Earlier this year, Big Big Train released their 16th studio album ‘Woodcut’ to critical acclaim. ‘Woodcut’ is the band’s first concept album, a continuous narrative exploring creativity, sacrifice and the thin line between inspiration and madness and featuring a character called The Artist. Tour dates soon followed, and the band has now announced they will be performing the album in its entirety on the forthcoming tour, along with other classics. Big Big Train will also appear on the next Cruise to the Edge, April 2-8, 2027, from Miami.

“We are very pleased to announce that we will be playing our latest studio album Woodcut in full during our tour of the UK and Europe in September and October this year.

When we had finished recording Woodcut, we hoped that we would have the opportunity to play the whole album live. Now that a few months have passed since its release, the hugely positive response to Woodcut from fans and critics alike has convinced us to go ahead and play a Big Big Train album live from start to finish for the first time ever.

We have also commissioned Crystal Spotlight – who were responsible for the wonderful videos which accompanied the three singles from Woodcut (The Artist, The Sharpest Blade and Counting Stars) – to create films for the rest of the album. We expect that to screen these films at all of our UK shows except Birmingham and Glasgow. Over the summer we will announce which of our continental European shows will feature the films.

We will also be performing over an hour of other material on this tour from our back catalogue. We will be playing some of our best known songs as well as two or three lost classics, including material never previously played live.

If playing Woodcut in full is well received, we might just perform another BBT classic album in full on tour in the future…”

The Great American State Fair, a concert series concocted as part of Donald Trump’s Freedom 250 programming celebrating 250 years of the United States, has been an object lesson about American entertainers’ widespread desire to disassociate themselves from Trump. When the lineup first came out, it was amusing to see what amounted to an I Love The ’90s Tour with a few other nostalgia acts sprinkled in, the sorts of past-their-prime performers who tend to play actual state fairs. The implication was that the only people willing to perform at Trump’s soiree were washed-up opportunists desperate for a paycheck. Then even those folks started backing away.
