  • STAIND Replaces Jelly Roll at Rock the Country; Fans Furious as Ticket Prices Slashed 50%

    staind-jelly-roll-rock-the-country-2026

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Rock heavyweights Staind have officially been tapped to headline the Sioux Falls, South Dakota, stop of the Rock the Country festival on June 28. While the addition of the multi-platinum band adds massive firepower to the rock-and-country crossover event, the announcement comes amid a wave of fan “betrayal” as organizers slashed ticket prices by 50%—leaving early-bird buyers who paid full price demanding refunds.

Aaron Lewis Calls in the Full Staind Lineup

Staind frontman Aaron Lewis was already slated for the tour with his solo country band, The Stateliners. However, with superstar Jelly Roll forced to bow out of the Sioux Falls date, Lewis called upon his longtime bandmates in Staind to fill the headlining void.

Sioux Falls is currently the only stop on the seven-city tour that Jelly Roll is scheduled to miss, making the Staind appearance a rare, site-specific pivot for the rock and groove metal crowds attending the festival.

The ‘FUEL’ Promo Code Sparks Fan Backlash

While Staind fans are cheering the lineup upgrade, the festival’s marketing tactics have sparked a firestorm on social media. To combat rising fuel costs and boost sales, the festival launched promo code “FUEL,” dropping single-day GA tickets to $59 and weekend passes to $99.

The move backfired with loyal fans who bought tickets during the “lowest price guaranteed” presale.

    • “I bought 7 tickets for the show in GA… that’s almost a $450 difference in price,” one fan commented.
    • Another added: “I’m so pissed right now… I bought them early because you said that was the lowest price we would get and you lied.”

Lineup Instability Plagues Rock the Country 2026

The Sioux Falls stop is just the latest in a series of major changes for the 2026 tour. Since its announcement, Shinedown, Ludacris, and Morgan Wade have all exited the rotating lineup. The instability previously led to the total cancellation of the Anderson, South Carolina, date.

Despite the back-end drama, the festival continues to feature heavy hitters like Kid Rock, Jason Aldean, and Hank Williams Jr. across its remaining small-town stops.

    TL;DR

Staind is replacing Jelly Roll as the headliner for Rock the Country in Sioux Falls on June 28. The news is overshadowed by massive fan backlash after the festival offered a 50% ticket discount (Code: FUEL), leaving original ticket holders feeling “ripped off” and demanding partial refunds.

  • Video Premiere: State of Illusion – “Death Is Not The End”

State of Illusion are sharing their new video for “Death Is Not The End” ahead of their forthcoming album  Pluto’s Ghost, out independently tomorrow. Check it out below.
“We feel like ‘Death Is Not the End’ is a great song to represent State of Illusion and Pluto’s Ghost because it has all the elements of the rest of the album but dials them all to the max,” the band say. “Its riffs and rhythms are the most complicated and intricate on the album. Its clean sections are very quiet, and its loud sections hit harder than anywhere else. The vocals hit some of the highest notes on the album, while the lyrics are meant to be felt in your core. It fits the vibe of the record perfectly and, after an explosive outro, ends on a quiet, echoing guitar designed to make the listener feel as if they are drifting deeper out into space.
“’Death Is Not the End’ deals with the recurring theme of many other songs on the album: questioning one’s place and whether or not they can continue chasing their dreams. For me, I felt almost totally alone while writing Pluto’s Ghost. I had a terrible case of writer’s block and felt abandoned by something I’d previously felt was a gift in my ability to write songs. It felt like I would never play live shows again as State of Illusion because for two years, I couldn’t find band members, and it also seemed as though I couldn’t continue State of Illusion as a studio project because I’d lost the ability to write songs.
“’Death Is Not the End’ has three meanings: The first is literal, meaning if I fail here on earth and can’t live out my dreams, all is fine because I believe there is life after death. The second is that if this record is the last I make, there’s a life outside of music—so it’s the death of this part of me, but there is another life that I will discover. But as told in the lyrics, I question if I’ll find peace without music being a central part of my life.
“The people we meet at shows or who listen to our music and reach out to us are amazing and let me know that our music matters to them, so the third meaning is the realization that, regardless of how I feel in this moment, I will at least have made an impact on someone. So if this is the last record I make or when I’m gone, the impact of the music I made will live on.”

  • Gozu: Boston Stoner/Fuzz Rock Outfit Debuts “Corinthian Leatherface” Single from “Gozu VI”

    – April 16th, 2026 –

Record To Drop Next Month Through Blacklight Media/Metal Blade Records

Corinthian Leatherface” is the latest single from Boston stoner/fuzz rock outfit GOZU. The track comes off their long-awaited new full-length, Gozu VI, set for release on May 15th through Blacklight Media/Metal Blade Records.

Comments GOZU singer/guitarist Marc Gaffney, “We wanted something that molded our love for Queens, Queen, and Motown harmonies. Lyrically, I needed an outlet and this was an amazing vehicle to add NOS [Nitrous Oxide] to.”

    Stream GOZU‘s “Corinthian LeatherfaceHERE.

Watch GOZU‘s previously released video for “BanacekHERE.

We wanted something that really moved and hit a nerve,” says Gaffney on composing the band’s sixth studio album. “I was pretty roughed up emotionally while writing. I played guitar more in the past two years than ever before. I would work, go to the gym, come home, eat and then play guitar until I went to bed.”

The end result is eight action-packed tracks, produced and mixed by Benny Grotto at Boston’s Mad Oak Studios. Emotion is writ loud and large for the band that’s been praised for their “deep grooves, thick riff mechanics, soulful melodies,” and for creating a “musical stew that intoxicates the listener, sweeping them into another aural universe.”

Gaffney has spoken about the band’s, “maturity mixed with a childlike enthusiasm to play music,” and Gozu VI‘s songs are proof positive. “I think this is more of a soulful, straight forward, guitar-driven album. Lyrically, this took on a whole different feel, and it wrote itself.”

With Gozu VI, the lineup’s melding of intense, fuzzy ’70s-inspired riffs, rich, catchy, grunge-esque vocal melodies, and a touch of oldschool stoner psychedelia has reached a zenith. Categorize them how you will. “We don’t mind if people think we’re stoner, doom, heavy, easy listening with a touch of cayenne pepper. I feel we’re just a heavy soulful band,” Gaffney notes. “We play music that people can shake their ass to and lyrics that are honest and deal with human nature.”

Gozu VI will be released digitally. Find pre-orders at: blacklightmediarecords.com/gozu

In celebration of the release of Gozu VI, GOZU will join New York stoner/doom metallers Restless Spirit for a US co-headlining tour. (written by Islander) This isn’t the first time we’ve premiered music from the Italian death-dealers in Helslave. • Masturbator Wearing Darkthrone Shirt Caught in Austin

We knew many of the newer metal fans were absolute wankers, but an Austin masturbator wearing a Darkthrone shirt has hit the news:

The man entered the store, selected some items, then went to the dressing room. APD says he left the curtain open while he pleasured himself and was indecently exposed.”

The man is described as a white male around 30 years old with a large build. He also has a reddish beard and mustache.

First, does he not know of CCTV everywhere? Second, can he even name a Darkthrone album before Panzerfaust? We should ask him what his Reddit username is.
