Melbourne guitarist, singer and songwriter Kathleen Halloran steps forward with fierce new single ‘Wolves Like You’, a powerful rock statement that marks a defining moment in her evolution as a solo artist. The release arrives alongside the announcement of her long-awaited debut album Nobody’s Baby, set for release on Friday May 8, produced by Roscoe James Irwin (The Cat Empire, The Bamboos, Paul Kelly) and engineered/mixed by Ben Edgar (Gotye, Angus and Julia Stone).

LISTEN TO ‘WOLVES LIKE YOU’ HERE

After fifteen years performing on stages and in studios across Australia, Halloran channels her experience into a track that celebrates resilience, individuality and the quiet strength of women forging their own path in a traditionally male-dominated space. Co-written with Adelaide-based producer and musician Dustyn Lee Stephensen, ‘Wolves Like You’ is ultimately about staying true to the music, and to yourself.

A passionate, rock-forward statement piece, ‘Wolves Like You’ stands as a fierce declaration of strength and self-belief. The track leans into Halloran’s signature duality, guitar firepower balanced with emotional depth. Gritty yet controlled, primal yet deliberate, the song captures an artist fully embracing her strengths.

Marking a significant moment in her career, Halloran reflects on a shifting perspective shaped by years in the industry: “Wolves Like You is about the resilience, defiance, and quiet power of women in the music industry. I’ve been playing guitar professionally for 15 years, and for most of that time I rejected the idea of being defined by gender, or even allowing it into the conversation. Comments like ‘I’ve never heard a girl play like that’ were often well-meaning, but complicated. Something has shifted for me. I’ve realised people feel compelled to speak up because what they’re witnessing is powerful, and I’m really proud of that.”

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker WILK, known for his work with Sarah Blasko, Ella Hooper, Jack Ladder, Gotye and Spiderbait, the accompanying video marks a striking visual shift from Halloran’s previous releases. She explains: “The concept for the video came from director WILK, whose vision shaped the entire aesthetic and feel of the clip. Together, we wanted Wolves Like You to feel raw, smoky and unapologetically powerful, a simple, performance-led studio video with a darker edge. Rock-forward with a subtle psychedelic haze, muted primary colours, harsh lighting and layered multiple exposures give it a 70s-leaning, primal urgency. Visually, it’s a deliberate departure from my previous work.”

Set for release May 8, Nobody’s Baby marks the arrival of a fully realised artist stepping confidently into her solo era. The album features previous releases Find Me Again, Free With Me and Cost of Living, exploring themes of self-discovery, freedom and the emotional highs and lows of pursuing a creative life.

Kathleen Halloran effortlessly bridges the gap between her long-standing reputation as a sought-after ensemble guitarist and this exciting new chapter as a solo artist. The electrifying performer has established herself as one of Australia’s most compelling rising talents, known for her swaggering fretboard flair and magnetic stage presence.

Her playing is fearless and precise, fluent in both raw power and restraint. A true shredder, but never at the expense of feeling, Halloran channels the firepower of the guitar greats who came before her while remaining unmistakably her own. Presence, confidence and force define every performance. To celebrate the release of Nobody’s Baby, Halloran will hit the road this May for a national tour, bringing the new material to stages across the country and giving audiences the chance to experience her powerful guitar work and commanding live show up close.

  • CHLOE STAR – Emergency Contact

CHLOE STAR storms in with unapologetic energy on her latest single “Emergency Contact”.

A punchy pop rock release that turns heartbreak into pure fuel. The reocrd hits with gritty guitar textures and a driving rhythm that refuses to let up, setting the stage for a bold emotional release. Chloe doesn’t hold anything back with her commanding vocals that are raw, and dripping with attitude as she flips pain into power.

The writing cuts deep, unpacking betrayal and emotional fallout with biting precision, but instead of dwelling in the hurt, Chloe transforms it into a fearless declaration of independence. The chorus lands like a statement that is loud, defiant, and impossible to ignore.

There’s a refreshing honesty here, paired with an edge that feels both modern and rebellious. “Emergency Contact” isn’t just a breakup song but it’s a liberation anthem, proving CHLOE STAR is carving out her own lane with confidence and fire.

  • WATCH: Wolf Alice’s Stunning Performance On SNL UK

Wolf Alice were the musical guest on this week’s episode of the newly launched Saturday Night Live UK, and showed why they are one of UK rock’s greatest assets.

Introduced by guest host Jamie Dornan, the band played two songs, both taken from their 2025 BRIT Award-nominated album ‘The Clearing’.

First up was ‘White Horses’, delivered with vigour and vibrancy, as vocalist Ellie Rowsell and drummer Joel Amey beautifully trade vocal refrains. A melodic masterclass that builds and builds to the thunderous crescendo.

And second up was ‘Leaning Against The Wall’, a soft and sensationally touching piece of folk-tinged loveliness. A showcase of how the band can perfectly embody every pacing and stylistic choice that modern rock music has at its disposal, the vocal gymnastics that Ellie delivers will have chills coursing right up your spine.

If that wasn’t enough, the band also took over the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday (March 29) as part of the Teenage Cancer Trust’s annual concert series, which was this year curated by The Cure’s Robert Smith.

As well as filling their set with as many of their classics as possible, there were a few surprises along the way as well. From performing ‘Heavenward’ for the first time since 2020 and ‘Swallowtail’ for the first time since 2016, the band also premiered two brand-new songs as part of a special folk-led segment.

Plenty of surprises, to say the least.

Here is fan-filmed footage of the whole affair.

  • Judas Priest announce one-off London headline show

Judas Priest have just revealed details of a one-off London headline show.

Once the Metal Gods are done headlining Bloodstock in August, they’ll be wrapping up this year’s Faithkeepers run (so far) at the capital’s 5,000-capacity Eventim Apollo on September 21. Support comes from Nevermore, and tickets go on sale this Thursday, April 2 from 10am.

Speaking to Kerrang! last year about how much joy the band still get out of playing live and his favourite thing about gigging, Rob Halford enthused, The feeling of completing yourself. Getting dressed and getting ready to go and do something that you love with every fibre of your being for lots of different reasons. Outside of the performance, it’s just a thrill. I never want to let it go. If I’m not able to do this, I feel like there’s something missing as to what I’m about, why I’m here, and what I do.”

Rob also admitted that his number-one touring essential was Yorkshire Tea: Being a Brit, wherever I go in the world, I’ve got to have my tea,” he said. I take my own stash so I know I’ve got it. I’d put that above everything else, because when I started doing gigs with Priest, there was no phones or emails, there was nothing like that, but I had to have tea. Fifty-odd years later, nothing’s changed.”
