Sharon Osbourne Explodes Over Outraged Critics Labeling Interactive Ozzy AI Avatar a ‘Cash Grab’ and Boldly Defies the Global Backlash

The fierce, protective masterminds behind the estate of the late, great Prince of Darkness have officially taken off the gloves to battle a wave of public outrage. Following their blockbuster announcement at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, the Osbourne family has faced a wall of online cynicism, with many purists labeling their upcoming interactive Ozzy AI avatar a crass, artificial commercial exploit. Now, speaking directly on the latest episode of The Osbournes podcast, both Sharon and Jack Osbourne have delivered a scorched-earth defense of the technology, explicitly telling critics where to go while unmasking the intimate, deeply personal reasons behind the digital resurrection.

“This Isn’t Terminator”: Jack Osbourne Exposes the Tech Behind “Closed AI”
A central focal point of the fan backlash stems from a profound misunderstanding of the actual technology being deployed. Many fear a rogue, automated system generating completely fake statements under the legendary Black Sabbath singer‘s identity.
Jack Osbourne addressed these exact concerns with blunt precision, drawing a massive line between open-source algorithms and the highly restricted framework they have engineered for the Prince of Darkness: “What we’re doing — this isn’t, and I’ve said it, this isn’t ChatGPT with dad’s face on it,” Jack explained. “It’s a closed A.I., so it’s not connected to the Internet. We build a database, and I cannot emphasize enough is that this is only information that either my dad said or was accurate or was written accurately about him… It is not Claude or ChatGPT that you can ask it any question about anything.”
Addressing the more dramatic online comments comparing the project to science fiction doomsday scenarios, Jack didn’t hold back his sarcasm: “Someone said, ‘Oh, it’s dangerous. You can’t control it.’ And I was, like, ‘What the fuck do you think this is, Terminator? It’s gonna go sentient and next thing you know Ozzy’s gonna launch the nukes?’ For me, it’s not about pretending he’s still alive. For me, it’s about making sure he’s never forgotten.”

Sharon Explodes: “I Don’t Need Your Money”
While Jack focused on the mathematical and structural safety of the database, matrix manager Sharon Osbourne took aim squarely at the moral accusations of financial exploitation. Noting that the project has actually been in careful R&D development behind closed doors for over ten years, Sharon made it clear that she feels zero obligation to appease the internet court of public opinion.
“Technology moves on and I’m sorry for those people,” Sharon fired back. “I’m not asking you to come. I don’t want your fucking money. I don’t need your fucking money. I’m doing very well, actually, and I always have my entire life… And the thing is, for somebody to turn around to me and say I’m doing a cash grab — no, you don’t know my husband, okay? I know my husband and my husband would say to me over and over, ‘After I go, how long do you think I’ll be remembered? How long do you think?’”
Sharon fiercely continuous: “The thing is I don’t have to justify why we do to any fucker. I don’t have to justify. What do they think we’re gonna do? I’m gonna hock my husband around selling weed killer on an ad or selling cigarettes or beer? Do you think I’m gonna do that? … And we’re moving with the times… It’s like saying, ‘Why do you need a CD when you have a vinyl record?’ You move with the times. And this is great technology and I’m not gonna let anyone bastardize my husband.”
LIVE & LOUD: Stream the World’s Hardest Radio Station 24/7The Digital DNA Blueprint: Filling Arenas via Holoportation
The family’s defense was backed up heavily by their technology partners. To build the avatar, the Osbournes teamed up with HYPERREAL, an elite digital identity firm founded by Academy Award-winning visual effects pioneers. The company utilizes a patented end-to-end “Digital DNA” platform to capture an authenticated performer’s precise likeness, vocal character, and spatial physical movement.
The actual interactive deployment will occur inside Proto Luma units—state-of-the-art, 86-inch multi-touch volumetric holoportation displays outfitted with 4K resolution, spatial computing configurations, and high-fidelity speakers. The experience will allow real-time conversational dialogue where fans can look a life-sized Ozzy in the eye, ask a question, and receive an authentic vocal response drawn entirely from approved historical source material.
While admitting that the music business is fundamentally a commercial enterprise, Jack summarized the family’s ultimate mission statement with absolute clarity: “At the end of the day, if keeping Dad alive and accessible to a fan is a cash grab, then fucking guilty as charged because at the end of the day, entertainment and the industry that we’re in, none of this is for fucking charity. But it’s something that we’ll pass on through our family, and it’s for our grandkids. And that’s it.”

The Undying Presence of the Prince of Darkness
Born in Aston, Birmingham in 1948, John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne altered the global cultural landscape forever as the original frontman of Black Sabbath, effectively inventing the heavy metal genre with their 1970 self-titled debut. After parting ways with the band, Ozzy pulled off one of the greatest second acts in rock history alongside his wife and manager Sharon, launching a multi-platinum solo career that introduced guitar icons like Randy Rhoads and Zakk Wylde to the world, culminating in over 100 million total album sales and a 2024 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist.
Following his passing, the Osbourne family’s decision to preserve his identity via HYPERREAL’s patented systems follows a historical lineage of technical innovation—stretching from their genre-defining Ozzfest touring models to their groundbreaking early-2000s MTV reality series. By ensuring total family ownership and strict data control over his digital imprint, they are establishing a new legal and creative blueprint for how the legacy of rock royalty is managed for generations to come.
Now that Sharon and Jack have laid down the law regarding the closed-loop technology powering the Prince of Darkness, the floor belongs to the Loaded Radio family. Do you see this interactive Proto Luma experience as a beautiful, forward-thinking way to keep Ozzy’s heart and soul accessible to future generations, or does conversational AI cross a line for you?
