An Abbath festival performance was abandoned after just two minutes on Friday when the band’s frontman left the stage in anger.
The Norwegian black metal band fronted by former Immortal man Abbath Doom Occulta – also known simply as Abbath – were performing at SaariHelvetti Festival in Tampere, Finland.
But things did not go to plan. According to Inferno Magazine, the vocalist and guitarist appeared onstage without his signature corpse paint or costume, although his bandmates were dressed in their usual stage attire.
The band played their track To War before Abbath Doom Occulta’s meltdown.
Drummer Ukri Suvilehto apologised to the audience after Abbath’s departure, saying: “Let’s just say that it probably won’t come as a surprise to anyone that our lead singer is struggling with health problems, so we’re very sorry if this gig has been interrupted.
“But we, as solid professionals, are prepared for anything, so we’ll see. But thank you and sorry. We have done everything we can.”

It’s not the first time the band have suffered an onstage disaster. In 2019 they ended a show in Argentina after just two songs before cancelling the remainder of a South American tour.
That too was said to be down to “health issues” which were later revealed to be linked to frontman Abbath’s battle with addiction.
Later that year, he entered rehab. He said: “It’s no secret that I’ve been battling addiction. I have now come to realise that it’s time to pick a fight with this demon.
“I’ve committed myself to a rehab program that’s going to help me get clean once and for all. I feel more motivated and determined than ever to win this battle.”
Early in 2020, he reported he had been sober for two months and was “in good shape.”
His bandmates went on to cite health problems.

Oddysseys’ “However You Want It” begins with a premise familiar to anyone who has tried to make art while being observed: the work may be private, but advice is communal property. The band, born in Boston and now based in Chicago, has spent years bypassing the usual intermediaries, moving between festival stages and improvised punk spaces with the stubborn economy of a group accustomed to doing things itself. On this sixteen-song album, that ethic becomes both subject and method.
Across However You Want It, influences are easy to identify: Interpol, Bauhaus, early New Order, the Stone Roses, but Treon treats them as working materials. The album’s independence gives it coherence: sixteen songs made under one roof, answerable to one restless sensibility, testing how far private conviction can travel. Treon wrote, performed, engineered, mixed, and financed the record in a small Chicago apartment, where practical limits seem to have sharpened rather than diminished his ambitions.
“The entire process was about taking something that existed only as an idea and slowly bringing it into the material world,” he says. “One track at a time.” That description is almost comically modest for music this restless. However You Want It keeps changing its posture, moving from tense guitar music toward industrial club pressure, then back into songs where melody carries the emotional argument.
Shadow of a Sound is especially good at making instability feel physical. A bass line establishes the song’s post-punk skeleton while guitars borrow some of the looseness and abrasion of the Pixies and the cool spaciousness associated with Manchester. Treon’s lyrics, informed in part by Pindar’s Olympian Odes, turn psychological collapse into a problem of scale: shame, mortality, and self-judgment expand until the individual seems badly fitted to his own life. The song’s stream of consciousness suits that unease; thoughts pile up faster than certainty can organize them.
Cerbie, recorded before the album sessions, pushes in another direction. Paul DiRico plays bass and drums and adds backing vocals, while John Barrett’s Abbey Road mix gives the track unusual breadth. Industrial percussion and techno propulsion meet a chorus built for collective release, even as the lyric stares directly at death. Its gallows humor is crucial: mortality can inspire dread, but also impatience…if the ending is guaranteed, paralysis begins to look like a poor use of the interval.
Heaven Signs Clearly turns devotion into private theology. Jagged guitars and a driving rhythm frame images of blood, prayer, pain, and dependence, with the call-and-response vocal creating the sense of a congregation assembled around one person’s bad decision. Love here is voluntary suffering undertaken with full awareness, which gives the song its peculiar sting.

Georgia-based gothic alternative metal band The End of Melancholy has officially released a new single and accompanying music video titled “Halo.” The track is currently available across all major digital streaming platforms and serves as an important milestone for the independent group as they actively prepare for the arrival of their next full-length studio album.
Produced by Andrew Petroff, who handled all instrumentation, mixing, and mastering, the new track is driven by the haunting vocal delivery and lyrical work of frontwoman Olly Lex. Acclaimed pop rock songstress LØLØ has released a brand new single and accompanying music video titled “pretty little wreck.” The upbeat, early 2000s inspired track is currently available across all major digital streaming platforms via Fearless Records.
Thematically, the new song embraces emotional honesty and the chaotic nature of life. The artist explains that the track was written after she decided to stop apologizing for her messiest traits and instead lean into the chaos of not having everything figured out. Musically, “pretty little wreck” combines lively guitar riffs with her signature infectious pop rock energy. The release directly follows the momentum of her highly praised sophomore album, god forbid a girl spits out her feelings!, which arrived earlier this spring and spawned the standout single “the punisher.”

Folk metal duo Forgotten Shrine has released a new single titled “The Parting Glass (Reforged)” featuring guest flutist Ember Belladonna. The track serves as the latest preview for the group’s upcoming full length album, Nox Aeterna, which is officially scheduled for an independent release later this autumn on November 6.
The new release serves as a reimagined take on the traditional Scottish song. Originally released by the band two years prior, this newly updated version introduces a fresh instrumental arrangement alongside additional vocal performances provided by Josh Alexander. The collaboration with Ember Belladonna adds dynamic musical depth, carefully balancing the emotional weight of the original composition with the darker atmospheric elements that define the sonic character of the upcoming album.
Vocalist Sofia Frasz explained that the timing of the release felt highly appropriate following the recent launch of the video game soundtrack Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced earlier this August. Behind the scenes, the Nox Aeterna record was produced, mixed, and mastered by Joshua Dalviken. The cover art for the new single was created collaboratively by Josh Alexander and Tricia Alexander as the band continues to build momentum toward their November album launch.
