(Here we have Daniel Barkasi’s review of the new album by Hulder, which is beging co-released today by 20 Buck Spin and Season of Mist.) As notoriety grows and more ears pique in a band’s direction, it can be especially challenging to determine where they may go when a new album rolls around. This scribe […]

Both Meshell Ndegeocello and Cat Power have long histories of reinterpreting and reshaping other people’s songs. Now, they’re doing it together. This fall, Ndegeocello will release her new album Synonym, a collection in which she teams with a fascinating array of collaborators to cover songs that, for the most part, everyone knows. The list of contributors includes ANOHNI, Chaka Khan, Nick Hakim, and (hey, look at that) Cat Power’s ex Bill Callahan, among many others. We already posted the lead single, a version of Aretha Franklin and George Michael’s “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)” that Ndegeocello recorded with Cynthia Erivo. Now we get to hear Ndegeocello and Cat Power take on a synthpop classic together.

After releasing collaborative records with Dis Fig and Intensive Care over the last couple of years, the Body have unveiled their latest team-up. Today, on my birthday, God and 12XU have smiled upon me by granting me news of a new Water Damage album. The large Austin band, masters of rhythm, drone, and repetition, are constantly kicking out fresh live recordings, and they seem to drop a studio album each year. But their prolific status doesn’t make the prospect of a new LP any less exciting.

Our Top 10 Crosby, Stills & Nash Songs list looks at one of the most legendary groups in classic rock history. Sometimes known as CSN but more often defined as Crosby, Stills & Nash, the group was a different band than the group that recorded and performed with Neil Young as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. The dynamics, the sound, the music, the spirit, and the performances were very much different when Neil Young was in the band. We are not going to say which was better or argue anything about that point; we are only making the stance that

Carly Rae Jepsen’s double album Day And Night is nearly a month away. We’ve already heard the singles “On Wires” and “After All.” Those two tracks gave a glimpse into the album’s day side and now we’re being introduced to the night. Today she’s returned with the ABBA-inspired single “Don’t Leave Me On The Dancefloor,” which is perfect if you’ve recently had the desperate need to rage-dance or sob while attempting solo choreography.

Our Complete List Of Fleetwood Mac Band Members looks at the three very distinct periods in which the band was fueled by a set of different musicians, with the only constant being Mick Fleetwood, along with the remarkably long tenures of John McVie and the late Christine McVie. Fleetwood Mac last toured in 2019. Christine McVie’s death in 2022 brought the band’s most recent active lineup to an end, although the surviving members continue to revisit the group’s extraordinary history through archival releases and an upcoming documentary. Mick Fleetwood – 1967–2022 Mick Fleetwood was the one and only constant member

The “Rubberz” saga continues. Since Medasin’s viral breakdown of Fenix Flexin’s big hit, the conversation around the single and the use of AI in music continues to spiral. A few days ago, Treblo, the AI software that helped birth “Rubberz” and its bizarre posh ’80s aesthetic, confirmed through their own vetting software that their program was used to make the song. Now, following months of avoidance around the AI accusations, Fenix Flexin has officially confirmed the use of AI.
