The Smashing Pumpkins have shared a new track titled ‘Black Stars’, taken from the soundtrack from the upcoming film ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping’.

The track started life at a time when vocalist Billy Corgan was working on a solo album, before being invited to contribute to the movie’s soundtrack. From there, he drew inspiration from the universe the film exists in and the ongoing story that is unfolding, and the result is pretty astonishing.

Jangly in sound and infectiously catchy in melody, it’s certainly a different vibe for the band whilst still feeling wholly Pumpkins. Quintessential and nostalgic, yet thrilling and fresh, it’s a wonderful creation for a fascinating source.

Here it is:

Кожа расшедшая швами,
Мир угасает во тьме.
Звёзды, зависшие в небе,
Много расскажут тебе

The world always seems to ask for one more thing just as the body begins to give out: another crisis to absorb, another responsibility to shoulder, another future to fret over before the present has loosened its grip. In time, exhaustion alters the scale of everything. A room grows airless; a day becomes an ordeal; even the simple act of carrying on weighs more than you can bear.

Turin-based coldwave and post-punk project Obychno Odyn confronts that struggle on Мир угасает во тьме (“The World Fades into Darkness”). Written by Vadym Protsenko, the single opens the forthcoming album Адинамия, tracing human fragility under the weight of a world closing in.

Knocking snare percussion and strange, watery vibrations set the song on uneasy ground, the latter conjuring a loose sheet of metal or plastic shivering against the beat. Funereal keyboards drift in, hovering between organ and piano, as an eerie analog synth slices through the arrangement. Protsenko hurls the Russian lyrics in forceful cries, held tight in reverb; each phrase surges through the music with sharp, macabre urgency.

These cramped electronics carry something of Bunker Strasse at their bleakest, while the Gothic theatricality of Das Kabinette emerges through a rougher recording surface. Dusty and decayed, the sound feels like a coldwave cassette unearthed from the mid-1980s. It conjures candlelight flickering against damp stone, footsteps echoing through an Eastern European castle, and corridors that vanish into darkness beyond the flame.

The lyrics give exhaustion a body: skin splitting at the seams, yellow leaves drifting into a pool of blood, tired eyes tallying the days. A weight settles on the shoulders, while tomorrow claims time scarcely lived. Even the world’s silence brings no solace. In the closing lines, the body is urged to rise and run even as breath fails—turning the demand to keep moving into something almost unbearably cruel.

Filmed by Tout Debord, the accompanying video places the musicians beneath a sickly green light, interrupting the performance with black-and-white passages, tracking interference, and coarse bursts of green and magenta. The framing moves between Protsenko at the microphone, his guitar, and Marcello Aloisio on bass, bringing hands and faces close before distortion partially swallows them. The distressed picture gives the performance an unstable intimacy, as though the recording itself were struggling to hold itself together.

Musician Vadym Protsenko founded Obychno Odyn in Bucharest in 2025, responding to global instability and events in his home country through songs concerned with war, existence, and emotional isolation. Writing and performing in Russian and English, he draws on the French coldwave of the 1980s, particularly Trop Tard and Bunker Strasse, seeking neglected sounds that can speak to present circumstances. The eight-song debut album, Излияние (“Outpouring”), followed in 2026.

The same year brought the project’s first live performances in Bucharest, with DJ sets by Corina Sucarov. Although Obychno Odyn remains Protsenko’s solo recording project, Aloisio joined in 2026 to support its live performances on bass, alongside Protsenko’s vocals and guitar. Their deliberately reserved stage presence leaves room for the music’s combination of distance and closeness, a quality preserved in this new video.

Dierks Bentley built his country music career around a restless mix of Nashville songwriting, bluegrass tradition, and the excitement of a full-throttle concert. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1975, he moved to Nashville as a young adult and immersed himself in the city’s musical history. His affection for classic country singers and acoustic musicians helped shape a sound that was recognizable from his earliest recordings. Bentley independently released Don’t Leave Me in Love in 2001 before signing with Capitol Nashville. His 2003 major-label debut produced the breakthrough single “What Was I Thinkin’,” and the follow-up Modern Day Drifter brought “Come

Architects frontman Sam Carter has released a lengthy and emotional statement responding to comments online that have criticised his recent live performances. In the statement, posted via Sam’s personal social media accounts, the singer acknowledges that he has struggled with his voice at certain points on stage this year, revealing that he has suffered serious anxiety issues as a result of the negative and even abusive responses his performances have received.

“It’s time for me to be honest here, and it’s not going to be easy, as it’s something I’ve worked tirelessly at over the last year,” he says in a post titled ‘Time for some honesty’. “My anxiety and constant focus on my voice has gotten me to a place where the joy of performing has been taken away from me.

“I got to a place where, whenever I go to scream the voice inside my head stops me from being able to do the job that I’ve done for the last 20 or so years.

“Now, this isn’t something that I started. It’s been the online discourse around my voice and the constant judgment that have ultimately led me down a tunnel that I’ve struggled to get out of.”

Sam goes on to point to a particular moment this year where things began to escalate.

“It got really loud after Rock am Ring, where I had a really tough day trying out a new technique in front of 90-odd thousand people.,” he continues “The more I tried, the crueler the comments over the summer got and it led me to a place where I was physically and emotionally shot. My performance anxiety had gotten out of control and I wasn’t able to enjoy anything about the band or being onstage.”

Sam credits David Benites from Extreme Vocal Academy for helping him work on his vocal issues, as well as his bandmates and wife for their support over what has evidently been a very challenging year.

“The comments and the judgment have got too much,” he adds. “I’m a human being trying my hardest up there and some things aren’t going to be perfect. I’m in therapy every week and on medication to help my anxiety. Trust me when I say there isn’t a stone I haven’t left unturned.

“I dreamt of having a ‘Sam’s Back’ moment, but that’s not real life. And maybe this is actually my moment to come back to a life where I’m not thinking about this shit every waking moment.”

Architects will head out on tour across Europe and the UK as support to nu metal legends Korn this month, and Sam pledges to do his best to overcome his struggles.

“On this tour with Korn, I’m going to scream the words from a place of passion and determination,” he promises. “Ultimately, I want to get back to a place where I’m having fun with my friends onstage. It’s not going to be perfect, but I’m not, so that’s that.”

He finishes with a moving final sentiment: “Be kind. You never know what someone is truly going through.”

Architects’ latest single Machine was released last month. The full list of their imminent dates with Korn is below.
