  • Steve Hackett and Steve Rothery Interview – The Roaring Waves

Two titans of progressive music, Steve Hackett (Genesis) and Steve Rothery (Marillion), come together on ‘The Roaring Waves’ – a striking and deeply atmospheric instrumental album shaped by memory, imagination, and the elemental power of the sea. The record has been much talked about over the years, and it will now finally see the day on August 28th, 2026 via InsideOutMusic.

On this new podcast, the two guitar legends join the podcast to talk about their new album ‘The Roaring Waves,’ and each shares their 5 favorite instrumental tracks.

Written and recorded intermittently over nearly a decade – with sessions at Racket Club and the duo’s home studios – the album emerged from an organic, improvisational process. Jams and shared ideas form the backbone of the music, allowing both players to explore a collaborative dynamic defined by sensitivity and mutual respect.

Throughout ‘The Roaring Waves’, the duo embrace a painterly, almost filmic approach to composition – crafting music that invites listeners to drift, imagine, and immerse themselves. “You’re trying to create an atmosphere… like painting a picture,” says Rothery. “Taking people on a journey.”

The album is also available to pre-order on several formats, including a Ltd CD+Blu-ray mediabook edition including Dolby Atmos (by Andy Bradfield) & High Resolution Stereo mixes. The album will also be available as a Standard CD & a Gatefold 180g LP, cut at half-speed at Abbey Road Studios by Miles Showell. All feature artwork and layouts by Simon Ward. • Green Lung Share Timeless New Track ‘Black Magick Radio’

Green Lung have shared a track set to appear on their upcoming new album ‘Necropolitan’, and it is pulled straight outta the heart of the Satanic Panic.

Titled ‘Black Magick Radio’, it is a song that bristles with all of the rock and roll devilment and wonderfully catchy heart and soul that made metal such a phenomenon 50 years ago and still lingers heavy today. The band embody the atmosphere of the time perfectly, as they do with everything that they release, but there is so much fun being had in zooming in on this particular part of history.

Occult, audacious and overtly heavy, it’s an absolutely timeless banger.

The band had this to say about the song:

‘’Black Magick Radio’ is our love letter to occult rock itself, and a promise to spread its gospel as widely as we possibly can. All together now… Eko Eko Azarak, Eko Eko Zomelak…”

The tune is taken from the band’s upcoming new album ‘Necropolitan’, maybe the best album name of 2026, which will be released on September 11 via Nuclear Blast.

    The artwork looks like this:

Whilst the tracklisting is more like this:

    02. Dance to the Grave

    06. Together in Death
    07. Ozymandias
    08. Alostrael (Be My Babalon)
    09. To the Gallows Born

You will be able to catch the band celebrating the album’s release on tour across the UK and Europe later this year, with support coming from High On Fire and Gnome.

    Electric Light Orchestra Albums

Our Top 10 Electric Light Orchestra Albums list looks at one of our favorite classic rock bands born in the 1970s, fueled by the genius of Jeff Lynne. The group evolved out of another band called the Move. The group was formed in 1970 by musicians Jeff Lynne, Roy Wood, and Bev Bevan. Roy Wood would leave the band in 1972. Musician Richard Tandy would join the group that same year. Jeff Lynne and Richard Tandy would become the band’s longest-running members. Over time, it would become Jeff Lynne’s band, and he became the group’s face. Electric Light Orchestra released

  • I Did Not Have The Time Of My Life Watching Nimrods

I laughed exactly once while watching Green Day’s new movie Nimrods, which is dubiously billed as a comedy. It quacks like a comedy, anyway. Characters make outlandish, insanely dumb decisions that result in slapstick gags. They speak in what are clearly supposed to be funny voices. Various quasi-famous comedy types make cameos that are somehow too short and too long at the same time. I didn’t laugh at any of that. I did laugh, however, at the moment when all hope is lost and our teenage loser heroes appear to be heading back home to Kansas City, their dream of opening for Green Day unfulfilled, and the opening guitar notes from “Wake Me Up When September Ends” suddenly crashed their way onto the soundtrack like the Kool-Aid Man. I don’t think I was supposed to laugh at that, but it was pretty funny.

  • MURSKAUS Emerges From the Finnish Forests With Crushing, Doom-Tinged Heavy Metal on Self-Titled EP – @thebeast

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MURSKAUS Emerges From the Finnish Forests With Crushing, Doom-Tinged Heavy Metal on Self-Titled EP
Atmospheric Heavy Metal Project Announces November 13, 2026 Release While Looking Ahead to Future Full-Length Album

Straight from the dark forests of Ylöjärvi, Finland, MURSKAUS is stepping into the metal underground with a sound built on crushing riffs, oppressive atmospheres, dark lyrical themes, and a powerful balance between heaviness and melody.
Formed in late 2025, MURSKAUS is the solo project of Markus Vähäaho , who takes the unusual DIY approach of handling the project’s songwriting, all instruments, vocals, and recording himself. The result is a deeply personal strain of atmospheric heavy metal infused with doom tones and an uncompromising sense of weight.
MURSKAUS will officially unleash its self-titled EP, Murskaus , on November 13, 2026 .
While the project carries the crushing force that fans of Conan and Pantera may appreciate alongside the dark atmosphere associated with Type O Negative , MURSKAUS isn’t interested in simply recreating the sound of its influences. Instead, the project allows its wide-ranging musical inspirations to breathe freely, creating something that stands on its own.

“MURSKAUS offers a unique musical approach that balances heaviness and melody. The heavy sections really need to sound heavy and menacing, while the melodic sections should feel heart-wrenchingly desolate. The band hasn’t set out to follow the path of any specific genre; instead, they’ve allowed their diverse influences to breathe freely and create a sound that’s uniquely their own.”

The self-titled EP was recorded by MURSKAUS, with Oskari Hakala-Rahko handling the mixing and MURSKAUS taking care of mastering. The EP’s cover artwork and logo were created by Matti Haapala .
    Tracklist

    Murskaus
    Tuomion Kellot
    Varjoissa Kuolleet Elävät
With the self-titled EP serving as the project’s introduction, MURSKAUS is already looking toward its next chapter. The project plans to begin recording its first full-length album in early 2027 and is currently seeking a record label interested in working with the project on its upcoming debut full-length.
At the same time, MURSKAUS is preparing to make the transition from the studio to the stage. While currently operating as a one-person project, the band intends to become an active live act with a full lineup in the near future.
For listeners looking for heavy metal that isn’t afraid to slow down, get dark, and let the riffs carry some serious weight, MURSKAUS is a name worth keeping on the radar.
    Murskaus arrives November 13, 2026 via DIY/self-release.
MURSKAUS is currently seeking label interest for its upcoming full-length album planned for recording in early 2027.

  • Green Lung Hijack The Airwaves With New Track ‘Black Magick Radio’

Green Lung Hijack The Airwaves With New Track ‘Black Magick Radio’

In the outlaw spirit of 1960s pirate radio, Green Lung have hijacked the airwaves to broadcast their own distinctive form of sonic propaganda. Turning the dial left and tuning into vintage influences from Lucifer’s Friend to Black Widow, new single ‘Black Magick Radio‘ traces the history of occult rock itself, as well as namechecking London proto-goth landmarks such as Le Macabre (a Soho cafe where you could ‘drink your coffee off a coffin’) and The Process Church of the Final Judgement (a pre-Manson cult based in Mayfair). A celebration of magickal rock through the ages and around the world, this new transmission will charm initiates and ipsissimi alike.

Black Magick Radio‘ is taken from Green Lung‘s upcoming studio record, Necropolitan, due out on Friday September 11th 2026. A monumental portrait of the power of nature over the dreams and dominion of humankind, Necropolitan is also a grand celebration of the occult lore and heavy music scene of the band’s birthplace, the city of London.

    Green Lung stated:

‘’Black Magick Radio’ is our love letter to occult rock itself, and a promise to spread its gospel as widely as we possibly can. All together now… Eko Eko Azarak, Eko Eko Zomelak…”

A video directed by Billy Howard Price premieres today, featuring a model suburban family rendered helpless in the radius of the song’s occult power.

On the week that Necropolitan is released, Green Lung will be visiting some selected record stores to sign vinyl and CDs, plus fans will have the chance for a photo op with their very own Goatwizard. Head to greenlung.co.uk for more details! And keep your eyes peeled for more events as we get closer to release…
