Mermaid Island Releases āPanic Buttonā Single and Music Video
Los Angeles punk band Mermaid Island has released a new single and accompanying music video for “Panic Button.” The track begins as a slow-burning, folk-tinged ballad before transitioning into an anthemic, high-energy chorus, leaning into the aggressive grit that has defined the band’s output.
Drawing influence from high-energy punk rock, early 2000s pop-punk, and folk arrangements, the group tracks much of their material live to capture the raw, chaotic energy of their stage performances. Their music frequently explores heavy thematic territory, tackling concepts of alienation, addiction, escapism, and bodily autonomy.
“Panic Button” serves as the final single before the release of the band’s self-titled debut full-length album, which is scheduled to arrive next week on June 12 via Anxious and Angry. Following the release, the band will be supporting the new record with live performances alongside Dillinger Four and Off With Their Heads this summer.

sheās green ā āClose Your Eyesā
The dreamy Minneapolis rockers she’s green just played the New York version of the shoegaze fest Slide Away, and they’re getting ready to release their new EP Swallowtail. We’ve already posted the early tracks “Mettle” and “Paper Thin,” and now they’ve shared the gauzy, expansive seven-minute song “Close Your Eyes.” This one is all chiming, sighing textures, and I can really get lost in it. Here’s what bandleader Zofia Smith says about it:
