The Wildhearts Singer Ginger Diagnosed with Rare Form of Cancer
Not again! News just broke that Ginger, the frontman and only constant member of the British heavy metal band The Wildhearts, has been diagnosed with an aggressive, rare form of cancer called mantle cell lymphoma, or MCL for short.
I’m definitely not a cancer expert but, apparently MCL takes effect in the lymph nodes, and can spread throughout the blood, bone marrow and other bodily tissue. There’s no cure, but treatments have been shown to shrink and help contain the size of the cancer. Hopefully, that’s what’ll happen for Ginger.
The announcement was made earlier today (March 16) on the band’s Facebook:
“IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE WILDHEARTS TEAM. During The Wildhearts’ incredible ‘More Satanic Rites’ UK tour in December 2025, frontman and founding member Ginger Wildheart was experiencing severe pains that some nights forced him to take some short breaks from stage. Determined not to upset the band’s loyal fans — new and old — Ginger took painkillers to ensure the rock ‘n’ roll was delivered, without missing a riff. Away from the tour Ginger has sought medical tests and investigations to establish the cause of the ongoing issue. The results have been confirmed and we are saddened to report that Ginger has been diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL) — a rare but aggressive strain of cancer.
“Right now Ginger is in fine fettle, continuing to write songs that will be released under the guise of The Wildhearts and as solo projects in the future. The follow-up to 2025’s ‘The Satanic Rites…’ is currently being finalised with announcements to follow later this year via Snakefarm/Universal. And, most importantly, ALL currently announced The Wildhearts shows (with more being announced over coming months) WILL GO AHEAD.
“While we process this news and await further medical advice, Ginger wants everyone to know that strength and positivity will prevail and the show WILL go on.
“Make sure you come and see The Wildhearts — sounding bigger and more refreshingly amazing than ever — at a venue near you soon.”
You’re in our thoughts, Ginger. And, as always, FUCK CANCER.

INSIPIDUS Release New Album NEAREST DUSK
Insipidus return with Nearest Dusk, a full-length album that leans into restraint, atmosphere, and emotional weight rather than spectacle. Written over several years and finalized in 2025, the record explores themes of inevitability, internal conflict, and the quiet tension that exists just before collapse. Musically, Nearest Dusk moves between slow-burning passages and dense, deliberate heaviness. […] -
Progressive Rockers ADVENT HORIZON Announce New Album “Falling Together”; Stream First single “Past Life Parable”
US-based progressive rock group Advent Horizon is set to return with a new studio album titled Falling Together. The follow-up to their critically acclaimed album, 2023 release A Cell to Call Home, will be released on May 15th, 2026, and is available for pre-order now.
Falling Together is a record about holding your beliefs under a microscope, and determining whether they are truly yours, or whether they were planted there by others when you were young and impressionable. Vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Rylee McDonald explains, “I’ve spent the past decade re-examining my upbringing and realized many of the ‘truths’ I was taught were carefully shaped beliefs. While rooted in my own experience, it revealed how we still divide ourselves by religion, politics, and class — an enduring ‘us vs. them.’ Falling Together is my attempt to capture those reflections in song.”
To coincide with the announcement, the band is pleased to share the first single from the album, “Past Life Parable,” along with a full band performance video, which you can watch below.
McDonald says about the track: “Stylistically, ‘Past Life Parable’ is a sort of bridge between our older music and the new direction that I’ve been wanting for some time to take this band in. It’s heavy at times, but it’s also a melody-driven rock song with an overall uplifting tone. The harmonized guitar/synth solo at the end is something I’m particularly proud of, and can’t wait to recreate live.”
Work on the new album traces back further than it might appear. Much of the material began taking shape during the sessions for A Cell To Call Home, when early ideas — including the expansive “In a Lone and Dreary World” — proved too large in scope to fit that record. Rather than force it into the previous release, the band set those songs aside and began shaping a follow-up built around the same musical DNA. By the time A Cell To Call Home arrived, roughly a third of the next album already existed, and the following year was spent refining and expanding it into a complete statement. The goal became clear: distill what makes the band distinct into something heavier, tighter, and more representative of their identity.

The writing ultimately unfolded in two distinct periods. Half of the material dates from 2018–2021, while the remainder was composed during the summer of 2024, when Rylee McDonald and drummer Mike Lofgreen spent Mondays working beside a remote mountain lake in northern Utah. The quiet surroundings and isolation shaped the tone of the newer material, with several key tracks emerging directly from those sessions.
Recording followed between January and May 2025 at Cold House Studios in Provo, Utah, co-produced by the band alongside engineer and mixer Zach Boorman. The album was mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Haken, Leprous, BTBAM) and its visual presentation was completed with artwork by Travis Smith (Opeth, Devin Townsend, Lamb of God, Mastadon), helping bring the project’s sound and atmosphere fully into focus.

Eddie feiert 50 Jahre Iron Maiden in Hannover!

Danach folgten unzählige weitere Shows.

Zahlreiche Shows der Jubiläumstour waren früh ausverkauft.

Mike Zito announces “Outside Or The Eastside”
Multiple Blues Music Award winner and Billboard chart-topping blues artist Mike Zito is returning to his roots with the announcement of his new album Outside Or The Eastside. Recorded at Shock City Studios in St. Louis, the project marks Zito’s fourth solo album for Gulf Coast Records and represents another major chapter in his long-running career.
The album carries strong ties to the city where Zito’s musical journey began. Returning to St. Louis for the recording sessions allowed the guitarist and songwriter to reconnect with the places, people, and experiences that shaped his gritty blend of blues rock, soul, and deeply personal storytelling. Thirteen years after the release of Gone To Texas, the new record reflects a full-circle moment for the artist as he revisits the streets and memories that influenced his music while embracing a new chapter in life.
Across the album, Zito explores themes of reflection, resilience, and redemption. The songs offer vivid snapshots of city life and personal reckoning, with narratives that range from late-night regret to the hard truths of addiction and survival. Tracks such as “Downtown At Midnight” confront broken trust and the consequences of addiction, while “Grand Avenue” captures the everyday rhythms of St. Louis, where struggle, humor, music, and perseverance exist side by side.
The album’s title track reflects the energy of the city after dark, exploring the choices people face between temptation and escape. Throughout the record, Zito balances raw honesty with compassion and perspective, delivering songs that combine emotional weight with driving blues rock swagger.
“It was a different recording process on this album,” says Zito. “Normally I’d practise restraint, but when tracking my guitar takes, I found myself thinking no—I can do more!”
At its core, Outside Or The Eastside is a celebration of second chances. The record is dedicated to better days, family, friendship, love, and the joy found in everyday moments. While the album reflects on difficult chapters of the past, it ultimately embraces optimism and connection, showing an artist moving forward with renewed purpose.
Outside Or The Eastside will be released worldwide via Gulf Coast Records in partnership with Proper Music Group, SoNo Recording Group, and Virgin Music Group. The album will be available in multiple formats including a deluxe gatefold CD, an electric blue double-vinyl edition, digital download, and on major streaming platforms.
