Hopeless Nation Returns With “My Curse,” A Relentless Dive Into Addiction and Inner Struggle – @thebeast
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hopeless Nation Returns With “My Curse,” A Relentless Dive Into Addiction and Inner Struggle
Montreal, QC – April 2026 – Quebec hardcore and metal veterans Hopeless Nation are back with their latest single, My Curse , dropping May 15, 2026. Following their 2025 comeback with Silverspoon and 2026’s cinematic Disaster , the track continues the band’s return from nearly a decade-long silence, confronting personal battles with addiction, self-destructive behaviors, and inner conflict.
“My Curse is about the battles people fight in silence. Addiction in all its forms can take control and slowly erase who you are. This song is a confrontation but also a reminder that no one has to face it alone,” says vocalist Frederic Marchand .
From Reunion to Relentless Grind
Hopeless Nation reunited in the summer of 2024 for a high-energy reunion show, revisiting unrecorded material from their 2014 era. That show marked the beginning of a new cycle: grinding back up from the roots while staying true to their hardcore and metal ethos.
Scene Credibility You Can Feel
The band members are stalwarts of the Quebec metal and hardcore scene. Louis-Simon Bellerose fronts punk hardcore legends Genetic Error , while Steve DC and Guy Provencher represented Canada in Europe after winning the Wacken Battle of the Bands with Strigampire in 2024. With over 250 live shows to their name, Hopeless Nation proves their commitment to the scene isn’t just words—it’s blood, sweat, and amps.
Live Performance Rituals
Known for sweat-soaked, no-backing-track performances, Hopeless Nation brings every show to life with intense crowd interaction, relentless headbanging, chair-throwing, and immersive visual projections. Each concert becomes a ritual, leaving audiences drained and exhilarated in equal measure.
Legacy & Homage
The new material honors former members Jonathan Houle (bass & guitar, 2012–2014, 2024) and Maxime Dupont (rhythm guitar, 1998–2014). Their creative contributions shaped the band’s sound, and My Curse serves as both a tribute and continuation of that legacy.
Musically , the track blends groove-driven modern metal with hardcore intensity. Dark, oppressive atmospheres are punctuated with heavy riffs, sharp rhythmic shifts, and sustained tension—sonic reflections of the battles fought within.
The music video takes a stripped-down, practical approach, foregoing AI visuals for projection, minimalistic staging, and stroboscopic lighting. Repeating staircases, infinite loops, and disorienting projections mirror the trap of addiction and the struggle to regain control.
Produced by Jonathan Houle , with mixing and mastering by Francis Perron at Studio RadicArt, My Curse is the next step toward a new EP, pushing deeper into real human conditions with uncompromising clarity and weight.
Track Release Date: May 15, 2026 (TBC)

Label: Independent
Management: Frédéric Marchand
Band Lineup:
Frederic Marchand – Vocals
Louis-Simon Bellerose – Lead Guitar

Arlo Parks Covers PinkPantheress’ “Stateside” In The Live Lounge
PinkPantheress’ Fancy That highlight “Stateside” has been getting a ton of play over the past few weeks since gold medalist figure skater Alysa Liu picked the Zara Larsson remix for her program at the Olympic Exhibition Gala back in February. Pink’s fellow Brit Arlo Parks recently stopped by the BBC Radio 1 live lounge, where she performed her own dreamy rendition of “Stateside” with a trio of synths, a guitar, and bass. The song simply must be sung with a British accent! Parks also performed “2SIDED,” the lead single to her newly-released album Ambiguous Desire. Listen to both songs below.

SARDONIC WITCHERY TO UNLEASH NEW VIDEO “MERCILESS WARRIOR OF STEEL” THIS SUNDAY
Texas black metal warlords SARDONIC WITCHERY continue their occult onslaught with the premiere of their latest video, “Merciless Warrior Of Steel,” dropping this Sunday, April 12th on the Metal Devastation PR YouTube channel .
The track comes from the band’s 2026 compilation album, Under The Sign Of The Trident , which has already earned high praise from OccultBlackMetal for its “fast and raw” black metal, ritualistic intensity, and old school extreme metal influences. The compilation gathers re-recorded classics from Kult Of The Underground Warrior , King Of The Midnight Legions , Moonlight Sacrifice Ritual , and Barbaric Evil Power , along with the infamous “Black Fucking Metal” from their 2016 EP.
The video for “Merciless Warrior Of Steel” captures the band’s signature blackened fury and ritualistic atmosphere, offering both longtime devotees and newcomers a glimpse into the dark heart of SARDONIC WITCHERY’s Satanic vision. Fans can expect high-octane riffs, relentless blast beats, and visuals steeped in occult mystique.
King Demogorgon and G. Lucis Ruina, joined by session members James Siegrist and Daniel Salamanca, are set to bring this ritualistic force to stages across the UK, Mexico, and 12 U.S. states—including Maryland Deathfest —on the Under The Sign Of The Trident Tour 2026 .

Haze Mage Unleashes Final Album High Fantasy Alongside Last-Ever Live Show – @thebeast
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Haze Mage Unleashes Final Album High Fantasy Alongside Last-Ever Live Show
Baltimore, MD – Haze Mage, the Baltimore-based purveyors of sword-and-sorcery doom metal, are set to release their highly anticipated full-length album High Fantasy on April 18, 2026. Coinciding with the album drop, the band will perform their final live show at The Ottobar during their signature Grim Reefer Fest, bringing six years of riff-driven fantasy metal to a triumphant close.
Since forming in late 2015, Haze Mage has forged a distinctive sound steeped in doom, stoner, and hard rock influences, drawing inspiration from legends such as Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden. Their music conjures vast dark forests, savage beasts, and haunting mystical realms, earning them a dedicated following in the Baltimore metal scene.
Haze Mage’s debut EP, Blood Mist (2017, Grimoire Records), was praised by outlets like The Obelisk , Worldwide Underground , and Heavy Planet for its atmospheric, psychedelic, and unforgettable sound. Over the years, the band has delivered commanding live performances at Artscape, Days of Darkness Festival (Maryland Death Fest), Shadow Woods Metal Fest, and Light City, while maintaining a strong presence at local venues including Metro Gallery, The Ottobar, Nevermore Hall, and Soundstage.
High Fantasy is an epic 9-track journey that represents the culmination of Haze Mage’s saga. As the band explains, “This album is the culmination of six years of songwriting through an ever-changing world of soaring victories, eternal struggles, and finding support in those around you when you need it most. It’s also about mysteriously magical weed shops and vampiric brains flying out of bodies and terrorizing villages at night.”
Recorded between January and March 2026 at Tiny Castle with producer, mixer, and mastering engineer Noel Mueller, and featuring artwork by John DeCampos/Ghost Bat Illustration, High Fantasy delivers the full Haze Mage experience in both sound and story.
The band lineup for this final chapter includes Kevin Considine (Guitar), Nick Jewett (Guitar), John De Campos (Drums), Scott Brenner (Bass), and Matthew Casella (Vocals). While Haze Mage will be taking an indefinite hiatus after April 18, they plan to continue Grim Reefer Fest, supporting the underground metal community they helped cultivate.
High Fantasy is available for pre-order now on Bandcamp: https://hazemage.bandcamp.com/album/high-fantasy, with the full release arriving April 18th, 2026, alongside their final live performance.
