The post-punk and darkwave duo Black Rose Moves, returns with their most introspective single to date. If I Was Here, released on 20 March 2026, marks the band’s evolution toward a denser, more melancholic, and deeply cinematic sound.
Following their debut EP Death Dance (2025), the duo-Grant Leon and Mark Neat-explores a textured mid-tempo track. The song stands out with Neat’s enveloping basslines and Leon’s baritone vocals, culminating in a hypnotic chorus: “I can’t control this.”
“The song is about the ghost of a moment you can’t return to,” explains Grant Leon. “It represents that connection that, once lost, leaves only an echo; the realization that some emotions are simply beyond control.”
If I Was Here is now available on all streaming platforms and Bandcamp.
Hailing from Birmingham, Black Rose Moves has established itself as one of the strongest acts in the gothic scene, defining its identity through:
A balanced blend of sharp post-punk guitars and atmospheric darkwave synthesizers.
Their Line-up: Led by Mark Neat (composition, production, and multi-instrumentalist) and Grant Leon (vocals and lyrics).
It’s evolution: Since their first single Summer of Sorrow (2024), the band has moved from a raw, direct sound to more complex, atmospheric compositions focused on memory, loss, and introspection.

British doom metal outfit Godthrymm haven’t released a new album since 2023’s Distortions, but that’s all going to change pretty soon with the May 29 release of their newly announced record Projections. And if that bit of news isn’t enough to get you doom heads excited, the release of the album’s first single “Truth In My Own” surely will.
Set to be released through Profound Lore Records, Projections boasts six new tracks that’s sure to be heavy and doom-y as hell, if the lead single is any indication. Speaking of the album itself, frontman Hamish Glencross explained the emotional weight that went into its creation.
“On this new album we present to you songs that channel our passion, our sorrow, our love, our fury — the very essence that makes us who we are, and we hope you find some kindred reflection in yourselves on this journey. Our first album, Reflections, was a rekindling of our passion and fire for the music we love, the second album, Distortions, took that template and evolved it ever further with grandeur and vision. Projections takes everything that has brought us to this point and delves into our very musical souls with the appropriate introspection, diversity, and contrasts of our emotions that define us. This is who we are, and we project all of this through our new album.”
This album is the first one to include the band’s newly expanded lineup, which features Glencross on guitar and vocals, Shaun Taylor-Steels on drums, keyboardist and co-vocalist Catherine Glencross, bassist Bob Crolla, and new second guitarist Kris McLaughin.
Additionally, the new record features guest vocal spots from original English Dogs vocalist Adie Bailey and Xentrix vocalist Jay Walsh on “Trenches Deep,” as well as former My Dying Bride vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe appears on “Endure My Skin”.
When it comes to the album’s lead single “Truth In My Own,” Glencross said the choice to make it the public’s first taste of the new album just made sense.
“We picked ‘Truth In My Own’ as the lead single as it is the most fist clenching and head banging song on the album! Projections brings much contrast and diversity as we’ve pushed the sonic extremities of our sound, and we hope you enjoy this first very direct heavy metal song complete with a suitably frenetic video directed by the masterful Ash Pears. Cheers!”
Truth In My Own will be released on May 29 via Profound Lore Records, but you can preorder your copy today.

Spanish alternative metal band ANKOR has released their new single, “DANZO – Lying Ghost”, in collaboration with MAH (SiM), the vocalist of the Japanese band SiM, known for performing “The Rumbling”, the opening theme for the second part of the final season of Attack on Titan. This marks the first time both artists appear together on a single track, creating a unique fusion of styles and energy.
The song was composed by David Romeu, ANKOR’s guitarist and founding member, who also took charge of production and artistic direction, crafting a sound that is intense, melodic, and aggressive. Mixing and mastering were handled by Christoph Wieczorek at Sawdust Recordings, ensuring a polished finish that highlights every detail of the track.
The title “DANZO – Lying Ghost” evokes a dark and mysterious figure, in line with the song’s atmosphere and the official music video, filled with dramatic visuals and an intense aesthetic that reinforces the power of the track.
Musically, the single blends sharp riffs, heavy breakdowns, and MAH’s explosive energy, creating a striking contrast between ANKOR’s European alternative metal and the force of contemporary Japanese metal. Fans from both worlds—metal and anime—have welcomed the release enthusiastically, highlighting the remarkable chemistry between the artists.
