Australian Heavy alt-Metal artist Maple’s Pet Dinosaur has signed a global deal with Warner Music Australia and In Bloom, alongside releasing new single Child’s Play. The track is the title song from the 15-year-old artist’s debut EP, Child’s Play, which will be released on 30 October.
“Signing a global deal with Warner and In Bloom ahead of my debut EP Child’s Play is a dream come true,” Maple said. “Dan and the team at Warner in Australia have confidently empowered my creative vision and process at home, while Johnny’s A&R chops and personal support, coupled with his team at In Bloom’s global footprint, puts me in a great position to spread the project internationally.
“I’m genuinely grateful for this level of belief from one of the best labels in the world, and I can’t wait to see what we will be able to do together. This will be fun!”
Johnny Minardi, SVP, A&R at Atlantic Music Group, said, “Maple’s music felt special from the very first listen. Thankfully, she had a handful of new songs that painted a complete picture of her unique creative vision.
“She’s a true force of nature, with a rare combination of talent, conviction and relentless drive. We’re thrilled to help bring the world of Maple’s Pet Dinosaur to many, many more people.”
Child’s Play
Written from Maple’s perspective as a teenage girl navigating adult and often male-dominated festival and club environments, Child’s Play opens with a detuned, discordant riff over drums by Dan Stivens of Ocean Sleeper. Maple moves from a rap-like cadence and sharp wordplay into a crescendo of vocal runs.
“I thought it would be fun to fuse Ariana Grande or Xtina-style vocal runs over something really dirty and Heavy,” Maple said. “I love exploring new ideas inside Heavy, alt-Metal or whatever people want to define my genre as.”
In less than a year, Maple has progressed from sharing DIY videos online to becoming one of Australia’s most discussed emerging rock artists. Her music combines Heavy ’90s alt-Metal riffs, emotive vocals and pointed lyrics with a warped VHS-horror visual style.
Her breakthrough came in August 2025 when the zero-budget video for debut single Lego, filmed on a Ring doorbell camera, went viral. It generated more than 55 million Instagram views, over one million TikTok likes and millions of additional YouTube views.
“I was offered so many opportunities to rinse the doorbell video, fly to the US for talk shows and stuff like that, but that video was only ever meant to be a gateway for gigs,” Maple said. “I’m not trying to be a celebrity or influencer. I want to be a rock singer, and the best way to do that is by playing shows.”
Maple’s Pet Dinosaur performed her third show at SXSW Sydney and later became the youngest artist to appear at Good Things, sharing the festival bill with Tool and Weezer. Further appearances have included Groovin The Moo, Bass In The Grass and a confirmed place aboard the Hellbound Metal cruise. She has also signed with global talent agency CAA.
