Rare Found Footage Reveals Wayne Static Recording “Down” With Raw Isolated Vocals
Fans of industrial metal and Static-X are in for a once-in-a-lifetime glimpse into the genius of the late Wayne Static. Newly unearthed footage shows the frontman delivering the track “Down” in the studio, captured in its purest form: completely isolated vocals, unfiltered, and performed in a single, flawless take.
Shot during the original sessions for Static-X’s breakout debut Wisconsin Death Trip , the video presents Wayne Static standing alone in the vocal booth, giving a performance with no effects, no amplification, and no backing tracks. Every note, every growl, every scream is raw and untouched — a rare window into the recording process that shaped one of industrial metal’s defining albums.
The footage was discovered by director Matt Zane while sifting through archival material for his controversial documentary on Wayne Static and Tera Wray. The project has drawn legal pushback from the estates and band members, including cease-and-desist orders, but Zane continues to uncover unseen recordings and behind-the-scenes moments from Static’s career.
“This is really something to see and hear,” Zane commented. “Zero effects, not even any amplification — just Wayne singing raw right in front of you, hitting all the highs and lows. One take, all the way through. No auto-tune, no music to hide anything. It really shows how unique, special, and powerful he was as a vocalist.”
The footage provides an intimate, never-before-seen look at the making of Wisconsin Death Trip , highlighting Wayne Static’s extraordinary talent and stage presence even in the quiet confines of a studio booth.

Forged in 1988, Age of Fire carved out their own path in heavy metal with a sound rooted in intensity, atmosphere, and storytelling. This past Christmas, my best Metal buddy in the Metal Universe, aka Scott Coverdale, gifted me this IRON MAIDEN The Trooper Funko Pop! This is part of the Funko Pop! Albums series. Classic Eddie! I’m very delighted to own this beauty!

The Trooper has been released in the past as both a 12” and 7” vinyl, represented as the cover artwork you see here behind the Eddie Funko. I first owned The Trooper 12” vinyl many solar eclipses ago. Circa 1983 to be exact.

The captivating artwork for The Trooper, featuring Eddie, was created by the legendary Derek Riggs.

Earlier this month, ’68 announced that they were hanging it all up and going on a final farewell tour. The announcement bummed out plenty of folks that didn’t want to see the band go anywhere, but they at least have one thing to get excited about — new music. Today, the band revealed that they’ll be releasing one last album, titled They Are Survived, on May 28. Not only that, but they released its first single “ALWAYS LOVE”.

The noise rock duo’s album will be released while the band is out on their final run of shows. That tour will begin on May 13 in Orlando, Florida, with the band’s “very last show” taking place in Atlanta on June 20. They’ll make sure to hit a number of key cities along the way, including Baltimore, Philly, Toronto, Detroit, and Chicago.

You can check out ’68’s new single “ALWAYS LOVE” below. The full list of tour dates for their final run of shows are listed below the video, so you can see which venue near you they’ll be hitting. Just remember to get your own tickets ASAP.

Colorado’s rising metal storm Hel Hath Fury has officially arrived with their debut single, Halt Ragnarok , available now on all major streaming platforms.
Originally written in 2023, Halt Ragnarok represents the band’s first true step in forging their signature sound. What began as raw basement recording experiments has evolved into a full-scale professional production at Hahn Studios, capturing the power and precision of the complete Hel Hath Fury lineup.
“Halt Ragnarok was our first song, and we spent countless hours learning how to record, mix, and master it ourselves,” says the band. “Getting the chance to record it professionally was surreal and really brought our vision to life.”
