Four minutes of riff and shout-along chorus over a song about waiting your whole life for something too ominous to picture… and what people do with a thing they can’t get their heads around.”

I love the pace and the mood of the song, energetic and catchy, with a perfect sound for the genre. There is only one person behind all the instruments so the performance is absolutely spot on. Dear Jane is a rock band from LA, and their new single “Be a Doll” is a big FU to the people who refuse to take no for an answer in a bar.

The song captures the frustration of unwanted attention and the exhaustion that comes with having your boundaries repeatedly ignored. There’s nothing wrong with being polite and setting boundaries, but once those boundaries are crossed, there’s no reason to keep playing nice. At its core, “Be a Doll” is about taking ownership of your voice and telling that person to simply leave you alone.

I love the energy and mood of the song. There are no unnecessary frills, just catchy vocal lines, a super-solid rhythm section and some genuinely inspired guitar work. Teddy McGraw’s Into The Night blends alternative rock with a restless, nocturnal atmosphere, turning the feeling of being trapped into something tense and increasingly urgent. The song builds around the image of a bedroom becoming almost claustrophobic, with the walls themselves taking on a threatening presence as the protagonist struggles against the feeling that everything is working against her. Guitar driven instrumentation gives the track its momentum, while the vocal delivery keeps the emotional focus close and personal. There is a strong contrast between the desire for freedom and the uncertainty that comes with finally escaping, with the darker consequences of that decision adding another layer to the story. OOTORO’s CHANEL brings a sleek, club focused sound that blends disco influences with tech house grooves and a heavier bass house edge. The production is built around a strong rhythmic foundation, with punchy low end and crisp electronic details giving the track plenty of physical energy. OOTORO keeps the arrangement tight and focused, allowing the groove to remain at the center while the disco elements add a playful sense of movement and character.
