  • Ozzfest 2027 Just Got Its First Cities — Sharon Osbourne Reveals Where The Metal Festival Returns

    ozzfest-2027

Where Will The First Ozzfest Shows Take Place?

Sharon Osbourne confirmed the first Ozzfest comeback shows will begin with two days at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, followed by additional events somewhere in North America.

    TL;DR

    • Sharon Osbourne revealed the first confirmed locations for Ozzfest’s return.
    • The festival will launch with two days at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK.
    • After that, North American shows will follow.
    • Sharon says future touring editions could return as early as 2028 if demand is strong.
    • The revived Ozzfest will emphasize young metal bands alongside established headliners.

Sharon Osbourne Confirms The First Ozzfest Comeback Locations

For months, fans knew Ozzfest was returning. Now we finally know where it begins.

During a recent episode of “The Osbournes” podcast, Sharon Osbourne revealed the opening location for the long-anticipated comeback of the iconic metal festival.

The launch will take place in Birmingham, England, at Villa Park, the home stadium of Aston Villa Football Club.

The event will run for two days.

Then the festival will cross the Atlantic.

“We wanna do two days in Aston Villa and then come to America,” Sharon explained during the podcast.

She added that the team wants input from fans about where the festival should land in North America.

“We wanna hear from everyone where we should go in America.”

Browse upcoming heavy metal concerts and ticket availability here

Why Birmingham Makes Perfect Sense For Ozzfest

Launching Ozzfest in Birmingham is more than just a venue decision.

The city is widely regarded as the birthplace of heavy metal, thanks to the rise of Black Sabbath in the late 1960s.

Ozzy Osbourne himself grew up in Birmingham, making the location deeply symbolic for the festival’s return.

If the comeback begins there, it effectively brings the festival back to metal’s spiritual home.

North America Is Next — But The Exact Cities Are Still Unknown

While Birmingham is locked in, Sharon said the North American dates are still being determined.

The plan is to stage two additional festival days somewhere in North America after the UK launch.

Where those shows will take place has not been finalized.

But Sharon made it clear that fan demand could influence the decision.

The Bigger Vision: Ozzfest Touring Again

The 2027 events may only be the beginning.

According to Sharon, if the relaunch performs well, the festival could expand again in 2028 and beyond.

Unlike the early years of the festival — when it traveled across dozens of cities — the initial return will focus on a small number of large destination events.

If demand proves strong, a broader touring model could follow.

Sharon Wants The Festival To Discover New Metal Bands Again

One of the defining elements of the original event was its ability to launch new artists.

Sharon made it clear that philosophy will remain central to the festival’s revival.

“We’ve gotta find a lot of young, new talent,” she said.

That approach reflects Ozzy Osbourne’s original vision for the festival: giving emerging metal bands the chance to play in front of massive crowds.

    Could Judas Priest Appear ?

While no lineup has been announced, Sharon did drop one intriguing hint.

She said she would love to see Rob Halford appear — which naturally raises the possibility of Judas Priest performing.

Considering the band’s deep influence on heavy metal history, their presence would be a fitting addition to the festival’s comeback.

Why Ozzfest Still Matters To Metal

When Ozzfest launched in the mid-1990s, it fundamentally changed the heavy music touring world.

It became the first national festival dedicated entirely to hard rock and heavy metal.

Over the years, the event helped break dozens of bands and introduced massive audiences to artists who would go on to define the genre.

Even today, many modern rock festivals follow the blueprint Ozzfest created.

The Big Question Metal Fans Are Asking

With the first cities finally revealed, anticipation for Ozzfest’s return is now ramping up again.

And the real question is no longer if the festival is coming back.

    It’s this:

Who will actually play the first Ozzfest in nearly a decade?

    FAQ

    When will Ozzfest return?

Sharon Osbourne has confirmed the festival will return in 2027.

Where will the first Ozzfest shows happen?

The comeback will begin with two days at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, followed by shows in North America.

Will Ozzfest tour again like it used to?

Possibly. Sharon said a traveling festival could return in 2028 or later, depending on demand.

When was the last Ozzfest event?

The most recent event was a New Year’s Eve edition in 2018 at The Forum in Los Angeles.

    Ozzfest Festival Bio

Launched in 1996 by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Ozzfest became the first major touring festival dedicated to heavy metal and hard rock. The event helped launch and elevate numerous bands across the genre while creating one of the most recognizable brands in metal culture. Over the years, Ozzfest hosted legendary performances from some of the biggest names in heavy music and remains one of the most influential festivals in metal history.

Legendary UK black metal pioneers Venom have announced their sixteenth studio album, Into Oblivion , scheduled for release on May 1, 2026 via Noise Records / BMG . The album’s lead single, Lay Down Your Soul , is available now for streaming and video, and preorders are live here: https://venomslegions.lnk.to/intooblivionPR.
Formed in Newcastle in 1979, Venom are widely credited as the originators of black metal, influencing generations of extreme metal acts worldwide. With a career spanning over four decades, the band continues to push boundaries while remaining true to their chaotic, dark, and heavy roots.
Into Oblivion is the first Venom album since 2018’s Storm the Gates and features the long-standing lineup of Cronos (bass/vocals), Rage (guitar) and Dante (drums). This lineup, together for 17 years, is the longest-running in the band’s history.
Commenting on the album, Cronos said:

“This album has really pushed the boundaries, but if you want to make a killer album, you pay for it in blood, sweat and tears.”

    Rage added:

“I’m so proud of this album. It feels so different, yet so familiar. The sonics are a step up. No song sounds the same, but they all work together.”

The album features 13 tracks combining classic Venom aggression with modern production and progressive touches, staying heavy, evil, and irresistibly catchy. The lead single, Lay Down Your Soul , recalls the band’s early sound and the spirit of the iconic track Black Metal , complete with a rousing sing-along chorus ready for live stages. Cronos explains:

“It’s healthy to recognize things from back in the day and bring them into a new setting that gives it a whole fresh approach. The fans are going to go mental for it!”

Into Oblivion will be available in multiple formats:
    Double gatefold smoke vinyl
Double gatefold clear, black & red splatter vinyl (Limited Edition)
    CD digisleeve with 16-page booklet
    Digital
Preorders of both vinyl and CD from the Noise Records store include a limited photo card signed by Cronos, Rage, and Dante, while supplies last.
With Into Oblivion , Venom not only revisit their legendary past but also reaffirm their place as one of extreme metal’s most enduring and influential forces.

  • EP Review: Serpent Icon – Tombstone Stories

EP Review: Serpent Icon – Tombstone Stories

    Reviewed by Dan Barnes

I’m going to show my age now and make the bold statement that melodic death metal reached its pinnacle when At the Gates released the imperious Slaughter of the Soul in 1995. I’m not saying everything that followed is inferior, just that it’s hard to improve on perfection, though many of tried.

Three other people who would be in agreement are the German trio, Serpent Icon, who issue their debut EP, Tombstone Stories as a kind of love-letter to the early Gothenburg sound, without trying to reinvent this particular wheel.

Formed in 2023, by previous members of Living Abyss, Gloryful and Night In Gales, the three have worked tirelessly to create a record that pays tribute to the whole of the genre in just five tracks. Here you’ll find nothing but the pure essence of the Gothenburg sound, free of clean vocals, breakdowns or modern synths, and just focused on raw power.

In opener, Circus of Mankind, you’ll recognise that Serpent Icon is the real deal when it comes to highlighting their influences. The driving rhythms from Hartmut Stoof’s relentless drumming and Tobias Dahs’ searing guitars, combined with gritty riffs, take you back to hearing In Flames and At the Gates for the first time.

EP Review: Serpent Icon - Tombstone Stories

The title-track blends thundering drums with soaring guitars, bringing an earworm of a riff to the pre-chorus, giving a little respite to the blistering speed without losing sight of the melodic aspects. Feels like this tune alone will win over most genre fans.

Both Ashes and Final Witness are built around sweeping, anthemic riffs, supplemented by powerful drumming and with vocalist, Christian, growling raw and guttural snarls, there is no mistaking the influence. Ashes gives a moment to a more ambient sound into the final third, with Tobias’ bass thundering it into the conclusion. Final Witness goes for a more grimy, dirtier sound, achieving a punchy result.

Closer, Sirens and Sinners, is pure At the Gates, with flailing, whiplashing riffs, rumbling drums and a face-melting solo; I’d like to think that late-great Tomas Lindberg would be proud of what he was so instrumental in creating.

All the melodic death metal tropes are here: harmonised guitars, blasting double-bass drums and low-pitched growling vocals. None of it feels forced and you can hear the passion from all three members of Serpent Icon in every note of the twenty-minute run-time.

It bodes well for a full-length some time in the future but, for now, there’re new kids in Melodic Death Metal Town, and may I suggest you take note.
