Hardline Media will bring Death Angel to Australia to play Act III start to finish. It is the San Francisco Bay Area thrash band’s first visit in close to ten years. The band will also play a set of older thrash material.

Death Angel is regarded as a leader of thrash’s second wave in the 1980s and is counted among the genre’s “Big Eight”, alongside Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Exodus and Overkill. After building an underground following with its first two albums, The Ultra-Violence (1987) and Frolic Through The Park (1988), the band signed with major label Geffen Records in 1989. Act III came out the next year.

The band is now one of the few survivors of the early 1980s Bay Area scene that changed heavy music. It is still putting out albums and touring, and it earned a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance in 2020 for Humanicide, which very few thrash bands can say. The Australian run marks the 35th anniversary of Act III. Local fans have not seen the band since its 2018 Australian tour with Sepultura, so this is the first full headline outing in a while.
