Midnight has announced Satanic Attack Live!, a live album recorded across two sold-out performances on May 28–29, 2026 at Knucklehead in Hollywood, California. The release — captured as part of the band’s Satanic Royalty 15th-Anniversary World Tour — is due Nov. 6 via Metal Blade Records. Audio was recorded by Mark Borders, with mixing and mastering handled by Zach Rippy.

Midnight’s Jamie “Athenar” Walters commented on the release: “Did I ever think there would be a Midnight live, in-concert record album? Haha sh*t, naw! But if you’re reading this, you are probably holding a copy in your bloody semen/leukorrhea-dripping paws. With the help of D.K. Vagslay, Iron Possessor, and about 300 dirt merchants and headbanging Hollywood sleazeballs, it was possible to concoct such a document of disgust.”

Satanic Attack Live! presents all ten tracks from 2011’s landmark Satanic Royalty LP in the original album running order, followed by five additional songs. The release will be available on CD, digital, and vinyl, with a poster included in several color variants.

Midnight is the Cleveland, Ohio-based project of Walters, who has spent over two decades crafting an ungodly racket that fuses metal and punk into his own brand of lust, grime and sleaze. Walters plays all instruments on recordings himself and employs a guitarist and drummer for live performances. Midnight’s debut album, Satanic Royalty, remains the defining statement in the band’s catalog and the centerpiece of “Satanic Attack Live!”

First-off: Great video. Incredible video. Troye Sivan’s clip for his new single “Party” opens on a muddy medieval battlefield, with narration from the wizened and immediately recognizable tones of Sir Ian McKellen. (Sivan has known McKellen for more than half of his life; the two were in a stage production of Waiting For Godot together when Sivan was 14.) The song kicks in when Sivan gets back to his castle and gets into a choreography-heavy bacchanalia. Be warned: There’s some NSFW action in there. But the whole thing looks astonishing, and it really moves. The song is good, too!

Between Paramore, her solo career, the new side project Power Snatch, and a litany of guest features, Hayley Williams has been involved with a lot of great music over the years. That incredible streak of output continues today with an appearance on Beabadoobee’s newly released Pylon. But of all those Williams tunes, the best-known is almost certainly “Airplanes,” a collaboration with rapper B.o.B that went to #2 on the Hot 100 (and hit #1 in the UK!) back in 2010. If my colleague Tom Breihan ever launches a Number Twos column, I greatly look forward to his column on that one.

Heavy, psychedelic, and atmospherically intense – Motorowl from Thuringia, Germany, craft sonic landscapes that fuse doom, prog, and psychedelic rock into a sound uniquely their own. Since forming in 2014, the band has delivered music that’s as emotionally deep as it is sonically massive.

Blending the weight of classic heavy rock with 70s progressive influences and modern post-metal textures, Motorowl conjure a dense, cinematic sound. Crushing guitars, analog synths, commanding vocals, and driving rhythms merge into songs that are both heavy and melodic, dark yet captivating.

After three full length albums (two on Century Media), Motorowl recently signed to Karisma Records, and the band comments: “We’re stoked to announce that we’ve teamed up with Bergen-based Karisma Records to release our new music worldwide.”

Max Hemman of Motorowl has this to say about Water Line:
Water Line is a song about a story my grandfather and his friends used to tell me.
Near my family’s cabin in the woods, a small settlement was once flooded to make room for the river and create a reservoir. “Don’t dive too deep, or you’ll hit the church,” they used to say. Back then, it sounded to me like an entire village was lying down there beneath the water, as if it were still there, preserved underwater.
That image has stayed with me my whole life. Even now, knowing that it was actually just a long abandoned mill and the farm surrounding it, I often look out at that spot and imagine what it must have looked like back then. I think about the people who lived there and eventually had to leave their homes because the water was coming.
That image became Water Line. The song tells the story of this submerged place and the people who, in my imagination, are still living down there.

Water Line is the first in a series of songs we’ve written about the myths, stories, and legends from the area where we grew up.
