Ginger Wildheart is an unstoppable force. Faced with his recent cancer diagnosis, he has taken the decision to say ‘f*ck that!’ and has vowed to rock for as long as he can physically stand on a stage. Music has always … Continue reading →
Seattle’s North Beach Gritty crafts sweeping, blues-based rock driven by the songs of writer, singer, and guitarist Josh Braff.
Their new track, “For Real,” is a slow burner with powerful vocals and an irresistibly catchy chorus. It’s direct, well-executed, and performed with skill by the band, who are set to release a new EP this fall featuring Ben Smith (Heart), Bob Pantella (Monster Magnet), guitarists Nick Powell and Oz Noy, Grammy-winning slide guitarist Robert Randolph, and bassist/producer Geoff Ott.
For Real is a very cool song that makes you want to listen to it again. Give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below and follow the band if you like what you hear.
Olivia Rodrigo used her surprise slot at Primavera Sound this weekend to showcase something very special alongside The Cure’s Robert Smith before his headline set.
She revealed that the two of them have collaborated on a new track, set to appear on her upcoming album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl that’s so in love’. Titled ‘what’s wrong with me’, she introduced the song by saying, “it’s really special to me for so many reasons, primarily because it’s my first collaboration. I can’t believe this song exists and with the person that it exists with.”
Sonically, it is a soft and tear-stained synth-laden ballad, one that allows the heartwrenching words that accompany it to take the forefront. Stories of not being able to get out of bed but unable to eat or sleep but being told by others that there’s nothing actually wrong, it’s a raw and very real look at what it means to have the weight of the world on your shoulders.
It’s the perfect sentiment for Robert Smith to deliver alongside Olivia, as an artist who has delivered the most perfectly tender form of melancholy for the last 50 years. Hearing the two premiere what is clearly a very intimate and personal piece of music is emotional to say the least, and even at this early stage feels like it will be a pivotal cornerstone in this new era of Olivia’s sensational story.

‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ is set for release on release later this week on June 12 via Geffen Records.
Here is previous single ‘the cure’, which feels rather apt:
Linkin Park have revealed that they have made a new film, telling the story of bringing their incredible and emotional new chapter to life.
The film is set to be titled ‘Unshatter’ and will be coming to theatres worldwide at some point in the near future.
A short teaser for the picture was posted to the band’s socials just before they took the stage for their headline slot at Rock Am Ring this weekend, which gives a quick look at the tone that it will be taking. Created the band’s own Joe Hahn, it appears that the film is going to follow the band’s journey of finding their way once again in the wake of the passing of vocalist Chester Bennington. From studio time to live footage, photo shoots to interview parts, it’s going to be a wars-and-all look at what it means to find your purpose once again when everything you know feels like it has got lost.
It is all epitomised by one beautiful line from the band’s 2010 track ‘Waiting For The End’; the hardest part of ending is starting again.
You can sign up for updates for when and where the film will be shown at unshattermovie.com
The band will be back on stage this weekend as they headline Download Festival alongside Limp Bizkit and Guns N’ Roses.

BMG has announced a new standalone reissue of the Emerson, Lake & Palmerlegendary live album Works Live, arriving on 24 July across 2LP, 2CD and digital formats. Featuring fully remastered audio alongside updated liner notes, the release shines a fresh spotlight on one of the band’s most ambitious live recordings and will be available as a standalone title for the first time in more than 30 years.
Originally released in 1979 as In Concert, the album captured ELP during their landmark 1977 North American orchestral tour. Drawn primarily from performances at Montreal’s Olympic Stadium, the recordings showcase the trio blending progressive rock, classical music and theatrical live performance at the height of their powers.
The collection includes fan favourites such as Fanfare For The Common Man, Knife-Edge, Pictures At An Exhibition and Peter Gunn.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer – Works Live will be released by BMG on 24 July in digital and physical formats.
Although originally issued as a single LP following the band’s breakup, Works Live was later expanded into a double-disc edition in 1993, restoring much of the material originally intended for the project. This new BMG edition revisits that expanded presentation with refreshed packaging and updated notes, offering fans the definitive version of a pivotal release in the Emerson, Lake & Palmer catalogue.
Few bands embodied the ambition and scale of progressive rock quite like Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Formed in 1970 by Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer, the trio sold more than 40 million albums worldwide and became renowned for their virtuosic musicianship and spectacular arena performances.
The Works era remains one of the most celebrated chapters in the band’s history, particularly due to the decision to tour with a full orchestra, a move that proved both creatively groundbreaking and financially challenging. The performances preserved on Works Live capture that unique moment in progressive rock history with all the grandeur, technical brilliance and energy that defined ELP’s live reputation.
The reissue arrives amid renewed interest in the band’s legacy, with Carl Palmer recently announcing forthcoming UK dates for his An Evening With ELP live shows in 2027. Tickets are on sale via ELPTickets.com.
Works Live will be released by BMG on 24 July in digital and physical formats. Pre-orders are available from elp.lnk.to/WorksLive

The debut release by yet another supergroup and perhaps the most unsurprising facet of Lex Legion is the style, which leans heavily on the common factor for four-fifths of the band – King Diamond. We have long-standing KD guitarist Andy La Rocque, and former members Pete Blakk (guitar), bassist Hal Patino, and drummer Mikkey Dee.
That unit was responsible for the albums Them and Conspiracy. This was back in 1988/89, and as we know, at least one of the band then achieved greatness with one of the best bands the world has ever seen.
It is the addition of Pagan Mind singer Nils Rue that really nudges Lex Legion into the KD territory, though, for whether you like it or not, his vocal range is at times eerily close to the King.
“This is music for fans of heyday Iron Maiden, Queensrÿche, Accept and, yes, King Diamond,” says their website. And you cannot really argue. Apart from Accept, whose last few albums have been consistently reliable if unremarkable, it is a reasonable argument that the other bands’ best work was in the halcyon days of the mid-late ’80s.
“Lex Legion is totally written the way we thought in the ’80s,” said Mikkey Dee. “We wrote what we wanted, and if you liked it, that was a great bonus. If you didn’t like it, that was fine with us, too.”
If you like heavy riffs, songs that follow a standard formula and are performed to a high standard, then Lex Legion may well be of interest. If you do not want to listen to the same old song churned around in various formats, then maybe you should walk on by.
The lead singles open the album. First up, Sleep Eternally, which is as cliched Heavy Metal as you will get, with Rue screaming over the opening riffs before a steady tempo kicks in. It is well played, sharp on production, but suffers from one of the worst fade-outs I have ever heard. It really does throwback to the ’80s in that context.
Gypsy Tears is up next and again relies on Rue’s high-pitched vocals at the start, a pattern of repetition already emerging. As the album progresses, there are certainly flashes that impress. The guitar work is razor sharp, and Dee’s drums are as solid as ever, something that Scorpions fans will no doubt have appreciated in the decade since the sad demise of Motörhead.
Big, bombastic, it is true Heavy Metal in the form that we grew up with.
(I Am) The Resurrected has more than a nod to Helloween’s classic Keepers era, if slightly slower in speed, whilst Lost Inside is one of the better tracks here, a real tub thumper that has more than a hint of Iron Maiden in the mix.
And then there is the traditional finale. Far Away, the sentimental ballad here is an instrumental which allows the four former bandmates to have one last gentle collaboration. Another fade kills it, but it is a reasonable finish.
On the one hand, Lex Legion is a solid slab of ’80s Metal, unashamedly so, and given the personnel involved, that is not really a surprise. But it is also treading a well-worn path that brings absolutely nothing new to the table.
So, it really depends on what you want. I certainly enjoyed it for a couple of listens, but it would not be something I would want to listen to on repeat.
Lex Legion release their debut album Lex Legion on 12 June 2026 via MNRK Music Group. There is talk of touring next year. Pre-orders are available from lexlegion.ffm.to/lexlegion-album.
