I’d Rather Fly is Soft as Hell’s Single Out Now
Soft as Hell – I’d Rather Fly Review
Soft as Hell entertains us with “I’d Rather Fly” and sets a clear tone from the start.
I’d Rather Fly is Soft as Hell’s Single Out Now
I’d Rather Fly opens with an organ that creates a ritualistic atmosphere. The organ establishes a haunting foundation that feels sacred and eerie.
The track unfolds like a sonic mirage in a desert. Each sound seems carefully chosen to evoke an image of abandonment and desolation. Listeners can almost picture a drone camera tracking the remains of human civilization in a sci-fi setting. The textures shift subtly, maintaining intrigue, never allowing the experience to grow dull. This precise use of instrumental layers reflects Soft as Hell’s ability to paint vivid scenes without lyrics.
Around 3:15, a significant atmospheric shift occurs, moving toward 1970s funk influences. This change introduces warmer tones, funkier rhythmic patterns, and a brighter energy. A kaleidoscopic transition, revealing the wider palette the artist employs. This contrast sparks renewed attention and enriches the journey, breaking the previously hypnotic, steady pulse.
Soft as Hell balances refinement and emotional depth throughout the track. The absence of vocals directs full focus on instrumental storytelling, which requires careful craftsmanship. Each element contributes to a cohesive soundscape, allowing the listener to immerse fully in the sonic world.
The production quality supports the song’s vibe masterfully. The organ’s reverb and harmonic layering emphasize space and mystery. Guitar effects, such as tremolo and fuzz, add texture without overwhelming other instruments. The drums remain restrained, avoiding excess complexity while providing essential rhythm.
Soft as Hell showcases creative ambition and skill through this track. The mix of retro and futuristic elements forms a unique hybrid sound. The ritualistic, hypnotic opening transforms into a vibrant, funky conclusion that intrigues continually. This song embodies an aural narrative fitting for a cinematic visual.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY Share Official Music Video For OZZY OSBOURNE’s Tribute Track, “Ozzy’s Song”
Black Label Society has released the official music video for “Ozzy’s Song,” a tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne, directed by Justin H. Reich of Three Thirty-three Creative. The track closes out the band’s new album, Engines of Demolition, released 03/27 via MNRK Heavy, the follow-up to 2021’s Doom Crew Inc., which also includes previously released singles “Name in Blood”, “Broken and Blind”, “The Gallows”, and “Lord Humungus”.
Speaking to São Paulo’s 89 FM A Rádio Rock, Zakk Wylde explained how the song came together. The music had been sitting in the can for the better part of four years, but the lyrics only came after Ozzy‘s death (via Blabbermouth): “I had the music written ’cause we’d been writing this album for the last three and a half years, almost four years,” he said. “We stockpiled all these songs. And I was really happy with the way the music came out. And then I figured that eventually I’ll finish the song.”
“But then after we laid Ozzy to rest, when we got back home, we took a break from Pantera [touring]. I sat in a little library room in our house. I just put the headphones on at about one o’clock in the morning, and I was looking at a book of Ozzy, and I just wrote the lyrics. And that’s what came out.”
The title itself was never really a decision. Wylde‘s wife, Barbaranne, had been playing the track on repeat in the car, and the working title became the only title it could ever have: “My wife would always be listening to it in the truck,” he said. “She’d be, like, ‘Babe, put on Ozzy‘s song again.’ So that was pretty much just the working title.
“People would always be asking, ‘I wonder since Zakk wrote a song for Dimebag [Darrell Abbott], and now we sing it for Vinnie [Paul Abbott] as well with “In This River” — I wonder if Zakk will write a song for Ozzy on the new album.’ So it’s only fitting. We just called it ‘Ozzy’s Song’. That’s how we ended up with ‘Ozzy’s Song’.”
Wylde also addressed the band’s decision to bring Ozzy‘s “No More Tears” into their current live set — a choice that traces back to his appearance at the BRIT Awards, where he performed the track alongside Robbie Williams, Robert Trujillo, Adam Wakeman, and Tommy Clufetos to mark Ozzy‘s lifetime achievement honour.
“I called the fellows up,” he said. “I said, ‘Man, we’ll put that in the set when we get back home before we go out and do the Engines of Demolition crusade.’ A little ode to the boss.”
Wylde first joined Ozzy‘s band in 1987 after sending the singer a demo tape and went on to play on virtually every Osbourne solo record through the decades, including No More Tears (1991), Ozzmosis (1995), and Black Rain (2007). He formed Black Label Society in 1998 alongside that work. Order of the Black (2010) and Catacombs of the Black Vatican (2014) both reached the top five on the hard rock album charts.

MUSE To Bring The “Wow! Signal” Album To North America This Summer: “An Era-Spanning, Revolutionary Space-Tacular”
Muse have announced an extensive North American amphitheater tour in support of their forthcoming tenth studio album, The Wow! Signal. Promoted by Live Nation, the run kicks off 07/05 at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater in St. Louis, Missouri, and wraps 08/31 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Various pre-sales begin Tuesday, 03/31, at 12:00 p.m. local time; general on-sale opens Friday, 04/03, at 10:00 a.m. local time at this location.
The tour follows the band’s headlining slot at Milwaukee’s Summerfest on 07/02. From St. Louis, the run moves through cities across the United States — briefly crossing into Canada for dates including the Festival d’été de Québec — before closing out the summer on the West Coast. Bloc Party and Portugal. The Man will provide support on select dates, with The Temper Trap appearing on all shows.
The Wow! Signal was announced last week alongside lead single “Be With You”, backed by an official video directed by Nico Paolillo and starring Ella Balinska. “Be With You” debuted as the No. 1 Most Added at Alternative Radio, entering at No. 29 and trending toward the Top 20, with three million global streams in its first week.
The album’s title draws on one of the more enduring mysteries in the history of radio astronomy: a 72-second burst detected in 1977 originating from the constellation Sagittarius, with a bandwidth and intensity that pointed to a possible extraterrestrial source. The astronomer who identified it circled the signal’s now-famous sequence — “6EQUJ5” — and wrote “WOW!” in the margin of the printout, giving the signal its name.
Before the single, Muse released the With You docuseries on YouTube, gathering fan stories filmed during the Will of the People tour. The band also returned to the road in 2025 for a summer festival run that included stepping in for Kings of Leon at Madrid’s Mad Cool.
VIP packages are available via this location and include premium tickets, access to the pre-show Unravelling VIP Lounge, exclusive merchandise, and early venue entry, among other options depending on the package selected.
