Helsinki is getting a festival built around power metal. Power & Steel is an indoor winter event set for Nov. 5 and 6 at the Cable Factory next year, and the first round of bands was announced today.

Promoter Niko Viherlaiho says the festival was designed to go big from day one, in keeping with the genre. He points to the crowd of Finns that makes the trip to Denmark’s Epic Fest as proof that the demand is there.

“There has been demand for a power metal festival in Finland for quite some time. The large Finnish contingent at Denmark’s Epic Fest is a good example of that. We didn’t want to start small. As is customary in power metal, we’re going high and hard right from the beginning,” Viherlaiho explains.

Traditional heavy metal will share the bill with the power metal acts. Viherlaiho says that style is dear to a lot of the same fans and should also bring in a broader crowd.

More than 20 bands will play across the two days, and half of them are confirmed. Brazil’s Angra, active since 1991, tops the first wave and will play Finland for the first time. British veterans Tygers Of Pan Tang are also making their first appearance in the country. American band Virgin Steele joins them, along with Dawn Of Victory, the project of Italian vocalist Fabio Lione, who has sung for a long list of major names in the genre.

The rest of the international names include Boston symphonic metal band Seven Spires, Swedish act Insania, which formed in 1992, and Icelandic outfit Power Paladin, which reaches its 10th anniversary next year. Finland is represented by Metal De Facto, Dreamtale, Force Majeure and Strider.

Food and drink will be available on site, and the remaining bands will be revealed over the coming winter.

James Michael has a new band, and it was built a long way from the Sunset Strip. The multi-platinum songwriter, producer and voice of Sixx:A.M. moved from Los Angeles to Northern Ireland after years of writing, recording and touring, and the change of scenery reignited his drive to make music. The result is Lowlight Revelry.

Michael teamed up with guitarist Brian McCafferty and bassist Dixie Doherty to shape a batch of songs built on big melodies, emotionally loaded lyrics and modern rock production. McCafferty and Doherty brought their own influences into the mix, which gives Lowlight Revelry a sound of its own, separate from Michael‘s earlier work.

The debut album, No Time For Shooting Stars, looks at how quickly life passes, the choices people make along the way, and the case for making the most of the time available. For longtime followers of Michael and newcomers alike, the band works as both a continuation of his career and a fresh start.

Sixx:A.M. formed in 2007 as a passion project for Nikki Sixx, originally to record a companion soundtrack to his The New York Times best-selling memoir The Heroin Diaries. The band’s name comes from the last names of its three members: Sixx, D.J. Ashba and Michael. Over the years, the trio toured the world and scored a run of hit singles, among them “Life Is Beautiful,” “Stars,” “Lies Of The Beautiful People” and “Maybe It’s Time,” the last from Prayers For The Blessed. Sixx:A.M. announced a hiatus in 2021.

The band has landed three albums in the U.S. Billboard top 20. Its studio catalog includes The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack (2007), This Is Gonna Hurt (2011), Modern Vintage (2014), Prayers For The Damned and Prayers For The Blessed (both 2016), along with three EPs: X-Mas In Hell (2008), Life Is Beautiful (2008) and 7 (2011).

Texas Thrash Metal Veterans Continue Their Comeback as NoLifeTilMetal Records Prepares October 30 Vinyl Release

Texas thrash metal legends Gammacide , clients of Metal Devastation PR, have been featured by BraveWords in a new article spotlighting the upcoming limited-edition vinyl release of their comeback album, Toxic Mercenaries , arriving October 30, 2026, through NoLifeTilMetal Records.
The BraveWords feature covers the album’s upcoming vinyl editions, the band’s return to the metal scene, and the release of their first full-length collection of new material in more than 35 years.
Originally released on CD September 11, 2026, Toxic Mercenaries marks a major milestone for the Texas thrash veterans, who reunited to perform at Hell’s Heroes Festival in Houston in 2025. Following the overwhelming response to their return, the band went on to play an East Coast tour and shows in Mexico before entering the studio in January 2026 to record their first new music since their breakup in 1992.
Featuring eight new tracks, Toxic Mercenaries delivers the aggressive riffs, chaotic lead guitar work, punishing drums, and unmistakable vocals that have defined Gammacide’s sound. Songs including “Overload,” “Sinkhole,” “Predator Or Prey,” and “Soldier of Fear” showcase a band bringing its trademark thrash attack into a new era.
The upcoming vinyl release will be available in a limited-edition toxic neon-green pressing, with an even more limited Blood Moon red-and-black swirl edition available directly through NoLifeTilMetal Records.
The album’s artwork and layout were created by Scott Waters, whose design credits include Mortification, Lizzy Borden, Hades, Patriarchs in Black, and Anger As Art. Toxic Mercenaries was produced by Gammacide vocalist Varnam Ponville alongside David Treadway of DDTstudio Productions.
