Few bands in the modern heavy landscape possess the ability to weave sonic tapestries as intricate and expansive as Elder. Today, the progressive psych-metal titans have officially unveiled the details for their highly anticipated new studio album, titled “Through Zero”, scheduled for release on May 29, 2026, via Stickman Records and Blues Funeral Recordings.
Following the monumental success of 2022’s Innate Passage, Elder continues their journey into the unknown. “Through Zero” is described as a sonic exploration of the void, blending their signature heavy riffs with increasingly complex psychedelic soundscapes and krautrock-influenced rhythms. The title track, which dropped earlier today, is a sprawling 9-minute epic that showcases a band at the height of their creative powers.
A Journey Across the Continents
Accompanying the album announcement is the confirmation of a massive North American and European headlining tour throughout 2026. Elder has long been hailed as one of the most formidable live acts in the genre, and this tour promises to be their most ambitious production to date, featuring extended sets and immersive visual displays.
“We’ve spent the last two years dissecting our sound and pushing ourselves into territories we’ve never explored before,” the band shared in an official statement. “Through Zero is about the beauty found in the empty spaces, and we can’t wait to bring these new movements to the stage.”
With pre-orders now live and a world tour on the horizon, 2026 is shaping up to be the year of Elder. For fans of progressive mastery and heavy psychedelia, the wait for Through Zero is almost over.
You may have heard the extremely exciting news that Times New Viking are back, but that doesn’t mean Adam Elliott is shutting down his post-TNV band Long Odds. In fact, that crew has a new LP in the queue. The Dry Land, the follow-up to 2022’s Fine Thread, is dropping in July. Long Odds knocked…
Wesley Eisold is always getting into interesting situations, like suing WWE. Last night, the Cold Cave/American Nightmare leader hung out with Harrison Ford/Han Solo at the actor’s Glenmorangie launch/Tony Hawk’s birthday party, along with photographer Atiba Jefferson’s usual crew: Tim Robinson, Blake Anderson, and Sam Richardson. Eisold also just announced his first solo performances.

Since their debut during the back half of the 80s, Pixies’ lesser-lit corners have always had a strange way of becoming central rooms in the house. The songs tucked away on flip sides and scattered singles from the band’s classic 4AD years were never mere leftovers; they were crooked little dispatches from the same fever dream that gave us Surfer Rosa, Doolittle, and Bossanova: surf rock gone septic, biblical Americana with a busted grin, noise-pop folding in on itself like a cheap motel Bible left out in the rain.
Continuing the band’s 40th anniversary celebrations, Complete B-Sides: 1988-97 by Pixies is being reissued 25 years after its initial release, out June 26, 2026. Newly remastered, the compilation will be available on double black vinyl, double clear vinyl, and double CD, marking the first time the collection has been officially pressed on vinyl.
Originally released on CD in 2001, while Pixies were almost a decade into their hiatus, Complete B-Sides gathered 19 tracks from the band’s 1988–1991 4AD era, including beloved off-road classics such as Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf), Into The White, Bailey’s Walk, and The Thing. Heard together, they form a kind of cracked mirror to the canonical albums: familiar faces at odd angles, all brine, bile, blasted humour, and strange grace.
For Complete B-Sides: 1988-97, the tracks have been remastered from the original analogue tapes by Kevin Vanbergen, completing his extensive work across the Pixies catalogue. The original tracklisting sits neatly across three sides of vinyl, while the fourth side adds six bonus live recordings drawn from later Pixies single releases, including the 1997 re-release of Debaser.
The reissue also arrives as a companion to the band’s recent Live at the BBC compilation reissue. Designer Chris Bigg of v23 has created new artwork using photographs from Simon Larbalestier’s archive, originally considered for Pixies use before being shelved. Both long-term collaborators worked across the two reissues in tandem, remembering and honouring the band’s late visual director, Vaughan Oliver, whose visual language remains inseparable from the strange charge of Pixies’ 4AD years.
Pixies’ Complete B-Sides: 1988-97 is out June 26th. For more information and to pre-order, head here.

Ahead of the release of her new single ‘voodoo’ on May 15, we spoke with Bailey Spinn. Read on as we discuss the creative direction behind the new track, balancing her signature identity with musical growth, navigating her digital presence, and the representation of women in modern rock.
Reuel
Hello Bailey! It’s a pleasure to chat with you. How are you doing?
Bailey Spinn
I’m doing great, thanks for chatting with me!
Reuel
You will be releasing your new single ‘voodoo’ in a few days. Given that your fans have grown used to feeling something unique with every single, what would you say is special about ‘voodoo’?
Bailey Spinn
‘voodoo’ is the next piece to revealing my new sound – much darker rock. This song encapsulates the feelings of an old friend or lover watching you, and copying things you may have done or said. ‘voodoo’ has an eerie, horror movie sentiment inspired by pictures like Annabelle. It has less of a romantic feel than my previous single ‘homicide,’ it’s the feeling of fear.
Reuel
Sounds very exciting! A year after releasing your debut album, you’ve established a distinct signature sound. How do you balance staying true to that identity while pushing yourself creatively so you don’t repeat yourself?
Bailey Spinn
I love to push the barriers of what I can put into my songs. I am a huge fan of metal music, but sadly cannot fry scream yet, so I lean as far into a heavier sound as possible. I always enjoy trying new sounds that may be more electronic, pop, or shoegaze while adding metal elements to make it my own. When I’m listening back to new songs, I like to make sure they don’t sound similar to any other singles I have, and it’s something I like to keep in mind while writing. I’m always listening to different genres so I find it easy to get inspired in new ways!
Reuel
‘voodoo’ is about a very relatable situation most people have been through. What usually inspires the topics you choose to write music about?
Bailey Spinn
I like to write songs about experiences I’ve had in my real life, and ‘voodoo’ is a true story about a bad friend. I pull inspiration from relationships, past situations, or things I’m currently going through. ‘voodoo’ came from a place of frustration with an old friend making fun of me, making small digs online that I had seen. I like to put my feelings into songs to help myself move on from it.

Reuel
How would you describe ‘voodoo’ using only emojis?
Bailey Spinn
Reuel
In an alternative reality where humans taste music instead of hearing it, what food would your music taste like?
Bailey Spinn
I think my music would taste like Warheads sour candy, it’s shocking at first, but great once you give it a chance. A little sour and unexpected!
Reuel
Today’s musicians have to balance managing their digital presence with being musicians, which is time-consuming but allows for a closer connection with fans. From your POV as a musician, do these advantages outweigh the time and effort required?
Bailey Spinn
I definitely think the advantages outweigh the time and effort required to post online. I love connecting with my fans every single day and sharing new things I’ve been working on easily. Social media is a way to connect with people in real time. I’m always grateful I was able to build such a loyal fan base online because they’re so supportive. To me posting on social media never feels like a burden, it’s so cool to chat with my supporters! It’s never been easier to share with fans while also gaining new ones.
Reuel
Amazing! Which musicians and bands were your biggest inspirations growing up?
Bailey Spinn
I was always hugely inspired by Paramore, Arctic Monkeys, and blackbear growing up. Paramore was the first band I was ever a mega-fan of, I saw them live and almost burst into tears. I am still heavily inspired by their earlier albums. When I started making music I was really into blackbear’s pop-rock album called ‘In Loving Memory.’ A few songs on my first EP were directly inspired by tracks from the album. I’ve also always been a huge Evanescence fan, Amy Lee is my favorite vocalist of all time!

Great names! What are your thoughts on how women are represented in music today, and what do you think can be done to promote more inclusivity and support for female musicians?
Bailey Spinn
In the rock space specifically, I think we need to see more female rock musicians playing festivals. There’s always an uneven ratio of male to female acts when there are so many incredible women that would kill the festival stage. I think women need to be equally represented in music today, they are often doubted or pushed down, but we are always just as capable. People are often hesitant to be accepting of women in rock spaces, even ignoring artists with female vocalists. Women’s music is for everyone, not just for other girls.
Reuel
So true! Thank you for your time, Bailey! Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Bailey Spinn
I can’t wait to see even more people around the U.S. on tour, hopefully I’ll be seeing some fans again soon! Everyone can expect a bigger project from me in just a couple months!
The song begins with an impressive arrangement of distorted guitars and a robust drum beat, transporting listeners back to the rock sounds of the 90s. This energetic opening lays the foundation for what follows. As the track progresses, it transitions into a melodic verse that evokes the unmistakable vibe of Oasis. There’s a familiar quality to the vocal delivery reminiscent of the Gallagher brothers, adding a layer of nostalgia to the experience.
The emotional palette of the song invites one to jump into a car and drive through the illuminated streets at night. It’s one of those tracks that encourages deep contemplation, allowing thoughts to drift away while the music plays on. The structure of the song is impeccably crafted, making every moment purposeful. The dynamics are particularly noteworthy, as the track flows between the introspective verses and the more energetic choruses.
The choruses provide a lift, building intensity without ever spiraling into excess. This balance keeps the atmosphere firmly rooted in an alternative rock aesthetic that remains contemplative throughout.
Under The Clocks – Sound and Atmosphere
In addition to the primary vocals, the background harmonies introduced at various points further broaden the sonic spectrum. These additional voices serve to enrich the overall composition, adding depth and texture to the song. They enhance the main vocal line in a way that brings listeners further into the music. The combination of these elements makes for a strong and emotionally resonant track.
Frederick James showcases his ability to blend different influences while crafting a unique vision. The nostalgic nods to the 90s rock scene blend well with modern elements, establishing a universal appeal. This track stands out not just for its reflective tone but also for its engaging musicality.
Under The Clocks – Performance and Production
Whether one is driving through a city or simply enjoying time at home, this song enhances the mood. Frederick James effectively captures a spirit of longing and exploration, making this single an essential addition to one’s playlist. The artful layering of the guitars, the steady rhythm, and the vocal performances all coalesce to create a memorable piece of music.
The album opens with an uplifting track titled “Bulles de soleil.” This song creates a joyous atmosphere reminiscent of light jazz. The classical guitar plays swiftly, with precise notes that uplift the mood. A rhythmic underpinning supports the melody, allowing the musicianship to flow seamlessly.
Following this vibrant introduction is “L’évidence,” which takes a more introspective approach. This piece is melodic and intense, drawing listeners into a reflective space. Its emotive undertones unfold elegantly, engaging the audience with its depth.
“Farandole” evokes images of a bucolic landscape. This track feels like a soundtrack, painting vivid scenes with its musical language. Certain lines remind one of medieval themes, reminiscent of troubadours from a bygone era. The melody feels nostalgic yet fresh, transporting listeners to another time and place.
Musiques de mon monde, vol.4 – Sound and Atmosphere
The track “Saveur vanille” brings an upbeat rhythm to the forefront. The incorporation of brass instruments enhances this lively song. It carries a distinctly folk feel with influences from Latin and African musical traditions. The infectious beat urges listeners to dance and celebrate life, embodying the joy of community gathering.
“Fête au faré” introduces a Balkan flair, reminiscent of a whimsical circus arriving in town. Wind instruments take center stage, delivering sly and ironic phrases. The interplay between the instruments is cheeky, with the guitar engaging playfully throughout the song. This track showcases a sense of humor and joyous abandon.
Another standout is “Sensolas.” This composition possesses the power to tell a story through just guitar and trumpet. It paints a picture of a woman navigating her daily tasks on a brisk morning. Despite the surrounding chaos, the morning remains serene, and the music beautifully captures this contrast in my opinion.
Musiques de mon monde, vol.4 – Performance and Production
The romantic “Pont des amours” shows the artist’s exceptional musical vision. This track is melodically rich and evocative, revealing a great sense of taste and style. The romantic vibes resonate deeply, enchanting listeners with its beauty.
In contrast, “Les oubliés” takes a more suspended approach. This jazz piece unfolds slowly, taking its time to develop. The cunning rhythm of the bass and guitar creates a thoughtful atmosphere. Notes descend like gentle rain, provoking reflection and introspection.
“Musiques de mon monde, vol. 4” is a fantastic instrumental album that immerses listeners in varied moods and experiences. It showcases a remarkable range of musical styles and emotional palettes, inviting everyone to explore its depths and beauty.
This is a collection of tracks that resonate with diverse feelings. Arnito captures the spirit of different cultures while showcasing his own unique voice. I highly recommend this album to anyone seeking an enriching musical experience.
Joyful and reflective interplay makes this album a treasure. It skillfully combines genres while delivering profound stories through sound. Each track unravels a different emotional layer, making this work memorable and engaging. Arnito has created an album that does not just entertain but also connects on a deeper level.
