Ozzy Osbourne is stepping onto the grappling mats. A new officially licensed collaboration with Half Sumo, a New York combat culture brand, arrives Friday, Oct. 23, and includes the first jiu-jitsu apparel ever released under the Ozzy Osbourne name. The headliners are the “Crazy Train” No-Gi Set, a custom rashguard and shorts combo, and the “Prince Of Darkness” Streetwear Set. Early access signups are open now here.

Ozzy Osbourne‘s name has covered records, arena stages, festival posters and TV screens for more than 50 years. It now lands in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a fast-growing sport practiced in academies from Brooklyn to Birmingham to Rio de Janeiro. The family already has a foot in the door, as Jack Osbourne took up jiu-jitsu in his thirties, trains regularly and holds a purple belt. Every piece in the collection is designed to survive hard training and a lot of sweat.

Half Sumo argues that metal and jiu-jitsu share the same DNA. Outsiders built both, and both reward obsession, repetition and the stubborn habit of showing up when it hurts. Ozzy Osbourne fit that mold as a working-class kid from Aston, Birmingham, who helped invent heavy metal with Black Sabbath, reinvented himself as a solo star and spent a lifetime proving the doubters wrong. Founded in 2018, Half Sumo has built its identity around that same underdog who refuses to tap.

The collection arrives just over a year after Ozzy Osbourne‘s farewell “Back To The Beginning” show at Villa Park and his death in July 2025. It carries the approval of the Ozzy Osbourne estate and is pitched as a living tribute. Half Sumo runs the late singer’s imagery through its own style of Ukiyo-e-inspired artwork, Irezumi tattoo tradition and streetwear, with the goal of introducing a new generation of fighters to the Prince of Darkness and introducing the brand to metal fans.

“We both grew up as lifelong Ozzy fans,” said Half Sumo co-founders Luigi Scarcella and Alberto Marchetti. “Having the opportunity to collaborate on this project is a genuine honor for us and a way to celebrate his incredible legacy. Ozzy was the original underdog, and jiu-jitsu is built on that same spirit of the smaller person who refuses to quit.”

Here is what launches Friday, Oct. 23.

The “Crazy Train” No-Gi Set pairs a fully sublimated rashguard with matching grappling shorts, made for both training and competition. The rashguard is covered in red, purple and bone white artwork featuring skulls, bats, the classic Ozzy logo and nods to “Mr. Crowley,” “Bark At The Moon,” “No More Tears,” “War Pigs” and Blizzard Of Ozz, all hand-drawn in the Half Sumo illustration style. The shorts center on a giant purple bat-wing Ozzy logo over the same all-over art, with Half Sumo lettering running down the leg.

The “Prince Of Darkness” Streetwear Set is a limited run for life off the mats. The zip-up hoodie sports a bat-wing Ozzy emblem topped with the Half Sumo crest, while the graphic tees include a fanged, vampire-style Ozzysurrounded by bats, song titles and Japanese lettering. More items will be revealed at launch.

Everything is produced in strictly limited quantities with no restocks planned, so once it sells out, it is gone. Half Sumo has set up a dedicated landing page with the collaboration artwork, where fans can register for early access here.

The day after launch, Half Sumo will host an Ozzy-themed Halloween pop-up on Saturday, Oct. 24 at its headquarters, 247 Water Street in Brooklyn, N.Y. The full collection will be available to buy in person.

Marchetti and Scarcella founded Half Sumo in New York City in 2018 as an independent brand born on the mats and built around the culture, art and lifestyle surrounding them. Marchetti is a 4th-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under pioneer Renzo Gracie and a longtime presence in martial arts apparel and fashion. Scarcella is a three-time USA Full-Contact Kyokushin Karate Champion who represented the United States at the World Tournament in Tokyo in 2019 and 2023, and he is the artist behind the brand’s look.

The company also has deep roots in the community. During the pandemic, Scarcella designed custom gear for more than 100 academies worldwide, and all profits went to the academies, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for gyms from New York to Tokyo.

The brand’s visual style pulls from Irezumi, Ukiyo-e and Japanese folklore, plus Western iconography, tattoo culture, graffiti, street art and underground illustration, all filtered through its own contemporary lens. Its guiding idea is that technique beats size, and that David can still take down Goliath. Over the years, Half Sumo has teamed up with adidas, Coca-Cola, Megadeth, Netflix and others across martial arts, sports, music and pop culture.

Originally formed in 1979 in Helsinki by singer and multi-instrumentalist Michael Monroe, Finnish rock superstars Hanoi Rocks are proud to release The Complete Collection 1981-1984, a deluxe compilation of their influential first five studio albums, set for release November 13th via BMG.

Featuring the band’s much-fabled albums Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks (1981), Oriental Beat (2022 ‘The RE(AL)MIX’), Self Destruction Blues (1982), Back To Mystery City (1983), and Two Steps From the Move (1984), the 6LP and 6 CD set includes a bonus album comprised of rare and unreleased tracks, titled Motorvatin’!!!. The bonus album includes songs from rare BBC live sessions as well as never before heard demos.

To preview the set, the band has released the BBC recording of “Underwater World” on DSPs this week. Recorded that same year at the famous Maida Vale BBC Studios, Michael Monroe recalls the session…

“The BBC Session was recorded by Dale Griffin (‘Buffin’) who was the drummer of Mott The Hoople, one of our absolute favourite bands of all time. Him and Overend ‘Pete’ Watts had produced our previous album Back To Mystery City, since we couldn’t get Ian Hunter at the time, whom we’d asked first. However, when we were recording the Two Steps From The Move album, produced by Bob Ezrin, Bob brought Ian Hunter to the studio to write some lyrics for us, since Bob knew that we were huge Ian Hunter fans. We were of course totally thrilled about this and Ian was super cool, as expected.

He co-wrote 3 songs with us: ‘I Can’t Get It’, ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’, and ‘Underwater World’. After hearing the rough mixes of the songs, with the demo vocals, Ian said that he’d get back to us in about a week with his lyrics. However, he was so inspired by the songs that he wrote them all the same night when he got back home. So, the next day we got the lyrics written by Ian Hunter and they were absolutely brilliant! That was exactly what we needed and we were ecstatic about it.”

“At the time of the BBC session, the band was in a good place in many ways,” continues Monroe. “However, the substance abuse had increased quite a bit among the band and this surely has to do with the tempo of this version of ‘Underwater World’ since it’s incredibly slow! Haha, some of us must have been on some pretty heavy downers. I wish we would have speeded up the tempo a little bit in the mastering, but I guess it’s best to present the band just as it was – perfectly flawed at times. So, here it is for you to enjoy!”

The physical version of The Complete Collection 1981-1984 includes a 36-page photobook featuring many previously unseen and rare shots, as well as studio album art cards from Hanoi Rock’s legendary initial run as a band.
