  • Listening Now : Ghostboyrj – Viewers Discretion is Advised (feat. The 6th Letter & Elaquent)

Ghostboyrj’s Viewers Discretion is Advised (feat. The 6th Letter & Elaquent) is a smooth, head-nodding slice of lo-fi hip-hop that thrives on atmosphere and finesse. Built around Elaquent’s lush, soul-chopped production, the track drips with warm textures and dusty grooves, setting the perfect backdrop for laid-back, confident flows. Both emcees glide effortlessly across the beat, delivering introspective bars with a relaxed yet purposeful cadence. There’s a nostalgic undercurrent throughout, balancing playfulness with subtle depth.

  • Listening Now : Minute Taker – Losing Self-Control

Minute Taker’s Losing Self-Control is a beautifully tension-laced synthpop gem, balancing vulnerability with cinematic flair. Built on warm analogue synths, steady drum patterns, and expansive guitar textures, the track channels a nostalgic early ’80s aesthetic while remaining emotionally immediate. The vocals carry a fragile intensity, perfectly capturing the push-and-pull between restraint and desire. As the arrangement unfolds, it swells into a euphoric yet melancholic climax, where romance and risk collide.

Elegant, introspective, and immersive, this is synth-driven storytelling at its most affecting.

  • Erra and Currents Bring Stacked Metalcore Lineup to Anaheim

Co-headliners ERRA and Currents brought a stacked lineup to the House of Blues Anaheim on Saturday, April 11 heading into the final week of the Silence Follows tour. The tour is supporting ERRA’s latest release silence outlives the earth and Currents’ latest EP All That Follows.

    Aviana

The Swedish progressive metalcore band Aviana opened the set in a big way. Vocalist Joel Holmqvist and Fear, Death, and Dark, the masked collective behind the music, put on a headline-worthy show. The big production lights and LED backdrop added to the main-event energy. The latest album Void is out now on Arising Empire.

    Caskets

With an even bigger production, British band Caskets was up next. There were no masked musicians, but they made use of the backdrop to display album art from their latest release The Only Heaven You’ll Know. The album is out now on SharpTone. The band will perform at Inkarceration in Ohio this summer and Louder than Life in the fall.

    Currents

Caskets labelmates Currents were up next. It was easy to see how this show sold out so quickly with such strong openers, and Caskets as only one of two headliners. If the crowd wasn’t already expecting ERRA, the show could have ended here, and the crowd would have left satisfied. Currents are ready for the arenas. The band will play the international festival circuit before returning for Louder than Life in September.

    ERRA

Closing out this stop was ERRA. It’s hard to believe they were playing the Echoplex on the Cure album cycle. The band gets bigger and better, but they still have an accessible feel. They pull off musical precision without pretension. The only complaint about a show with this many powerhouse bands is there’s only an hour for each co-headliner and a half-hour for the support bands. ERRA will also be at Louder than Life. Until then, the new album is out on UNFD now.

  • Listening Now : KOBAIEN – OBSESSION

KOBAIEN’s OBSESSION is a dark, driving tech house cut built for late-night floors and locked-in momentum. A tight, rolling groove anchors the track, while punchy basslines and crisp percussive elements keep things moving with precision. The vocal fragments are used sparingly, acting as hypnotic hooks rather than focal points, adding to the track’s obsessive pull. Subtle textures and filter shifts keep the energy evolving without breaking the flow.

Stripped, focused, and effective, OBSESSION delivers that essential tech house balance between minimalism and impact.

  • Listening Now : Shanny & The East Men – Ghosts

Shanny & The East Men’s Ghosts is an ethereal indie rock gem, carried by lush textures and a beautifully elusive vocal presence. The female vocals glide effortlessly above the instrumentation, adding a dreamy, almost weightless quality to the track. Beneath that, a confident melodic line keeps everything grounded, giving the song both direction and emotional pull. There’s a subtle balance between atmosphere and structure, allowing it to feel immersive without drifting too far.

Elegant and understated, Ghosts leaves a lasting impression through its softness and melodic clarity.
