Blast Worship: Gadget
Where they from?
Gavle, Sweden. The New York Knicks are in the NBA Finals. Ben Stiller is excited, I’m excited too. Knowing the recent history of New York sports, they are bound to shit the bed at some point, but hey, it’s good to feel things once in a while. Why the hype?
Gadget have been on the Blast Worship radar — not to mention the general underground metal radar — for many a number of years now as one of the leading propagators of European grindcore and HM-2 worship. Think bands like Rotten Sound, Afgrund and their ilk. Gadget are very good at creating blistering maelstroms of grindage while also keeping things surprisingly melodic, albeit in only the darkest sense of that term. This is grindcore for grindcore purists, so don’t expect anything too flashy or technical but that’s not what we ask for from the Gadgets of the world. We ask for nothing but sheering shrapnel and sheering shrapnel alone.Latest release?
Coerced out now on De:Nihil Records. This is 13 minutes of hard-nosed grind although a solid five and a half of those come from an experimental noise penultimate track, so we’re really talking about around eight minutes of grind here. And boy is it worth it, as Gadget lacerates and satiates with only the most searing razor grind imaginable. Putting everyone on notice, one blast beat at a time. The post Blast Worship: Gadget appeared first on Decibel Magazine.

Clutter – “GirlVsHeart”
Clutter are a young indie band from Stockholm. All four members are about 21 years old, and they released their debut EP Loves You last year. In January, the band landed on our radar with the fun single “C.L.U.T.T.E.R.” Today, they follow that song with a bleary post-hardcore headrush called “GirlVsHeart.” It’s fast and sloppy,…

Leo Sayer Releases Another Career-Spanning Box Set
It’s not a good practice when a massive box set reprises an earlier one but, instead of building upon it to make fans and collectors replace a previous variant with another release, detracts from it, while adding something new. That’s … Continue reading
