Today, he returns with a new single.

Channel Tres, Compton native and maker of funky-ass club-pop, was putting out records and playing great live shows for years before he finally released his full-length debut. That album, Head Rush, finally came out in 2024, and it had guests like Thundercat, Toro y Moi, and Ty Dolla $ign. This year, Tres appeared on new records from Thundercat and Dahi, and he’s been putting out his own singles like “Pop Pop,” “Black Techno Guy,” and the Crystal Water-sampling “Medicine.” Now, album number two is here.
Rock/metal icon Marilyn Manson has released his highly anticipated new album, One Assassination Under God – Chapter 2, available now worldwide via Nuclear Blast Recordshere. To mark the occasion, Manson has also unveiled the official music video directed by Anthony Silva (@poisonpix) for the album’s opening track, “Unalive”, expanding on his signature dark, cinematic vision.
Co-written and co-produced alongside longtime collaborator Tyler Bates, One Assassination Under God – Chapter 2 finds Manson pushing even deeper into the stark, cinematic landscape introduced on its predecessor. Balancing crushing industrial intensity with haunting melody and moments of unsettling beauty, the nine-song collection, including “Unalive” and recent singles “Exit Wound” and “Front Toward Enemy”, stands among his most focused and immersive works to date.
Following today’s release, Marilyn Manson returns to the road next week for a major North American tour, bringing One Assassination Under God – Chapter 2 to audiences across the U.S. alongside Rob Zombie before continuing with additional headline performances this fall.

Finnish black / death metal titans Archgoat are back with their sixth full length of uncompromising extremity. Out via Debemur Morti Productions on the 11th of September.
A short introduction / invocation brings this album ominously to life in true Archgoat fashion. This far into their career they know what they are doing and don’t mess us around. Razor-sharp guitars and bestial drums forcefully hammer into life with demonic vocals in hot pursuit. This bludgeoning formation of deathly black metal vitriol is a concoction Archgoat has spent the best part of forty years mastering. From the savage sawtooth grooves of the guitars to the punishing drum work and the snarling incantations, the archaic evil in their songs can be felt in a profound manner. Little has changed in the constellation of Archgoat since the last records. We still have the two brothers Ritual Butcherer and Lord Angelslayer alongside drummer Goat Aggressor. Similarly the songs follow those ritualistic hooks and more vicious assaults in equal measure. The atmosphere is reminiscent to the more grandiose stylings of “The Luciferian Crown” (one of my favourite Archgoat LPs), with a lot of the aggression being held in how hard they hit the chords on those slower riffs. Interestingly though, we do hear some deviations in terms of more melodic riffing and these haunting synth passages. “The Dawn to Armageddon” is a perfect example and perhaps the most atmospheric song the band has ever written. Having said this, do not confuse atmospheric with tame. That would be foolish when the devoted darkness of Archgoat has never faltered in the slightest.
One would be foolish to talk about how powerful this bands sound is and not mention the production. On this record it feels refined but unpolished, which is the perfect middle ground. The bass guitar has a huge presence which knocks the air out of your lungs while the guitars lacerate with their sharp distorted presence. Equally the vocals and drums sit in their own spaces, allowing the trio to all complement each-other and deliver a crushing sonic hell-storm. Surging forth, the maniacal blackened death metal onslaught continues to blend the satanic atmospherics and blasphemous profanities of the blasting vitriol in gloriously equal measures. Personally I really enjoy the subtle increase in these ritualistic atmospherics while the brutality is no less than say “Whore of Bethlehem”. It truly feels as though Archgoat have never changed their sound and only tweaked it where they felt it absolutely appropriate to continually give us the highest of quality in their evil hymns of total barbarism.
Conjuring such inescapable darkness with the luminescent edge that splits it like a scythe, one cannot be blamed for falling into an awestricken trance when listening to this majestic opus. To repeatedly deliver such a consistent sound without compromising or wavering in the slightest is no easy task. Doing so without becoming dull, predictable or simply irrelevant is ever harder. Archgoat overcome this treacherous fate and command a loyal audience of underground maniacs whose thirst for their bestial black blood is never satiated. Perfectly blending that ruthless black metal attack with the most inhospitable death metal morbidity, it is impossible not to be pulverised by the sheer might of this record. I have been an Archgoat fan for many years now and every time a new record comes out or I get to witness them live it still feels exciting, dangerous and like something “more” than most black metal shows. Similarly I never tire of their releases and still revisit all of them regularly. This new LP is another perfect example of an album I know I will return to for years to come and still find massive enjoyment from. A primitive and forceful yet intelligently gloomy record which uses the simplest dynamic twists to the greatest of effect to enchant you with true morbid magick.
Once more the masters showcase why they are one of the best bands of all time. Archgoat’s sixth album joins their enormous, unwieldy and inimitable body of work. Each LP, EP and anything else serving as a statement of total evil and satanic dedication without compromise or remorse. “Nightbringer, Lightbrighter” is a barbaric assortment of Archgoat’s heaviest, most intense and also most otherworldly and atmospherically provocative pieces to date. I had no doubt this would be an absolutely phenomenal record and I was correct. Archgoat hand you the keys of hell and of death… take them…
