Today, German power metal force BRAINSTORM are kicking off their upcoming tour run and celebrate the moment with a special release: their cover version of “Celebrate Youth” is now available digitally for the very first time! The track was previously only available as an exclusive CD bonus track on their latest studio album Plague Of Rats, released via RPM in 2025.

“With ‘Celebrate Youth,’ we chose a song that meant a lot to me personally in my early Youth,” Andy B. Franck reveals“Yes, not a metal song but a song that perfectly reflected that era and my feeling as a young person of wanting to achieve a lot. Listening to the younger generation, giving them a voice… I don’t think I’ve ever really matured that much deep down, I’ve retained that feeling and still think and feel like a young guy. This thing rocks, and we had a lot of fun recording it. The Youth, then and now, needs to be heard and understood. This song is the perfect statement about that topic.”

    Stream the single here: https://brainstorm.rpm.link/youthPR

The digital release follows the overwhelming response to the band’s cover of Don Henley‘s classic “Boys Of Summer”, which was released in August last year and quickly gained strong traction across streaming platforms.

Released in early 2025 via Reigning Phoenix Music, Plague Of Rats marks another milestone in BRAINSTORM’s long career. The album combines the band’s trademark sound – powerful riffs, soaring melodies and gripping choruses, with a renewed intensity and modern production. With over nearly three decades of history, worldwide touring and numerous chart placements, BRAINSTORM remain one of the most consistent and respected acts in German metal. • Mimi Barks has pushed her UK tour back to September

Mimi Barks has announced that her UK headlining tour, due to start in a couple of weeks on March 31, has been pushed back to September, following delays in getting new music ready.

I know a lot of you were ready for these shows and I appreciate the energy and support around them,” wrote Mimi in a post on Instagram. I’m currently finishing up my new, fully independent EP and the plan was always to have at least two singles out before the tour began. That rollout hasn’t lined up the way it should have, so I’m taking a little more time to release the music properly.

I want to give you the best possible experience at my shows and the new EP is an important part of that vision. Swarm6ix is still gonna be on the bill and all tickets remain valid for the new dates. There will also be further announcements coming soon.

And to balance the news a bit, the first new single drops April 2. I’m excited to finally share it with you.”

Mimi has spent the past couple of months in America, working on music ahead of the Deaddollz tour across the U.S., with Little Miss Nasty and GG Magree.

In December, she announced the tour with the promise of new music, signifying the start of a new chapter after overcoming problems in making her next album.

I went silent because something was taken from me,” she explained. My album, stolen by the person I created it with. But defeat isn’t the downfall, it’s an obstacle, and obstacles sharpen the mind. What was lost became fuel. Transform pain into creation, shape something from nothing. Expression is the purpose.

I return with new music, a new EP in 2026 and a flood of new visuals forged from the aftermath. Not a replacement, but a rebirth. A new era begins now.

Heavier. Clearer. Uncompromised. I’m looking forward to being back in the UK to celebrate new beginnings…”

The tour now starts on September 9

  • Asia In Stunning Form On New Live In England Album

Progressive rock supergroup Asia return with the first of three new live albums. This is Night One

Progressive rock supergroup Asia return with the first of three new live albums. Recorded at Trading Boundaries in Sussex in April 2025 (and reviewed in MetalTalk), this lineup features original member Geoff Downes, John Mitchell (guitar and backing vocals), Virgil Donati (drums) and the incredible Harry Whitley (bass and lead vocals).

    Asia – Live In England

    Release Date: 13 March 2026

    Words: Robert Adams

For this album, the first of three planned, the band play their self-titled debut album in full, along with bonus tracks Ride Easy, The Heat Goes On, and a rocking cover of The Buggles Video Killed The Radio Star.

These three gigs at Trading Boundaries were a chance for the band to road test the material before flying to Japan to play arenas. Given that they were live rehearsals, the band sound incredible and more than do the material justice.

It is a daunting prospect for any musician to take over from bona fide legends. John Mitchell (Arena, Frost*, It Bites) rises to the occasion magnificently, taking on Steve Howe’s guitar parts.

The same can be said for Virgil Donati (Planet X) with Carl Palmer’s iconic drumming. Most eyes and ears are on Harry Whitley as he tackles the late John Wetton’s bass lines and lead vocals. It is a challenge that Whitley more than rises to, and his performance is nothing short of incredible.

“Revisiting the entire first ASIA album brought all the great memories flooding back from 43 years ago,” Original member Geoff Downes has said. “In the studio with John, Steve, Carl and, of course, the great Mike Stone at the production helm.”

Leading off with Heat Of The Moment, Asia’s most successful single (reaching #15 in the UK singles chart), it quickly becomes apparent that this is way more than a tribute act.

John Mitchell also expressed his love for this track. “Heat Of The Moment is a very dear song close to my heart. Having performed it a vast number of times over the years both previously with the John Wetton solo band and with John and Geoff in Icon, from the quiet introspective acoustic version at The Borderline to the full band amped up version in front of 12000 strong in St Petersburg, it is both an uplifting anthem and a quiet tonic for the soul which never fails to bring warmth to the many.”

As mentioned in Adrian Stonley’s fantastic review of the first two shows at Trading Boundaries, Asia are as strong musically as they have ever been.

I bought the first Asia album when it came out back in 1982. In fact, I had the picture disc version featuring Roger Dean’s iconic artwork. Listening to this new live recording of that wonderful debut brought me straight back to all those years ago.

The great thing is, it has aged surprisingly well. Sure, there are a few moments that scream ’80s, but on the whole, it remains fresh. That is a testament to the fantastic songwriting contained within the album.

This new live recording, produced impeccably by John Mitchell, sounds so good.

“I was reminded of what a collection of great songs and performances made up the album,” Downes said, “variety and musical dynamics to the fore. When we recorded it again earlier this year, I was drawn to some of the less featured tracks and realised how much they played an important part of overall album.”

Now, Asia, Live In England, should be on every rock fan’s playlist. Do yourselves a favour and introduce, or reintroduce yourselves to Asia.

This lineup really is something special indeed.

Asia – Live In England is released on 13 March 2026 via Frontiers Music s.r.l. For more details, visit ffm.bio/asia-liveinengland.

  • THE PRETTY RECKLESS Shares New Single “When I Wake Up” From Upcoming Album “Dear God” & Announces 2026 World Tour

Record-breaking, multiplatinum rock band The Pretty Reckless have begun an explosive new era with the announcement of their forthcoming fifth studio album Dear God as well as a 2026 headlining world tour. Arriving alongside the announcement is their new single “When I Wake Up” out now via Fearless Records.

Marking the beginning of a new creative chapter, Dear God embraces vulnerability, intensity and artistic freedom, inviting listeners into one of the band’s most raw and uncompromising records yet. The band approached the album with a renewed commitment to authenticity, creating a record defined by honest performance and diaristic songwriting. The high-octane new single “When I Wake Up” explores a new sound for the band while also staying true to what has become their signature: searing guitar, thunderous drums and Momsen’s unmistakable powerhouse vocal.

Speaking about the song and new album, frontwoman Taylor Momsen said: “‘When I Wake Up’ is the story of a dream becoming a nightmare. When a life of excess leads you on a rollercoaster that is doomed to crash but you just can’t see it. It’s a good time…”

The Pretty Reckless will bring their electrifying stage performance to fans across the world with their all-new headlining Dear God Tour. The tour will kick off in North America, making stops in New Orleans, Dallas, Los Angeles, and New York before wrapping in Europe, see full tour routing below. This tour follows their incredible two-year long trek across the globe alongside AC/DC on the PWR UP Tour.

This upcoming marquee year follows a remarkable 12 months for the band, which included an acclaimed performance at the prestigious 2026 Musicares Person of the Year Gala, where Taylor honored the legendary Mariah Carey alongside the Foo Fighters, as well as a performance at the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame where Taylor performed with Soundgarden for their induction. Additionally, the band released their holiday EP Taylor Momsen’s Pretty Reckless Christmas, which reignited over two decades of global fandom and nostalgia.

DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring Stud Farm Mafia

Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil’s Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It’s not your average desert island and we’ll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil’s Island we find Stud Farm Mafia sat on the beach. The island is far from their home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil’s Island?

    Find out now…

Welcome to The Razors’e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don’t worry about it’s name I’m sure it’s not as bad as that would suggest.

You’re marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn’t live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

Nath – Permission to Land by The Darkness. This was the first band I discovered that looked like something from my dad’s record collection but actually wasn’t — it was something new. “Black Shuck” is my favourite album opener ever.

Cole – Paranoid by Black Sabbath. When I started getting into music this was a name that kept cropping up. I saw the cover in HMV, bought it, and listened to it all the way through, then started it straight back up and listened over and over again. Obviously I knew “Paranoid”, but it’s funny how your favourite tracks, once you really know an album, aren’t usually the hit singles.

Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?

Nath – Opposites by Biffy Clyro

Cole – The Fat of the Land by The Prodigy

There’s also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What’s your tipple of choice?

Cole – Got to be a Malibu and Coke.

    Nath – Old reliable Guinness.

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?

Nath – A Rose Tattoo tour shirt from when I saw them in Oxford.

Cole – My Black Sabbath gym vest. Perfect for a desert island.

You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?

    Cole – Stephen Fry.

    Nath – Ricky Gervais.

DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Stud Farm Mafia

There’s a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

Nath – The live album If You Want Blood by AC/DC.

Cole – You took the words right out of my mouth.

You’re getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

    Nath – Sting, I reckon.

Cole – Bono. They’re probably the only ones who’d actually do anything about it.

You’ve been stuck here a while and food supplies are running low. There’s only one thing for it… which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

Cole – Luke’s a bit stringy, not much good eating on him, and Rik’s tattoos would probably taste bad. Sorry, Nath.

Nath – I guess I’ll have to take one for the team.

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

Nath – Malcolm Young of AC/DC, I think.

Cole – Rob Halford of Judas Priest. Seen it all, done it all, still smiling.

  • Five For Friday: March 13, 2026

    Greetings, Decibel readers!

We’ve got a of solid, brutal, and bottle-breaking music to listen to this weekend — so let’s get right to it!

Lamb of God – Into Oblivion

At this point in their long and storied journey, it seems Lamb of God is seeking to infuse a renewed spirit into their music and image. The band’s new logo reflects a sense of maturity and simplicity, though I think the classic emblem was one of the only proper uses of Papyrus font. The band’s style is still recognizably their own on Into Oblivion, but there’s a very evident attempt to make everything sound “big.” It produces an atmosphere that glows through the speakers and reminds the listener a bit more of the acts the band influenced in the 2010s. But fear not, the riffing style, Randy’s signature growl, and the punishing rhythms are all intact. I will always be an unapologetic defender of early-2000s metalcore and the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, so I will always be excited for a new Lamb of God record. After all, when some of the big metal giants start to leave us, we may come to rely on our Richmond-based overlords to guide the way.

Monstrosity – The Colossal Rage Screams from Beneath the Surface

The latest from the Floridian death metal institution, and their followup to 2018’s The Passage of ExistenceScreams from Beneath the Surface hits with maximum impact, but has a smooth quality that makes everything seem like an elegant, but very deadly machine. Reminds me a lot of the last few Dying Fetus albums in that way. That’s a good thing.

    Stream: Apple Music

    Mors.Void.Discipline – Txketh)ëké

Horrifying, nightmarish blackened death metal. Every once in awhile, something crosses my path that just makes me say “hell yea” immediately. This album is definitely in that category, as it embodies everything non-metal listeners hate about this music. If you put something on and can imagine a room of your normie coworkers expressing disgust or indignation, and you don’t even get the obligatory “Oh, the music is fine, I just can’t do the vocals” (blah blah blah), you know it’s good. Real good.

    Transilvania – Magia Posthuma

On the other hand, if you’re in the mood for something with more catchy hooks, you should definitely crank this up. Austria’s Transilvania are experts in weaving their metallic vampirism into exciting rhythms and compelling guitar work — all while vocalist Possessor leads the way to the catacombs!

    Stream: Apple Music

    Wolfbastard – Satanic Scum Punks

Let’s party. In hell!!! There’s no nonsense here, just black metal punk rock with the nihilism turned to 11. No elegance, no fake showmanship, just lots of songs with “Fuck” and “Bastards” in the song titles, riffs, growls, blastbeats, d-beats, deadbeats, the whole lot. Like if MotörheadBlitz, The Exploited, Venom, and GBH all met in a dark alley and formed a street gang.
