“That’s a Smith & Wesson and you’ve had your six!”
Much like Professor Dent in Dr No, we have our six as well, though hopefully James Bond won’t have an issue.
I’m referring of course to the six M2TM South Wales Finalists who will take the stage at Day Of Wreckoning to not only play for a place at the pretty much sold out Bloodstock Festival but will also be there to showcase the talent of the South Wales music scene.
From over in the West side of things at Bunkhouse Swansea, it was a very tight hotlu debated show, with one band getting the fan vote it was up to the judges to choose between the other three and with nearly an hour of discussion they had finally made their choice.
Taking the fan vote as they have every time we’re Grindhorse83 who will surf the wave of weirdness to Newport, as the judges made sure that the heavy, technical sounds of Inscape and the anthemic modern metal of House Of Hosts were there to join them to represent the West side.
It was Manumit who unfortunately fell here but the fact that a band this talented and impressive didn’t get to Day Of Wreckoning shows just how good all the talent was on the night.
Over to East side now and it was a hot a sticky night at Green Rooms with four bands ready to do battle to get to Newport. Again fan votes were counted and the judges deliberated, agonising over every aspect to reach a decision all the while the crowd were drinking the bar dry (have to stay hydrated).
In the end though it was Excursia who managed to take the fan vote, yet again becoming a theme of their run while the judges thought that Disrupt The Continuum and Risperidrone were the acts that should join them at Day Of Wreckoning.
Unfortunately that meant that the bloodline of Blood Red Lips would not make it over the Newport threshold but they are certainly an entertaining hard rocking band and you should check them out as they held their own at every stage and getting better with every show.
So there we have it! Our six M2TM Finalists are:

They will be the first to play the Corn Exchange stage as they duke it out for a slot at Bloodstock, opening a multi venue day of brilliant music that will take over Newport, climaxing with a headline slot from the legendary The Wildhearts.
Boston Manor have announced a 10 year celebration of debut album ‘Be Nothing.’ including a special reworked version and a whole load of shows.

The ‘Be Nothing. 10 Year Anniversary Edition’ will arrive on August 14 via Pure Noise Records, shortly before the band hit the road across the UK and US to play the album in full for the very first time.
The album’s anniversary edition will feature some special acoustic reworkings, including one of the mighty ‘Lead Feet’.
That one’s out now, and you can take a listen below.
Speaking on what this anniversary means to them, bassist Dan Cunniff has shared:
“For me; writing and recording Be Nothing. was one of the most exciting things we had done at that time. Doing the “band thing” for many years previous to Boston Manor, I’d always wanted to be involved in writing a full length record but never had the opportunity to do it properly. So by the time the opportunity came round, I felt like we were all hyper focused on what we wanted to achieve and also keeping in mind what this record would sound like in 10 years from that point. That being said; I think we achieved our goals with Be Nothing. because I believe this record holds up even today 10 years on. The record did more than we thought it would do for us. It opened up so many doors, especially in the touring world. Having the opportunity to travel all around the world because of one record is pretty insane!
“Off the back of the release we announced Boston Manor’s first ever UK/EU headline tour (which we were shi**ing ourselves over btw) and to our amazement the shows all sold out. And I feel like at that point it was only the beginning for our band. be nothing. gave us the confidence that we can be a “real” band after all.”
Now for those all-important live dates.

Nothing But Thieves have shared all the details of their upcoming fifth album, as well as news of a huge UK tour.
Following the arrival of raw, rallying single ‘Evolution’ last week, the band have announced that their latest full-length ‘Stray Dogs’ will arrive on September 25 via RCA Records/Sony Music.
The announcement follows a few days of cryptic goodness, after posters appeared in cities across the UK before the band played a secret show at Newcastle venue Think Tank under the name Stray Dogs.
Returning to Angelic Studios in Oxfordshire, the spot where they recorded their self-titled debut over a decade ago, ‘Stray Dogs’ feels like a love letter to the crazy journey Nothing But Thieves have been on together.
To celebrate that journey, they’ll also be hitting the road for some huge shows across the UK and Ireland in 2027.
Their biggest headline tour yet, it will include stops at Manchester’s Co-Op Live and London’s O2 Arena.
