The Jesus And Mary Chain and Trapped Under Ice are playing the same show. That’s fucking awesome. For the past few years, the people at Run For Cover Records have worked together to put on Something In The Way, an extremely cool annual Boston festival that brings together different strains of cool-as-hell guitar music. This year’s edition, for instance, had Sunny Day Real Estate and Explosions In The Sky as headliners. For next year’s fest, the planners of Something In The Way have outdone themselves, putting together a really great lineup.
Australia’s genre-bending Windwaker — vocalist Liam Guinane, guitarist Justin Keurntjes, bassist Indey Salvestro, drummer Chris Lalic, and synths/samples specialist Connor Robins — will unleash their third album, smile, you’re on camera. on October 23 through Fearless Records.
“dna” explores one’s internal struggle with self-perspective and sincerity in an increasingly social media-driven world, which is an existential battle many of us can relate to. It’s all wrapped up in an alt rock package. It’s laced with synths, hip-hop-inspired verses, and never scrimps on the hard-hitting riffage and bloodcurdling screams. The Aussie band remains committed to erasing genre parameters and flipping off sonic boundaries. The result is music distinct as, well, actual deoxyribonucleic acid.
“‘dna’ explores a deeply internal struggle with identity, self-worth, and the feeling of being trapped by one’s own nature,” the band offers. “The song reflects on emotional instability and the pressure of living up to expectations, while battling impulses, ego, and the fear of never truly changing. There’s a recurring tension between wanting growth and feeling stuck in destructive patterns, as if these flaws are hardwired into their ‘DNA.’ Another key theme here which is explored over the album is authenticity. References to ‘doing it for the likes’ and people ‘switching sides’ highlights disillusionment with superficial validation and fake personas, while the protagonist in this song tries to strip away ego and confront their true self.”
As a whole, smile, you’re on camera. ruminates on the weight of time and growth, struggles and sacrifice for the better life and authenticity in spite of a world full of superficial and sinister characters and bad actors. It’s a collection of catchy, energetic and heartfelt songs. The album is highly introspective and does not follow a linear narrative, instead presenting a series of personal reflections and snapshots that capture the emotional highs and lows of this period. It’s a celebration of how far the band has come and a candid look at the pressure of being seen, leaving listeners with a sense of both resolution and ongoing evolution.
Ultimately, Windwaker‘s music effectively results from a chemical reaction between multiple genres. The band serves as the common denominator on an endlessly rotating carousel of styles, splicing stadium-size hooks, swaggering rhythms, gnashing guitars, and jaw-droppingly dynamic vocals into one unpredictable sound.
The band has constantly pushed the envelope, taking flight into rarified air as an outlier. They already made a hyperspace-size jump musically from Love Language (2022) to Hyperviolence (2024). The latter spawned “Sirens,” which gathered 9 million Spotify streams and counting. Legendary English rock supergroup Asia recently announced that their new studio album, “Indigo”, will be released on November 6, 2026, via Frontiers Music Srl.
Today, legendary English rock supergroup ASIA shares “Arcadia,” a new extract from the upcoming studio album.
Geoff Downes states:
“The original idea for ‘Arcadia’ was that it was going to be the title of the third ASIA album, which we then later decided to change to ‘Astra.’ However, the word and concept has always been around us, and there have been many suggestions over the years to write a song about it. So, here we are in 2026, 40 years later, and we’ve finally managed to bring it into being. ‘Arcadia’ is a historical Greek region and is depicted as an idyllic pastoral place free from the outside world. Our song symbolizes a retreat from everyday life, an escape if you like to a quieter place, something that we all need to do from time to time.”

Macklemore has been in the news a lot lately. The onetime pop-rap hitmaker was among the first mainstream figures to protest against Israel’s genocidal campaign in Palestine and to loudly and accurately use the word “genocide” to describe it. Macklemore was booked as an opener on Ed Sheeran’s current stadium tour, but Sheeran dropped him at the behest of stadium owner Robert Kraft. Famously, this led to every other opener on that tour, as well as Sheeran’s own backing band, quitting the tour in solidarity. Sheeran said that he’s “not complicit,” then cried about it onstage. Meanwhile, Macklemore continues to take actual action.
Evanescence have announced that they will be releasing a special expanded edition of their 2006 sophomore album ‘The Open Door’.
‘The Open Door’ was released on September 25, 2006 and found the band building on the immense success of their debut ‘Fallen’ in some style. Grandiose in scale and sound, it focused in on the elements of the band that made them such a sensation and enhanced them tenfold. More unforgiving, more hard-hitting and more orchestrally bold.
The remastered and expanded release will arrive on November 06 via Craft Recordings and be available on 2-LP, CD, and digital, and feature four bonus tracks. They are If You Don’t Mind’, ‘Together Again’, ‘The Last Song I’m Wasting On You’ and a previously unreleased demo of ‘Good Enough’.

Bullet For My Valentine will release their new album, Social Apocalypse, on March 19th, 2027, via Spinefarm. The announcement arrives with a towering new single by the same name. “Social Apocalypse” is the band’s first new song in four years; on the title track, Matt Tuck rages against “the end of the world as we know it”, when “all hope has faded”.
Thematically, Social Apocalypse combines the bare-faced lyrical introspection of people weathered and worn by the modern world with wide-eyed observations on a planet that feels as if it is coming off the rails at every turn. “Everything in life is changing at such a rapid pace, and it is hard to find a great deal of positivity when you look at events in the world,” Tuck says. “People are being pitted against each other. The world is full of conflict instead of unity. As a father, I look at what the world is like for younger people, and how completely different it is now.”
Working once more with producer Carl Bown, a veteran of four Bullet albums, alongside work with Sleep Token, While She Sleeps, Malevolence and more, each new album track was diligently scrutinised, constructed and polished to its immaculate final form. “Carl doesn’t let you settle,” Tuck notes. “He is always ready to speak up, push and challenge you to be the best version of you.”
There are two collaborations on Social Apocalypse, a rarity for Bullet that brings thrilling new dynamics to the record, with Against The Current vocalist Chrissy Costanza stepping in to duet on “In The Absence Of You” and a hair-raising vocal turn from Lorna Shore’s Will Ramos on “I Don’t Trust Tomorrow”.
