In 2024, I included November Girl’s awesome track “Yesterday” on my impeccable list of my favorite songs from that year. That came from her incredible Heart Prayer EP, and now the severely underrated shoegaze artist is back with a compelling, ’90s-indebted anthem called “Earthly Form.”

If one were to mix Björk with Beck, a sound akin to this track would emerge. This song features intriguing reverse effects that enhance its uniqueness.
Following is “Bath Salts,” which presents a rock and gothic atmosphere. The influence of Radiohead is notable, with powerful guitar riffs and the nearly hypnotic quality of Hoxsey’s voice. This song feels dystopian and stands apart due to its distinctiveness.
Another highlight is “Noumenon,” a psychedelic ballad that evokes imagery of a mirage in a fragile desert landscape. The track captivates listeners, stimulating neurons to create vivid, unique imagery.
“Over the Morning’s New Moon” presents a more intense listening experience. It leans toward a more traditional progression, offering glimpses of David Bowie’s influence.
The album concludes with an instrumental version of “Living in Reverse.” This rendition further emphasizes the captivating reverse effects present in the original track.
Overall, this album is incredible in its uniqueness, and I recommend it to everyone.

Dublin noisemakers Gilla Band haven’t been making a lot of noise lately. The band’s most recent album Most Normal came out four years ago. Since then, Gilla Band’s members have been pursuing other things, like guitarist Alan Duggan Borges’ experimental electronic project the Null Club. Back in May, Gilla Band finally returned with the explosive, twisty single “Giraffe.” That’s the kind of song that you release when you’re getting ready to announce an album, and that album has now been announced.
