San Francisco-based Hana Freed records electronic indie pop (sorry, make that “emotional computer core”) as Tricky FM. She’ll be dropping her new album Twin Star Fantasy this fall, and as today’s single “Sugar In My Drink” demonstrates, you’d be wise to pay attention. The song’s blend of misty synths, kinetic breakbeats, and breathy, holographic vocals is a bit like ear crossed with early Grimes — a chilly endorphin rush ideal for sipping some ice water while fending off the sweltering temperatures enveloping the United States right now.
