PVRIS and The 1975 members announce epic charity bike ride for Nordoff & Robbins
Members of PVRIS and The 1975 have announced an epic charity bike ride for Nordoff & Robbins.
Brian MacDonald and Ross MacDonald – along with their pals Darren and Matt – will hit the road for a whopping 1,100 miles from Land’s End to John O’ Groats, in order to help support the UK music therapy charity in training new music therapists.
“I believe that music therapy really changes people’s lives,” says Ross. “I’ve seen first-hand what Nordoff & Robbins do, using music as therapy. It breaks down barriers and it transcends language. And it’s something that everyone can connect with in their own way. My life is taken up massively by touring and being in a studio, and this challenge is pretty much the most opposite thing I could think of doing. I get to do this amazing ride with three of my closest friends. It’s going to be beautiful and horrendous, but will ultimately end with us achieving this incredible personal goal and hopefully raising loads of money for Nordoff & Robbins.”
“The motivation to fundraise for Nordoff & Robbins came from a WhatsApp from Ross,” adds Brian. “I was on tour and he messaged me saying, ‘Do you want to do a big cycle ride? I know you cycle.’ I’m like, ‘Barely, but yeah!’ He explained about Nordoff & Robbins and then I did my own research, and I just fell right into it and saw how amazing the music therapy work they do is. I’m grateful to be playing a small part in fundraising for this great cause. I’m going to be doing it for the people that will benefit so much from what we can get in terms of donations. That’s going to fuel me more than all the electrolytes, gels and carbs combined.”

Bedroom Studio Upgrade – 7 Hardware Changes And Inspiring Details That Lift The Whole Room
Upgrading a bedroom studio combines function and style in a way that transforms even a compact space into one that feels intentional, organized, and visually refined.
Thoughtful hardware choices and a well-considered layout allow a small room to support sleep, work, and relaxation without feeling crowded.
Small bedrooms often feel cozy when every element has a purpose.
Careful planning allows lighting, storage, and furniture placement to work together rather than compete for attention.
A smart floor plan encourages multiple uses in one open area, making it possible to live comfortably in a studio setting that combines rest, productivity, and leisure.
With that in mind, let us talk about the upgrades that can do wonderful things for your bedroom studio.
Upgrade #1 – Statement Lighting Fixtures

Layered lighting helps a bedroom studio shift easily between work and rest throughout the day Layered lighting adds depth and comfort to a bedroom studio.
Combining overhead fixtures with task lamps and accent lighting makes it possible to shape the mood of each zone with precision.
A central ceiling fixture provides general illumination that anchors the entire room, while desk lamps support productivity and bedside sconces introduce a calm tone suited for winding down.
Effective layering often includes three distinct lighting types:
- Ambient lighting that fills the room evenly
- Task lighting focused on desks, vanities, or reading areas
- Accent lighting that draws attention to artwork, shelving, or architectural details
Wall-mounted sconces and pendant lights free up nightstands and floor space, which is critical in compact layouts.
Suspended fixtures also draw the eye upward, helping the room feel taller and more open.
Placement matters just as much as style. Positioning pendants over bedside tables or in a reading corner clearly signals purpose within an open studio plan.
Dimmers allow lighting to shift smoothly between work mode and rest mode.
Brighter settings encourage concentration during the day, while softer illumination supports relaxation in the evening. Smart bulbs or layered switching systems can further refine control, allowing separate adjustment of ceiling lights, sconces, and accent strips.
Thoughtful lighting placement reinforces layout decisions and enhances daily comfort.
Upgrade #2 – Bedroom Wall Art

Well-placed wall art adds personality and defines zones without using valuable floor space Large-scale bedroom decor artwork or a curated gallery wall creates a strong focal point in a compact bedroom studio.
Art introduces personality and visual depth without occupying valuable floor space.
Oversized pieces can make a small room feel more intentional and complete, especially when centered above a bed or sofa.
Selection and placement should follow a few practical principles:
- Hang artwork at eye level to maintain balance
- Choose pieces proportional to the furniture beneath them
- Leave consistent spacing between frames in a gallery arrangement
Mirrors carry both decorative and functional value. Placing a mirror opposite a window increases natural light distribution and visually expands the room.
Full-length mirrors mounted on closet doors combine practicality with space enhancement.
Wall art can also define zones within an open layout.
Artwork above a desk distinguishes the work area, while pieces above the bed frame reinforce the sleeping zone.
Coordinating frame finishes with lighting fixtures and cabinet hardware strengthens visual cohesion and prevents the room from feeling fragmented.
Upgrade #3 – Modern Cabinet and Drawer Hardware

Small hardware upgrades often create a noticeable improvement in both function and visual order Replacing cabinet knobs, drawer pulls, and hinges offers one of the fastest visual upgrades in a bedroom studio.
Updated hardware can transform wardrobes, dressers, and storage units without replacing the furniture itself. Small metal details often determine how polished a room feels.
Finish selection influences the overall atmosphere. Matching hardware across wardrobes, bedside tables, and desks ties separate pieces together visually.
Consistency creates order, especially in studios where everything is visible at once.
Soft-close hinges and quality drawer slides improve everyday function. Smooth operation reduces noise and prevents wear over time.
Upgraded internal hardware, such as full-extension drawer slides, increases accessibility, making storage more efficient. Attention to these details elevates both appearance and performance.
Upgrade #4 – Smart Storage Hardware

Flexible storage hardware makes compact bedroom studios easier to organize and maintain Maximizing storage is essential in a small bedroom studio.
Built-in joinery tailored to exact dimensions uses every available inch efficiently.
Sliding mirrored wardrobes increase storage capacity while bouncing light around the room, making the space feel more open.
Effective storage hardware often includes adaptable components:
- Adjustable closet rods that shift as clothing needs change
- Pull-out baskets for easy access to smaller items
- Modular shelving systems that expand vertically
Floating shelves and wall hooks keep essentials within reach without taking up floor space. Vertical storage draws the eye upward and frees valuable square footage for movement and furniture placement.
Awkward corners and narrow gaps can accommodate custom shelving or slim cabinets designed for tight spaces.
Corner units with rotating mechanisms or angled shelves make use of areas that often go unused.
Flexible hardware ensures the room remains practical as storage demands shift over time.
Upgrade #5 – Statement Headboard and Bed Details
A bed is typically the largest piece of furniture in a bedroom studio, so upgrading its details significantly influences the room’s character.
A textured or upholstered headboard anchors the sleeping area and softens surrounding surfaces such as walls and flooring.
Headboards with integrated lighting or built-in shelving reduce the need for additional bedside furniture.
Integrated reading lights free up surface space, while slim shelves hold books, phones, or decorative items without cluttering the room.
Ottomans or lift-up storage beds convert under-bed areas into practical storage zones. Hydraulic lift mechanisms allow easy access to hidden compartments.
Drawers built into bed bases provide organized storage for linens, seasonal clothing, or accessories.
Thoughtful bed hardware increases both comfort and efficiency in daily living.
Upgrade #6 – Door and Closet Hardware Refresh
Updating door handles and wardrobe pulls creates a unified look that elevates even simple cabinetry.
Consistency in finish and style ensures that doors and closets align with lighting fixtures and other hardware elements.
Subtle changes in handle shape or finish can significantly influence the overall aesthetic.
Sliding closet doors or barn-style hardware conserve floor space and introduce architectural character. Sliding systems remove the need for door swing clearance, which is especially valuable in compact layouts.
Replacing standard hinges with concealed or soft-close versions improves both appearance and function.
Hardware that operates quietly and smoothly contributes to a more refined daily experience.
Upgrade #7 – Window Hardware and Soft Furnishings
Layered window treatments balance natural light, privacy, and design detail. Pairing blinds with curtains allows precise control throughout the day.
Sheer panels can diffuse daylight, while blackout curtains support restful sleep.
Mounting curtain rods higher and closer to the ceiling creates the illusion of added height.
Extending rods wider than the window frame allows curtains to stack neatly at the sides, exposing more glass and maximizing incoming light.
Hardware selection influences overall cohesion. Curtain rods, brackets, and finials should coordinate with lighting fixtures and cabinet finishes to maintain visual consistency.
Maximizing natural light supports a brighter atmosphere, and brighter interiors tend to feel larger and more welcoming.
Thoughtful window hardware ensures that function and style work together seamlessly.
Summary
Thoughtfully selected hardware, including handles, lighting, wall art, and curtain rods, can transform a bedroom studio into a cohesive, tailored space for daily life.
Smart storage solutions and multifunctional layout principles ensure that every square foot works efficiently.
Starting with a single impactful upgrade builds momentum.
Gradual improvements across lighting, storage, doors, and windows result in a complete room transformation that enhances comfort, usability, and style.

Complete List Of Rob Zombie Songs From A to Z

After graduating from Haverhill High School in 1983, he moved to New York City, attended Parsons School of Design, and met future bandmate Sean Yseult, a relationship that became foundational to his first major chapter in music.
