  • Groupie – “Swan Song”

Frontwoman Ashley Kossakowski formed the New York-based band Groupie before she learned how to play her bass, and there’s a whole lot of steely-eyed determination in the band’s sound. Kossakowski and her band make big, bright, catchy alt-rock with a whole lot of hooks; I’d put their sound somewhere between Bully and the Beaches. They’ve…

  • HAWXX Announce New Album ‘The World Splits Open’

HAWXX have revealed everything you need to know about their upcoming second album, the follow-up to 2023’s ‘Earth, Spit, Blood and Bones’.

Titled ‘The World Splits Open’, it will be released on June 26.

Vocalist/guitarist Annouli Papadimitriou had this to say about what the record represents for them:

“This album is the rawest thing we’ve ever made. We spent three weeks living at Middlefarm Studios in Devon with our producer Pete Miles. Every song was recorded in a room all together, a process that brings out the fire of our stage performance, where we can absorb each other’s energy and capture real magic.”

The artwork looks a lot like this:

Whilst the tracklisting is a bit more like this:

    1. Resistance Is Justified
    2. Macho Bullshit
    3. Feral Mother
    4. We Are Nature
    5. Arm The Animals
    6. Bind
    7. Sacred Water
    8. Shrie
    9. Me Her And The Birds
    10. Be That Whore

As well as featuring previously released tracks ‘Resistance Is Justified’ and ‘Macho Bullshit’, the band have now released the third piece of their onslaught, and it’s a heavy one.

It’s ‘Feral Mother’, and at times it feels like the end of all things in musical form. A cacophony of blistering guitars and tribal calls, it’s a spiralling, savage, sensational, bold piece of metal storytelling, delivered with a passion and power that is as emotionally rousing as it is spiritually rallying.

Annouli had this to say, stating, “Feral Mother’ is our song of grief and loss. It’s about allowing the natural world to hold that raw, feral process;  the deep ache of loss, the rage, the hollow, the ritual, the release. Grieving is a part of loving deeply. It can feel like the whole world has turned against you, like you are completely alone in your pain. The trees, the songbirds, the rivers, the things that once gave you a sense of home have turned away from you. Until one day you feel a little more able to breathe, a little more space around your heart. A quiet voice reminds you of your place in this world and whispers that it’s time to let go.”

  • UP THE IRONS: Iron Maiden to Snub Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Because ‘Fans Come First’

    iron-maiden-2025-doc

In a move that surprises absolutely no one familiar with their “fans first” ethos, Iron Maiden has officially confirmed they will not attend their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year. Despite finally being welcomed into the Class of 2026 after decades of eligibility, the British heavy metal legends are choosing the stage over the trophy, proving that a “mausoleum in Cleveland” is no match for a live audience.

Why is Iron Maiden skipping the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?

The conflict comes down to a direct scheduling clash with the band’s 50th-anniversary world tour. The 2026 induction ceremony is set for November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. At that exact moment, Iron Maiden will be in Australia. With a massive performance in Melbourne on November 13 and a follow-up in Sydney on November 15, the logistics of attending the ceremony were physically impossible without canceling dates.

“As the most observant have already noticed, the band will be on tour in Australia,” manager Rod Smallwood told Billboard. “In accepting, Iron Maiden made it very clear to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame that the fans always come first and that the shows will, of course, go on.”

Bruce Dickinson on the “Mausoleum in Cleveland”

Iron Maiden’s relationship with the Hall has been famously frosty. Frontman Bruce Dickinson previously made headlines by calling the institution an “utter and complete load of bollocks,” famously stating that “Rock and roll music does not belong in a museum. It’s a living, breathing thing, and if you put it in a museum, then it’s dead.”

Despite the friction, the 2026 Class represents a major milestone for heavy music. Maiden is being inducted alongside a diverse group of legends, including:

    • Ozzy Osbourne (Solo)
    • Megadeth (Who happen to be supporting Maiden on the Australian tour)
    • Phil Collins
    • Oasis
    • Billy Idol

    TL;DR

Iron Maiden will officially skip the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on November 14. The band will be in the middle of their 50th-anniversary ‘Run For Your Lives’ tour in Australia. Manager Rod Smallwood confirmed that the band is prioritizing their fans and stadium dates over the industry event in Los Angeles.
