Los Angeles-based quartet Pattern-Seeking Animals are just a few weeks away from the release of their 6th album Grimalkin on August 21st, on GEP Records.

Now, the band has shared the new single “Slowly Falls the Flying Man” and you can listen to it here:

John Boegehold says this about the track, “‘Slowly Falls the Flying Man’ starts with a classical/baroque opening but, as usual with us, soon travels in a few different musical directions. We’re all quite happy with how this turned out, with special guests Susan Craig Winsberg on flute and recorders and Joe Deninzon (Kansas) on violin.”

David Z, the Minneapolis musician and producer best-known for his work with Prince, has passed away. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that David Z, born David Rivkin, died in a Burbank, California hospital on Sunday. According to his younger brother Bobby Z, the former drummer from Prince’s band the Revolution, David died of complications of an infection. He was 78.

We have a brand new video, “Living Resources,” from long-running Chilean melodic DM outfit Projector, who are set to issue their first new full-length, Before the Last Light, in more than 10 years. This quintet—Ivon Sepulveda (bass), Esteban Ponce (drums), Felipe Pradenas (guitars), Rodrigo Bocaz (guitars), Rodrigo Salazar (vocals)—may be living in the Southern Hemisphere, but they have a distinct Northern Hemisphere (specifically Swedish) feel on “Living Resources,” the the new single that features a guest appearance from Recrucide guitarist Rodrigo Alpe. The video we’re offering up was directed by Carlos Toro of Abysmo Films and is set in a dystopian/post-apocalyptic hellscape with a bit of a Tron vibe.

Before the Last Light was produced by Erick Martinez who did all the recording, mixing, and mastering at Orange Estudios. New single, “Living Resources,” is currently available for presave here.

The band offered this statement regarding its new video/song:

“This track represents the raw energy and core sound of the band, but it also carries a heavy message. It reflects our frustration with how society today reduces human beings to mere resources, completely stripping away our humanity. The music channels that anger and serves as the perfect summary of what this album is all about. To bring this vision to life, we teamed up with Abysmo—known for their incredible work with giants like Arch Enemy and Therion—to deliver a visual punch that matches this intensity.”
