A new Purity Ring single? I’m not about to pass on that. As soon as Megan James’ voice beams into “lemonlime,” I’m locked in. It’s a long way from the eerie sound of Shrines, but there’s still something extraterrestrial about the way James’ voice moves amidst Corin Roddick’s synthetic computer-pop environment. They’re calling the sound…

New album Primal Repetition out today
Colombian quartet Argovia (Presagio Records), one of the most distinctive voices in Latin American progressive rock, have unveiled their newest single ‘Unstoppable’.
‘Unstoppable’ is the final glimpse of the band’s new album Primal Repetition, due tomorrow 10th April, marking a bold step forward in their evolving sonic identity.

Blending cinematic atmospheres, Latin American rhythmic influences and emotionally driven songwriting, Primal Repetition positions Argovia as one of the most distinctive emerging voices in the contemporary prog scene.
At its core, the album explores the tension between what we try to leave behind and what inevitably returns. Moving through themes of life, loss, healing and emotional memory, Primal Repetition questions whether we are capable of breaking the cycles that define us — or whether repetition itself becomes a form of reconstruction.
The album was developed over an 18-month production process, with key recording sessions taking place at Sandlane Recording Facilities in the Netherlands — known for its work with artists such as Epica, Ayreon, Anneke van Giersbergen and Floor Jansen — alongside additional production in Bogotá and Santiago.
Founded in 2013 by multi-instrumentalist Ani Guillén (guitars, drums, bass, vocals) and keyboardist/music producer Carlos Arminio, Argovia are a progressive rock band from Bogotá, Colombia. Hailed as one of the most promising acts in Latin American prog, they are poised to make their mark on the international scene. The band released their debut EP Lost Letters (2014), which earned them a nomination for EP of the Year at the Unión Rock Show awards. Three years later came their first full-length album Distant Present (2017), mastered by Tony Lindgren (Fascination Street Studios, Opeth, Leprous, Katatonia, and more). The record led them to tour several Colombian cities, including Cali and Medellín, and secured their participation in Prog in Motion 2017, the country’s only progressive rock festival.
In 2024, they released the EP Who We Are, which was mixed by Alejandro Londoño (Cultura Tres, Delain, Sepultura), mastered by Steve Kitch (The Pineapple Thief), and featuring drums by Felipe Candia (Aisles). With this release, the band moved away from symphonic and digital sounds, embracing a heavier, rawer, and more mature style, drawing inspiration from Riverside, The Gathering, VOLA, Steven Wilson, and Karnivool. The EP earned them an invitation to open for Norwegian band Circus Maximus during their Bogotá show in September 2024. In addition, vocalist Ani Gillén participated in the choral recording of the song ‘Faceless’ for Leprous, included in their album Melodies of Atonement.
The current lineup features Ani Guillén, Carlos Arminio, Mauricio Sanabria (drums), and Nicolás Paredes (bass).
British guitarist, singer, and songwriter Billy Morrison says the filming of the video for “Becoming”—his new collaboration with Sully Erna (Godsmack) on lead vocals and Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme) on lead guitar—was nothing less than intense and, well, extreme.
“The ‘Becoming video’ is a pure performance video that utilizes the skill and aesthetic that our director Ivo Raza brings to the table,” begins Morrison. “Sully [Erna] and Nuno [Bettencourt] both travelled to Los Angeles and we filmed in two locations: a rain room—where we shot for hours through a sheet of water!!—and a disused warehouse in South L.A. with a backdrop of a wall of lights. I added Erik Eldenius on drums, who played on the song, and Brett Scallions on bass, a co-writer on the song, and we used ghost lenses and other distortion techniques to represent the transition through the song that Sully’s lyrics talk about.
“The shoot was hot, sweaty and very long, and every person, band and crew alike could not have been more accommodating,” he continues. “The goal was to make a kick-ass rock video and we achieved that and much more!!”
“Becoming” arrived at radio on March 27 as the first single from Morrison’s upcoming album Hollow due out sometime in August via TLG | ZOID/Virgin Music Group. The powerhouse track was written by Morrison, Sully Erna, and Brett Scallions.
According to Morrison, “Becoming” is about “transforming out of the darkness and negativity of certain lifestyle choices and becoming a strong, positive and powerful force. For an in-depth description, you would have to ask Sully about the lyrics that he wrote.”
Two years ago, Billy Morrison released The Morrison Project via TLG | ZOID/Virgin Music Group. It marked his third solo album (and first since 2015) and produced the #1 Active Rock Song (Mediabase) in America: “Crack Cocaine” featuring Ozzy Osbourne and Steve Stevens and co-written by all three artists. A deluxe edition of the album followed in 2025 and bonus track, “Gods Of Rock and Roll (Orchestral)”—another seismic collaboration with Osbourne and Stevens—landed in the Active Rock Top Ten (Mediabase).
The upcoming Hollow will follow the success of 2024’s The Morrison Project format with 12 songs, half sung by Morrison and half sung by a handful of ‘MORRISON’s‘s friends. Guests include Dexter Holland, Marilyn Manson, Chuck D, B Real, Duff McKagan, Steve Stevens, DMC, and the above-mentioned Sully Erna and Nuno Bettencourt, among others. “Forgive Me,” “The Tailor,” “No Suspects,” “Another Day,” “Leave No Trace,” and “Becoming” are among the song titles.
Billy Morrison is a British guitarist, singer, and songwriter, widely known as Billy Idol’s rhythm guitar player for the past 17 years alongside lead guitarist Steve Stevens. He is also a solo recording artist in his right having released three albums. Morrison is also a former member of The Cult and Circus Diablo and currently also performs with the superstar cover band known as The Royal Machines. In addition, Morrison is a contemporary fine artist whose Warhol-inspired work has been shown at top galleries. He also has a regular show, “Influenced,” on SiriusXM’s Ozzy’s Boneyard (ch. 38), where he delves deep into the dynamic relationship between art and music.

“Powerful entities are incentivized by manipulation, but the burden is endured by all”
Emerging rock powerhouse TIDALS are set to make a bold statement with their electrifying new single “When Heroes Speak,” a soaring, emotionally charged anthem that captures the strength, courage, and influence of those who rise to lead in moments that matter most.
Blending cinematic rock intensity with heartfelt lyricism, “When Heroes Speak” stands as a powerful tribute to the voices that inspire change and the individuals who step forward when the world needs them most. The track explores themes of resilience, leadership, and the lasting impact of those willing to stand up for something greater than themselves.
From the opening notes, the song builds an atmosphere of anticipation before exploding into a dynamic wall of guitars, driving rhythms, and commanding vocals. The chorus rises with an anthemic force designed to echo in arenas, creating a sense of unity and purpose that resonates with listeners long after the song ends.
“The overall theme points to how manipulated the majority of the population is by powerful entities with nefarious intentions, and how through the pursuit of that delusion by who it incentivizes, the burden is ultimately endured by all.” – TIDALS
The single highlights TIDALS’ signature ability to merge powerful storytelling with expansive, modern rock production. With sweeping instrumentation and emotionally driven delivery, the band crafts a soundscape that feels both epic and deeply personal.
“When Heroes Speak” marks another important step forward for Tidals as they continue to gain attention for their cinematic sound and passionate songwriting. The band’s growing momentum reflects their dedication to creating music that connects with listeners on a deeper level — songs that inspire, challenge, and empower.
As the song builds toward its climactic finale, it leaves listeners with a powerful message: when heroes speak, people listen — and sometimes the world changes because of it.

Swedish prog band Port Noir are getting closer to releasing their highly-anticipated 5th studio album The Dark We Keep, out on May 15th. Since announcing the album in January, the trio has shared a number of breathtaking tracks from the album and today reveal the next glimpse into the new release with “Burst.”
“Burst” is the 5th single the band has released from their upcoming record and follows “Ebb and Flow”, “Complicated” , “Redshift”, and “Noir”.
The band comments on the new single:
“What if it all bursts? That question stayed with us while writing this track, and it naturally found its placeon The Dark We Keep. As a band, we kept coming back to the idea of what wechoose to hold onto. The things that only exist because we keep them in the dark. With ‘Burst’, it’s about reaching that point where holding on isn’t enough anymore. Abreaking point where everything we’ve kept contained starts to push outward. Onthis record, it sits right at that edge, where the weight finally turns into pressure, andyou can feel it about to give.“
