  • UADA Release Cover of Rome’s “Der Brandtaucher”

    uada_band

Black metal outfit UADA released another acoustic cover of a track you’re unlikely to know. Rather than playing something track like Nirvana’s “Something in the Way” again, they opted for “Der Brandtaucher” by neo-folk act Rome.

The song comes a little less than a month away from the release of her new album Interwoven and the start of their North American tour with Mortiis, “Der Brandtaucher” is the latest acoustic cover dropped by the band. UADA said this song meant a lot to the band.

“Originally composed by Jerome Reuter and Patrick Damiani, this rendition was the final track chosen for Interwoven. Having followed Rome since 2008’s Masse Mensch Material, ‘Der Brandtaucher’ held deep personal resonance, especially during the most difficult chapter of my life. Its inclusion was not simply artistic – it was necessary.”

Interwoven will be released on April 10 via Eisenwald Records, but you can pre-order the album today.

In addition to the release of their next album, UADA are also going to be co-headlining with Mortiis for a run of shows throughout North America dubbed the ‘Witches of Dystopia’ tour. You can find the dates for that below.

  • I Want It More Than You is Mick J. Clark’s Single Out Now

    Good Day Noir Family,
A cool rhythm paves the way for “I Want It More Than You” by Mick J. Clark, supported by a subtly hypnotic arpeggio that draws the listener inward.

I Want It More Than You is Mick J. Clark’s Single Out Now

The groove locks in early, steady and inviting, and it immediately encourages that instinctive foot tap. Then the voice enters with a vintage warmth that feels familiar and assured.

There’s a hint of Dire Straits in the phrasing and relaxed control, especially in the way the vocal rides the groove rather than dominating it.

The track never settles into nostalgia alone. The production feels clean and current, giving the song a contemporary sheen. The melodic structure stands out. The chorus carries an infectious quality, simple enough to sing along with yet layered enough to remain interesting on repeated listens. That balance is not easy to achieve, and Clark handles it with compositional confidence.

As the song progresses, it maintains momentum without rushing. The dynamic build feels natural. Verses hold the groove tightly, while the chorus opens up just enough to provide lift. In addition, the guitar solo adds a refined touch, enriching the melodic line rather than interrupting it. The phrasing feels thoughtful, enhancing the song’s emotional arc.

The arrangement demonstrates restraint. Even though the energy remains consistent from beginning to end, the track avoids excess. Each instrument has space, and the interplay between rhythm and melody remains clear. This clarity allows the hook to shine without overwhelming the listener.

The overall effect is engaging and uplifting. The groove envelops you gently, and the melody lingers long after the final note fades. Clark proves that strong songwriting and solid structure can carry a track far. “I Want It More Than You” is a polished and vibrant single that reveals musical maturity and instinct.

  • Soul Free is Seßler/Zeeb’s Single Out Now

    Good Day Noir Family,
Seßler/Zeeb’s “Soul Free” caught my attention immediately through its bold sonic choices.

Soul Free is Seßler/Zeeb’s Single Out Now

The opening feels almost playful, as if the arrangement is teasing the listener with bouncing tones that poke at your neurons.

There’s a sly sense of humor embedded in the production. However, beneath that surface lies careful construction.

When the vocal enters, it carries a slightly sly cadence, understated yet full of personality. The delivery is original, and that originality becomes the track’s defining trait. This duo clearly refuses to chase trends. They carve out an experimental path shaped by subtle shades of Bowie, Brian Eno, and even Peter Gabriel. Yet their music never collapses into imitation. Those influences serve only as distant reference points within a sound that feels distinctly their own.

The rhythm moves with urgency, steady and driving. At the same time, harmonic variations constantly shift the ground beneath your feet. The arrangements are rich, layered with progressions that brush against avant-garde and progressive territory. Even so, the complexity never overwhelms. The duo shows uncommon compositional control, ensuring that intricacy enhances rather than distracts. That balance is not easy to achieve.

The track carries a strange duality. At moments, it evokes the neon glow of an ’80s arcade, full of quirky electronic charm. Then, almost without warning, it leans forward into something futuristic and forward-thinking. This tension between retro and future gives “Soul Free” its pulse. The production feels detailed but never excessive, and each sonic twist adds momentum rather than confusion.

As the song unfolds, the interplay between structure and experimentation becomes clearer. Seßler/Zeeb understand dynamics; they know when to stretch a phrase and when to snap it back into rhythm. The harmonic turns keep the listener alert, making each section feel fresh.

“Soul Free” stands as a daring and intelligent single. Seßler/Zeeb deliver a track that bridges eras while maintaining a unique artistic identity. I strongly recommend giving this duo your attention.

A harpsichord line and a voice full of ache changed everything for the Left Banke in 1966. Out of New York City came a band that carved out a very specific place in pop history by blending rock instrumentation with string arrangements and classical influences, a sound that later became closely associated with the phrase baroque pop. The group was formed by keyboard player Michael Brown and bassist Tom Finn, who had previously worked together in the group the Speakers, and the original lineup also included singer Steve Martin Caro, guitarist Jeff Winfield, and drummer George Cameron.
