  • Bad Bad Hats & Party Nails Launch New Band Megasound, Announce Self-Titled Debut

New indie-pop supergrou alert! Since 2012, Kerry Alexander and Chris Hoge have been the main members of the cult-favorite Minneapolis group Bad Bad Hats. Last year, they released a 10th-anniversary version of their debut album Psychic Reader, with a bonus LP over other bands covering their stuff. Other bands were down to participate, and the list of contributors included Ratboys, the Front Bottoms, Hippo Campus, and Party Nails, the one-woman project from LA-based musician Elena Carroll. Now, Alexander, Hoge, and Carroll all have a new band together.

STORMKEEP Premiere Stunning “The Black Dragons Of Iswylm” Music Video Via Metal Injection Ahead Of New Album Release

Denver symphonic black metal visionaries STORMKEEP have unveiled their breathtaking new music video for “The Black Dragons Of Iswylm,” premiering exclusively through Metal Injection ahead of the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album, The Nocturnes Of Iswylm , arriving June 12 via Vesperian GmbH and Metal Blade Records. Go check it out here: https://metalinjection.net/video/premiere-stormkeep-drop-new-mythological-music-video-for-the-black-dragons-of-iswylm
Serving as the centerpiece single from the upcoming album, “The Black Dragons Of Iswylm” offers fans a powerful glimpse into the next chapter of STORMKEEP’s evolving fantasy-driven universe. More than just a music video, the visual presentation marks a major artistic leap for the band, bringing the mythical world of Iswylm to life in a way never before seen.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker and cinematographer Michael Ragen, the video delivers a cinematic experience worthy of the band’s expansive storytelling. Ragen is widely known for directing and editing The Stargate , the acclaimed 20-minute visual companion to Blood Incantation’s groundbreaking work, as well as his contributions to Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities: The Viewing . His signature style of immersive world-building, striking imagery, and atmospheric storytelling is on full display throughout the video.
For the first time, STORMKEEP fully embrace their visual identity by appearing on screen as the mythological characters that inhabit their fictional realm of Elda. Each member steps into their established persona, blurring the line between artist and legend while deepening the lore surrounding The Seer, the central figure of the band’s ongoing narrative.
The release serves as the perfect introduction to The Nocturnes Of Iswylm , a record that promises to expand the ambitious foundations laid by the band’s critically acclaimed debut, Tales Of Othertime . While continuing the story within the world of Elda, the new album ventures into darker and more introspective territory.
The band describes the album as an evolution of their “black metal symphonia,” combining majestic medieval atmospheres, fantasy-inspired storytelling, and sophisticated songwriting with a stronger emphasis on emotional depth and gothic influences. Rather than simply revisiting familiar territory, STORMKEEP have pushed beyond their established comfort zone, crafting a more dynamic, melodic, and nuanced listening experience while retaining the epic scope that has become their trademark.
Produced by STORMKEEP alongside Michael Zech, known for his work with Secrets Of The Moon, Dark Fortress, and The Ruins Of Beverast, the album was mastered by Arthur Rizk, whose resume includes Blood Incantation, Power Trip, and Worm. The visual presentation is equally impressive, featuring cover artwork from legendary artist Simon Bisley, complemented by additional artwork from Valnoir, whose portfolio includes collaborations with Ulver, Paradise Lost, and Amorphis.

The Nocturnes Of Iswylm Track Listing

    The Taste of Immortal Blood

    Saccharine Subjugation
    Imperious Sanguine Eroticism

With The Nocturnes Of Iswylm arriving June 12, STORMKEEP appear poised to solidify their position among the most imaginative and compelling forces in modern black metal. Fans of epic storytelling, symphonic grandeur, and immersive fantasy worlds will not want to miss this release.

    DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring Rocklust

Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil’s Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It’s not your average desert island and we’ll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil’s Island we find Rocklust sat on the beach. The island is far from their home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil’s Island?

    Find out now…

Welcome to The Razors’e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don’t worry about it’s name I’m sure it’s not as bad as that would suggest.

Rocklust: So… turns out the tour took a wrong turn and now we’re officially the house band of Devil’s Island. Not the worst crowd we’ve had, to be fair.

We’re Rocklust from Italy:born in 2023 when our drummer Alessandro decided it was time to stop playing other people’s songs and start making some noise of our own. One album later (Smoking Wheels), and somehow we’re shipwrecked.

You’re marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn’t live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

Francesco (vocals/harmonica): Genesis – The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway – If I’m losing my mind on an island, I want to be a character on this album plot.

Alessandro (drums): Black Sabbath – Vol.4 – It is the first album from my favourite band that I listened to: it just blew me away.

Andrea (guitar): Black Sabbath – Paranoid – Heavy riffs, dark vibes… basically the island’s soundtrack already.

Federico (bass): Billy Joel – The Stranger where craft, emotion, and identity all line up at the right moment

There’s also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What’s your tipple of choice?

Francesco: Michael Jackson – Dangerous because it was the first album I bought when I was a child.

Andrea: Symphony X – The Odyssey: it’s awesome, that’s it.

Alessandro: Black Sabbath – Black Sabbath: it is simple but uncunny, the colour palette makes it feels tainted with sickly atmosphere. That’s very in line with the birth of heavy metal. The figure of the woman is not clearly defined as good or evil: that ambiguity forces your brain to keep “working” on the image. It feels so real.

Federico: Herbie Hancock – Sex Tant: it perfectly matches the music strange, futuristic, and a little bit unsettling—in the best way.

There’s also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What’s your tipple of choice?

    Francesco: Tequila

    Alessandro: Guinness

    Andrea: Weiss beer

Federico: Red Ale beer – dependable, like a solid bass line

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?

Francesco: t-shirt from Genesis world tour 2007.

Alessandro: Black Sabbath T-shirt from “The End” tour.

    Andrea: Black Label Society t-shirt.

Federico: Mayhem t-shirt from their concert in Milan.

You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?

Honestly? As much as we love each other… being stuck here for eternity with just the band sounds like a punishment. We would’ve much preferred being shipwrecked with a bunch of stunning women. The island might still be hell, but it would definitely feel a lot more like paradise. Is it obvious? It’s rock n roll!

    DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring Rocklust

There’s a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

    Francesco: Genesis – Seconds out

Alessandro: Thin Lizzy – Live and Dangerous (drinking some good Guinness)

Andrea: Deep Purple – Made in Japan

Federico: Joni Mitchell – Shadows and Light.

You’re getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

Straight to Bruce Dickinson. He flies planes. We’re not overthinking this.

You’ve been stuck here a while and food supplies are running low. There’s only one thing for it… which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

Francesco: I sacrifice myself, I’m fatter and better to eat.

    Alessandro: Where’s Bruce Dickinson??

Andrea: I can’t sacrifice anyone, or else the group would fall apart, so we’ll all go hungry together.

Federico: I sharpened the axe in the meanwhile.

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

    Francesco: Peter Gabriel

Alessandro: John Bonham – master of groove and power on drums, and a simple man.

    Andrea: Ozzy Osbourne

Federico: Tony Iommi – riff god, no debate. A great man, a symbol of devotion to music.

  • Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds Kick Off European Tour With Live Rarities, Pogues Cover

On Wednesday night, Knick Cave — sorry. My head is elsewhere this morning. Nick Cave. You know I saw Nick Cave play Madison Square Garden once? The only time that the White Stripes played the world’s most famous arena was in 2007, and they booked Cave’s band Grinderman and the late country legend Porter Wagoner as their openers. That was a good night at the Garden. It probably wasn’t as good as last night at the Garden, but it was still good.

  • Allegaeon Drops Dark New Music Video

    – June 11th, 2026 –

Announces Flatline Fest Performance With Guitarist Adrian Bellue

Watch ALLEGAEON’s “Dark Matter Dynamics” video, shot by Kyle Lamar, HERE

Technical death metal artisans ALLEGAEON are pleased to present their “Dark Matter Dynamics” performance video. The track, which features guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Adrian Bellue, comes off the band’s most recent full-length, The Ossuary Lens, out now on Metal Blade Records.

Comments guitarist Greg Burgess, “‘Dark Matter Dynamics’ is a very special song for me. Having the opportunity to explore my love for steel string acoustic music, and bringing it into the fold with ALLEGAEON, will forever be a source of pride. Not only that but exploring this marriage of two styles with an acoustic heavy weight Adrian Bellue was equally special.”

Adds vocalist Ezra Haynes, “‘Dark Matter Dynamics’ is here and I am pumped! Over recent years, we’ve grown close with our good buddy, Adrian Bellue, and I’m thankful Greg introduced us! He rips on the guitar and he’s an even better friend. We’re especially excited to play ‘Dark Matter Dynamics’ Saturday night at Flatline Fest in Denver with Adrian himself!

The chorus gets me hyped! I think it’s the most jump-worthy ALLEGAEON riff ever written! This song has that classic, science-based ALLEGAEON vibe and theme, and it sonically showcases the album’s range, letting the track breathe with a soulful, atmospheric instrumental piece that contrasts perfectly with the heavy riffs surrounding it. Please enjoy ‘Dark Matter Dynamics.’

The video comes in advance of the band’s upcoming performance at this year’s Flatline Fest in Denver, Colorado this weekend alongside labelmates Cattle Decapitation, The Zenith Passage, and more!

    ALLEGAEON Live:
6/15/2026 Flatline Fest – Denver, CO

The Ossuary Lens serves as ALLEGAEON‘s seventh full-length overall, but it’s the first to feature the return of original vocalist Ezra Haynes since his 2015 departure following the Elements Of The Infinite album. The record was recorded with producer Dave Otero at Flatline Audio studio in Denver. It marks the sixth album recorded with Otero. It’s of no surprise then that the sound on The Ossuary Lens pummels the listener, though the ferocity is balanced by the overt melodies. It’s the most triumphant and cohesive body of work that they’ve ever laid down.

Haynes’ presence has an immediate effect, his more gravelly vocal adding further extremity to ALLEGAEON’s hyper-technical form of death metal,” wrote Consequence upon hearing lead single, “Driftwood.” Decibel Magazine called the record, “a fine listen if you want tech-death that doesn’t require a master’s degree in engineering to enjoy… They take a maximalist approach, their mix of rapid-fire riffs, symphonic keyboards, and zero-g drumming crushing songs like ‘Chaos Theory’ and the black metal-edged ‘Dies Irae’ between walls of sound.” Rock Hard Germany commended, “some of their most technically spectacular numbers. Audacious, successful…,” while Blabbermouth crowned it, “an astonishing piece of work.”
