Today, Swedish metal powerhouse Eleine drops their new single and music video “Ich Sehe Dich,” taken from their highly anticipated fifth studio album, The Water Taste Of Blood, arriving December 4th via Algoth Records / Sound Pollution.

Where previous singles painted the picture of falling empires of lies, betrayal, and the damage left in their wake, “Ich Sehe Dich” brings the reckoning face-to-face as the most direct statement from the upcoming album. The song thrives on the striking contrast of beautifully melodic verses that steadily build tension until heavy, static, chuggy riffs shatter the calm and a three-word German chorus lands like a verdict: “Ich Sehe Dich.” I see you.

Standing shoulder to shoulder with the Eleine Legion’s favorite “Mein Herz Brennt,” the track is stern, heavy, and unapologetic. It unmasks manipulation and toxic shame, written for the exact moment you stop letting someone’s lies shape you and the people around you. Unflinching and brutal, it cuts straight through deceit, unveiling an intense, powerful new dimension in Eleine’s signature sound.

In Eleine’s own words: “Have you ever wanted to say ‘I see you’ straight to the face of someone who tries to hurt you, or others, through spreading lies? ‘Ich Sehe Dich’ is about that exact moment. Yet again, another chorus of ours felt so natural to have in another language. The words fell perfectly into place and emphasizes the heaviness of the message within the song.”

The new Trivium album is called Crown In The Grave, it’s out November 20 on Roadrunner Records, and its title track arrived today with a video set in a smoke-filled dojo. The band’s eleventh record was built on Akira Kurosawa’s Throne Of Blood, the 1957 film that moved Macbeth to feudal Japan, and on the Japanese ghost cinema of the fifties, sixties and seventies. It’s produced by Josh Wilbur, mixed by Jacob Hansen, and it’s the first Trivium album with Alex Rüdinger as a full member.

The Title Track

‘Crown In The Grave’ the song does what Trivium do when they’re confident: it builds from layered riffs into something heavy and melodic at once, with the three-tiered vocal attack (Matt Heafy’s clean, his scream and Corey Beaulieu’s backing) stacked on the chorus. It’s the second track on the album, right after the opener ‘Jorōgumo’, and it sounds like a band that stopped second-guessing itself.

The video, directed by Pavel Trebukhin, is Noh theatre by way of the apocalypse: masked figures in a smoke-filled dojo preparing for a showdown, carrying the album’s artwork and its story into motion. It’s the clearest statement of the record’s world Trivium have put out, and it’s embedded at the bottom of this page.

What Crown In The Grave Is About

Paolo Gregoletto brought Throne Of Blood to the band, and the album grew out of it: a feudal-Japan Macbeth, Japanese horror from the 1950s to the 1970s, and a darker, ghostlier atmosphere than anything on the ten Trivium records before it.

‘We also wanted the record to exist within its own world,’ Gregoletto said. The idea was to honour what Trivium have been without living in it, and push into new ground. For the songwriting references he named a different decade entirely: Metallica’s Black Album, Megadeth’s Countdown To Extinction and Soundgarden’s Superunknown, the nineties records that put the chorus first and made every song relatable.

Corey Beaulieu’s line is the one the band will be quoting on tour: ‘We made the record we’d been dying to make.’ He also brought up something the late Soil guitarist Shaun Glass once told them, that Trivium ‘don’t cook the same meal’, meaning the same ingredients, never the same dish. For a band that has sat near the top of the metalcore conversation for twenty years, that’s the right brief.

Matt Heafy ‘Cleared The Plate’

Heafy says he stopped trying to be perfect at every show, started enjoying the experience, and credits therapy and a medication regimen with getting him there after a stretch of mental health struggles, injuries and anxiety.

‘I cleared the plate,’ he said. It’s unusual for a frontman to put that in an album announcement, and it changes how you hear the record: a band that spent years chasing precision deciding to chase feeling instead. The album was written and recorded at The Hangar, the band’s creative hub in Orlando, and it’s the first Trivium record written there from the ground up.

Josh Wilbur produced, returning after his earlier work with the band, and he’s the same Josh Wilbur who shaped Lamb Of God’s modern catalogue. Jacob Hansen, the Danish mixer behind a decade of Volbeat and Amaranthe records, mixed it, his first time working with Trivium.

Alex Rüdinger Is Finally Official

Alex Rüdinger officially joined Trivium in the studio during the making of Crown In The Grave, eleven years after he nearly took the job in 2015 and turned it down.

‘It happened when it was meant to,’ Heafy said, praising Rüdinger’s writing as much as his drumming. Rüdinger, known as Rüdi, has been one of the most in-demand technical drummers in metal through Whitechapel, Good Tiger and Intronaut, and the band say his contributions go beyond the kit. The drum chair has been the one unsettled thing about Trivium for a decade; this is the band saying it isn’t anymore.

A jorōgumo, for the curious, is a spider-woman of Japanese folklore who lures men to their deaths. As opening tracks go, it’s on theme.

The Tour

Trivium’s North American headline run with In Flames starts November 5 in St. Petersburg, Florida and ends December 19 in Charlotte, North Carolina, with Orbit Culture, Fit For An Autopsy and Frozen Soul on the bill.

That means the album comes out two weeks into the tour, so expect the new songs to appear in the set as the dates go on. The In Flames pairing is the strongest co-bill either band has had in years: In Flames have their own new record finished and a catalogue that built the Gothenburg sound, and Fit For An Autopsy are the heaviest thing on any arena bill this fall. Trivium’s last album was In The Court Of The Dragon in 2021, followed by the Struck Dead EP last fall, and ‘Betrayer’ earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance along the way. Five years between full-lengths is the longest gap of their career. If Crown In The Grave is the record they say it is, it’ll earn a place on any list of essential modern metalcore albums, and the title track suggests it might.

Mariusz Duda (ex-Riverside) has announced the line-up of the new incarnation of Lunatic Soul.
To date, Lunatic Soul has been exclusively a studio project.

Following the changes that took place earlier this year (when Duda decided to leave Riverside and focus exclusively on Lunatic Soul), it is now clear that the project is set to evolve into a full band.

Duda has shared a photo revealing the new quartet’s line-up, which sees him joined by guitarist Mateusz Owczarek (who previously made a guest appearance on “Wasteland” by Riverside, among other releases), keyboardist and music producer Michał Fox Król, and drummer Michał “Malina” Maliński.

The new full-band incarnation of Lunatic Soul, which Duda describes as combining his “two musical worlds to date with a completely new energy”, will make its debut in spring 2027 with a new album and…the first live shows in the project’s (now the band’s) history.

The upcoming new Lunatic Soul album will be released worldwide through InsideOutMusic.

Previously, Lunatic Soul’s latest, 8th studio album The World Under Unsun was released late October via InsideOutMusic.
