Trailblazing metal collective Metal Allegiance, comprised of Mark Menghi, Alex Skolnick, Mike Portnoy, and David Ellefson, has announced the next installment of their annual headline performance at Anaheim’s House of Blues on Thursday January 28, 2027. The evening is set to see Metal Allegiance joined by Fredrick Akesson (Opeth), Bobby Blitz (Overkill), John Bush (Armored Saint), Marty Friedman, Todd La Torre (Queensryche), Troy Sanders (Mastodon), Angel Vivaldi and more! Slipknot Told Eloy Casagrande: Don’t Be Joey Jordison

Eloy Casagrande says Shawn “Clown” Crahan told him on his first day in Slipknot that “you don’t have to be concerned about playing everything right,” and that the band made clear “they don’t want to have another Joey in the band.”

Casagrande has been Slipknot’s drummer since April 2024, when he left Sepultura after thirteen years and stepped into the seat Joey Jordison built and Jay Weinberg held for nine. Speaking to the Colombian radio station Radiónica, he described what the band actually asked of him. Clown’s instruction, from day one, was about “the soul of the band” and “the attitude, the energy,” not note-for-note accuracy.

He didn’t dodge the Jordison question. “It’s a very difficult thing to replace Joey,” he said. “Those are big shoes to fill in.” But the brief was never imitation: “They don’t want to have another Joey in the band. They want me to be myself.” Casagrande says Slipknot want personality and new ideas from their drummer, and that his own rule is to respect the drum arrangements rather than simply reproduce them.

The detail that matters for the next record is about rhythm. Early on, when Casagrande slipped Brazilian patterns into the spaces between songs, Clown shut it down with a line that, minus one word, was “This is a metal band.” By the time they were recording, Clown was asking for the Brazilian feel in the studio. “Nowadays, it’s totally fine,” Casagrande said.

Read that timeline. In 2024, keep the samba out. In 2026, put it in. That’s a band that hired a drummer and found out eighteen months later they’d hired a songwriter, and it lines up with Jim Root’s warning that the next album is “gonna hurt some feelings.” More on this in The Take.

Mötley Crüe Announce Eight-Night Caesars Palace Residency For 2027

Mötley Crüe will play eight shows at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas between March 19 and April 3, 2027, billed as “Carnival of Sins in Sin City,” with fan-voted setlists and presales beginning today, October 20.

The dates are March 19, 20, 24, 26, 27 and 31, and April 2 and 3. Fan club and Citi cardholder presales open today at 10 a.m. PT; Caesars Rewards and Live Nation presales follow on Thursday, October 22; general on-sale is Friday, October 23, all at 10 a.m. PT. A portion of proceeds goes to the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth.

This is the encore to The Return of the Carnival of Sins, the 33-date amphitheater tour with Tesla and Extreme that ran from July to late September, marking twenty years since the original 2005 Carnival of Sins run. It’s also the band’s second Vegas residency in eighteen months, after last fall’s stand at Dolby Live at Park MGM. Since then, an arbitrator ruled against Mick Mars across the board in January, finding the miming allegations false and ordering him to repay part of a $1.5 million advance for shows he didn’t play. John 5 remains on guitar.

The Colosseum holds about 4,100 people, so eight nights is roughly 33,000 tickets: one stadium show stretched across two weeks with a hotel attached, which is the sensible play for a band that doesn’t want to live on a bus. The fan-voted setlist is the real news. Give Crüe fans the ballot and this run will have more Too Fast For Love and Shout At The Devil in it than any show since John 5 joined.

Papa Roach, Ice Nine Kills And Ninth Key Announce 30-Date 2027 US Tour

Papa Roach have added a 30-date US leg to the Rise of the Roach tour, running May 11, 2027 in Biloxi, Mississippi to June 27 in Auburn, Washington, with Ice Nine Kills in direct support and Ninth Key opening; presale is today and general on-sale is Friday, October 23.

The routing covers most of the country: Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Pine Knob outside Detroit, the Moody Center in Austin, Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Red Rocks on June 21, and the summer amphitheater circuit through the Southeast, Midwest, Texas, the Southwest and the Pacific Northwest. Ninth Key is the name to learn. The duo of Lø Spirit, a producer with platinum credits, and the rapper Ekoh launched independently at the start of 2026; their debut single “Happy Feels Like” reached the Active Rock top 10 inside six months, and at one point they held three songs on SiriusXM Octane’s Big ‘Uns chart simultaneously. Nu-metal with hip-hop and cinematic production, aimed squarely at people who miss early Linkin Park. Ice Nine Kills arrive with a Christmas EP and a third Silver Scream album on the way.

Read the bill as a sentence: Papa Roach, twenty-six years after Infest; the band that turned horror movies into a touring business; and an opener that didn’t exist twelve months ago, playing arenas off radio. The Infest crowd is in its forties and bringing its kids. Ninth Key is for the kids. It’s a smart bill.

The Take: “Don’t Play It Right” Is The Best Thing Slipknot Have Said In Years

Telling the new drummer not to worry about playing everything right sounds like a strange brief for a band with Slipknot’s catalog. It’s the most promising thing they’ve done since Joey left.

Jay Weinberg was a phenomenal drummer who played Joey Jordison’s parts better than almost anyone alive could, and for nine years the band sounded like an immaculate version of itself. Precision was never the problem; it was the ceiling. Then they hired a Brazilian who kept sneaking samba into the gaps, told him to stop, and changed their minds in the studio. That’s not a band preserving a legacy. That’s a band writing again.

The counter-argument arrives every time Joey’s name comes up, and it’s not nothing: Joey Jordison was the sound of Slipknot. The speed, the blasts, the way the first three records feel like they’re about to fly apart. Remove that and what’s left isn’t Slipknot.

But Joey never played it safe, either. The drumming on Iowa is a man ignoring every rule he’d been taught. Hiring someone to copy that is the opposite of what Joey did; hiring someone to break it the way Joey broke it, with his own accent, is the only honest tribute available. If the next record has Brazilian rhythms on it and it hurts some feelings, good. The last time Slipknot hurt feelings on purpose was 2001.
