When the Yugoslav synth scene comes up in conversation, it’s impossible not to mention Beograd, a highly influential

Polaris have returned with a new track called ‘WITHOUT YOU’, their first new music in three years.

The track finds them paying tribute to their guitarist Ryan Siew, who passed away in 2023, as well as speaking candidly about the ongoing grief and sorrow they feel whilst they navigate a path forwards without him.

The result is punishing, poignant and heartbreakingly powerful.

The band had this to say about the track, stating, “Never did we imagine that we would one day have reason to write this song. But three years on, we find ourselves still making sense of this immeasurable tragedy, and what it has meant to be left in the wake. This is the sound of crushing loss, shock, grief and heartache, and the beginning of us learning how to share that with the world.”

The band are scheduled to make their return to the UK and Europe later this month as support for I Prevail alongside Amira Elfeky. Here are all the dates:

Scarlet Rebels have released their new single and video Chains and announced their first headline tour in three years. The 2027 UK run begins in Plymouth on 11 February. Chains is the third song taken from the Welsh band’s forthcoming album, Flawed By Design, which is due through Earache Records on 13 November 2026.

The accompanying video was filmed at Chepstow Castle during Scarlet Rebels’ biggest headline show to date, capturing the band in front of a large home crowd. “We loved the idea of capturing a night of huge importance to the band on camera professionally,” frontman Wayne Doyle says. “We’re thrilled with how it’s turned out and that it’ll serve as a reminder of the evening forever.”

The single follows Don’t Look Down, recently added to the Planet Rock playlist, and This Is Happening Now, which was selected for Classic Rock Magazine’s The Hot List. Recorded with returning producer Chris Clancy, Flawed By Design follows the band’s Top 20 album Where The Colours Meet. The new record combines Scarlet Rebels’ powerful rock songwriting with a more personal and introspective approach.

Doyle says Chains began unexpectedly while he was playing acoustic guitar at home. “This song dropped out of the blue, quite literally. I picked my acoustic guitar up at home, hit the first chord and sang, ‘Set my soul on fire again.’ It went from there. This was the first song we started to work on for the record.

“The song speaks of my internal thoughts and anxieties, the overthinking and overanalysing that can be overbearing and weigh you down, resulting in a plea to be released from that burden, or my ‘chains’, if you will.

“I’m conscious that anyone reading this must think I’m constantly walking around being miserable, but like anything that takes any sort of art form, the point is exaggerated for the greater good.”

British Heavy Metal legends Saxon will release their 25th studio album, Gods Of Thunder, through Silver Lining Music on 22 January 2027. The title track is out now as the album’s first single.

Drawing on history, fantasy, horror, ancient mythology, pagan rites and the enduring spirit of rock ‘n’ roll, the ten-track album was produced by founder and frontman Biff Byford and mixed by Andy Sneap. “Gods Of Thunder is a mighty tale of Celtic mythology, packed with the spirit and power of true Heavy Metal,” Byford says. “Turn it up and bang your head!”

The album brings together Byford’s unmistakable voice, the twin-guitar attack of Doug Scarratt and Brian Tatler, Nigel Glockler’s drums and Tim ‘Nibbs’ Carter’s bass.

Byford’s passion for history runs throughout the record. The Bloody Tower (The Ballad Of Anne Boleyn) recounts the politically charged execution of Anne Boleyn, while Medusa turns to mythology with a taut riff and relentless pace. Remember The Alamo carries the energy of early-’80s NWOBHM, and Scarratt and Tatler come to the fore on Temple Of Rock. Closing track MI5 draws together the Berlin Wall and Cold War espionage.
