Metallica has confirmed a series of new North American stadium dates that extend the band’s massive M72 World Tour into 2027. Having played 99 shows in 26 countries since its April 2023 kick-off, the Live Nation-promoted M72 World Tour will resume May 8, 2027 at BC Place in Vancouver – hitting a dozen new cities for the first time on this run throughout the American southwest, midwest and beyond – and will conclude June 19, 2027 at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.

Tickets for the newly announced shows will be available starting with the Fan Club pre-sales beginning on Monday, September 21 at 10am local time. Additional pre-sales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale beginning Friday, September 25 at 10am local time. From its launch in 2023 through its most recent two-night engagement July 3 and 5, 2025 at London Stadium, Metallica’s record-breaking M72 World Tour has been celebrated as among the best of the band’s 40+ years of traversing the globe, with nearly five million members of the Metallica family having attended. Hailed as “an altogether life-affirming experience” (Billboard), “impossible to leave unsatisfied” (Austin Chronicle), “a stone-cold stunner of a show” (Detroit News), and “as tight and furious as Metallica has sounded in ages” (Los Angeles Times), M72 will resume following Metallica’s Life Burns Faster residency at Sphere in Las Vegas, which will run from October 1, 2026 through March 13, 2027.

Support on M72’s 2027 North American run will come from Limp Bizkit and Avatar. See below for a full list of dates.

As always, a portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to local charities via the band’s All Within My Hands foundation. Established in 2017 as a way to give back to communities that have supported Metallica over the years, All Within My Hands (AWMH) is a non-profit, philanthropic organization conceived by the members and management of Metallica and dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services. Metallica covers all administrative costs, so 100% of donations go directly to the organizations supported by the Foundation.

Metallica isn’t done playing stadiums just yet. The band has locked in a fresh batch of North American dates, stretching the “M72” world tour into spring 2027 and bringing Limp Bizkit and Avatar along as support.

The trek kicks back off May 8, 2027 at BC Place in Vancouver, swinging through a dozen cities that haven’t hosted this run before across the southwest, midwest and beyond, before wrapping June 19, 2027 at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.

“M72” first launched in April 2023, and Metallica has since racked up 99 shows across 26 countries on it, with the tour’s most recent stop being a two-night stand at London Stadium on July 3 and 5, 2025. Somewhere north of five million fans have turned out for the run so far, and the reviews have been kind: Billboard called it, “an altogether life-affirming experience,” while Detroit News went with “a stone-cold stunner of a show.” Before the band gets back on the road, it’ll first settle in for the “Life Burns Faster” residency at Sphere in Las Vegas, running from October 1, 2026 through March 13, 2027.

Ticket access rolls out in stages. Fan club pre-sales open Monday, Sept. 21 at 10 a.m. local time, with additional pre-sales running throughout the week ahead of general on-sale Friday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. local time. Citi cardmembers get a shot through the Citi Entertainment program from Sept. 22 at 10 a.m. local time until Sept. 24 at 10 p.m. local time, and Verizon customers enrolled in the Verizon Shine loyalty program have their own presale window running the same Sept. 22 to Sept. 24 stretch.

As with the rest of the “M72” run, a cut of every ticket sold goes back into local communities via Metallica‘s All Within My Hands foundation. Since its founding in 2017, the nonprofit has handed out $19 million in grants through the Metallica Scholars Initiative, $8.8 million toward fighting food insecurity, and $6.2 million for disaster relief and other local needs, with Metallica covering all administrative costs so every dollar donated reaches the organizations it’s meant for.

Alberto Bravin says: “Back in March this year Ross played an acoustic solo set to open a warm-up show for us in Southampton before both we and Haken travelled to the USA to perform on board Cruise To The Edge. I’ve always been a Haken fan and we jumped at the opportunity to invite Ross to join us when we played Love Is The Light in Southampton. When I wrote the song originally I didn’t envisage it as a duet but performing it with Ross worked brilliantly. Ross was then able to guest with us again at the first of our two shows on Cruise To The Edge. We felt that this performance of the song was particularly special and were keen to make it available to everyone. Enjoy!”

Ross Jennings comments: “The moment I heard Judas Unrepentant from English Electric Part 1, I instantly became a Passenger on the Big Big Train and I’ve been on board for every station; every album; every up and down. After David Longdon sadly passed, I wondered if anyone could fill those big big boots. When Love Is The Light landed in my ears it was evident to me that Alberto was absolutely perfect for the band’s continuation. This track rapidly became a favourite of mine and a joy to watch live. Accepting an invitation to perform this song alongside Alberto and this incredible band was a no-brainer and an absolute pleasure for me. Something special was in the air on that Cruise performance and I’m so thrilled this ‘duet’ was captured!”

Big Big Train will play a warm-up show on Thursday 24^th September 2026 at Thornden Hall in Eastleigh, UK to kick off The Woodcut & Other Stories tour. 

This will be the first of 19 shows across the UK and Europe this autumn where the band will play this year’s acclaimed Woodcut album in full as well as over an hour of other material from their extensive back catalogue.

When used properly, clichés are memetic concepts that define a baseline as quickly as possible. They tell so that one doesn’t waste their breath and can conserve energy to show what’s important. That’s the effect Fvneral Fvkk aim for by beginning their new single “The Beasts of Speyer,” from their upcoming sophomore record Indecent Idols, with “forgive me father, for I have sinned.” On the track, which we’re premiering today, the German doom band seeks repentance. Glum doom metal with Catholic overtones is the game here, and Fvneral Fvkk somehow resist buckling under the weight. Simon Schorneck bears the heaviest burden. His vocals animate the track, with the rest of the instrumentation supporting his crisis rather than staking out on their own. Schorneck’s lachrymose delivery makes good use of cliché, turning those familiar opening words into a recognizable yet honest confession. Last year, towering figure David Byrne signed to Matador and released Who Is The Sky?, his first album in seven years. Byrne recorded the LP with Harry Styles collaborator Kid Harpoon, and it included collaborations with people like Hayley Williams and St. Vincent. Since that record came out, Byrne has been awfully busy, touring with a mesmerizing, elaborate new live show. He covered Olivia Rodrigo. He wrote a new song of nothing but Elon Musk quotes. Today, he releases a Who Is The Sky? deluxe edition that adds four tracks.
