  • Downtown Boys Announce New Album Public Luxury: Hear “No Me Jodas”

Did you know Downtown Boys were still going? They absolutely are. In the ’10s, the Providence band came out with a hectic, impassioned, confrontation take on political punk rock. It’s been nearly a decade since their last album, 2017’s excellent Cost Of Living. Last year, I saw the band’s name in a local club’s calendar…

  • Bob Dylan Kicks Off 2026 Tour With New Cover, Oh Mercy Rarity

The latest chapter of Bob Dylan’s open-ended Rough And Rowdy Ways Tour, an outing theoretically in support of an album that came out way back in 2020, kicked off Saturday in Omaha. At the Orpheum Theater, Dylan played keyboard rather than his usual piano, and in another surprise his guitarists Bob Britt and Doug Lancio played entirely acoustic — the first time on the Rough And Rowdy Ways Tour, according to the Flagging Down newsletter. Per Matt Simonsen’s report there, it sounds like there were issues with microphone placement:

  • MR. CRABMAN AND THE SEAWEEDS: “NOTHING IN RETURN”

(DGR has made a fortunate new discovery, one outside his usual musical wheelhouses, and seeks to spread the word about it in the following review.) Every year brings a cycle in which I swear up and down to try and expand my musical horizons, which for the most part I absolutely fail at. The early […]

  • Joyce Manor Revive “Angel In The Snow” With Nate Ruess In Boston, Barry Johnson Plays Acoustic Set In The Park

As part of their ongoing tour, Nate Ruess’ recently-reunited the Format have been hosting little pop-up shindigs called Saturdays In The Park, where they spend Saturdays in a nearby park doing free acoustic performances and spotlighting local organizations doing good work. Sometimes those performances include special guests, and this past Saturday in Boston Common, that special guest was Joyce Manor frontman Barry Johnson.

  • Zebrahead Release Frantic New Track ‘BURN BURN BURN’

Zebrahead have offered up the first taste of the final piece of their recent series of EPs, and it finds them in suitably energetic form.

Titled ‘BURN BURN BURN’, it’s a track that embodies all of the chaos and catchiness that has propelled the band forward through all of the years. From the rollicking beat to the final sensational melody, it’s a screeching weasel of a ride, full of banshee wails, lightning-fast solos and endless cheekiness.

It feels as fresh as it feels like home. More than anything, it sounds like nobody but Zebrahead.

Vocalist Ali Tabatabaee had this to say about the release, stating, “‘Burn, Burn, Burn’ is straight energy from the jump“It’s aggressive but still super melodic, and it’s got this bounce to it that just makes you want to move.”

Drummer Ed Udhus add, “‘Burn Burn Burn’ is our version of Slayer and Taylor Swift doing Redbull vodka shots at the pool on Spring Break till 6AM.”

Whilst guitarist Dan Palmer concludes, “‘Burn, Burn, Burn’ is a slammer of a song that kicks off the release of a new batch of songs! It’s heavy, melodic, and it has one of the shreddiest solos I’ve ever done! I’m really proud of this one, and it’ll get the headbangers banging away!”

It’s taken from the newly announced EP ‘O’, which completes the band’s series of four, following up 2021’s ‘III’, 2023’s ‘II’ and 2024’s ‘I’.
