THE AUTUMN AURORA Make Their Debut with ‘Plastic Altar’ – A Darkwave-Infused Journey Through Faith, Disillusion & Inner Awakening!

Available now on all digital platforms, “Plastic Altar” is the debut single from Italian post-punk/darkwave outfit THE AUTUMN AURORA, released via Volcano Records.

With this first release, the band introduces a deeply personal and emotionally charged sound, blending post-punk, darkwave and alternative rock into a dark, immersive and visceral sonic experience. “Plastic Altar” tells the story of a painful awakening — the moment when someone who has spent a lifetime kneeling before an altar, seeking miracles, answers and divine salvation, finally realizes that no one is coming to save them. The song unfolds as a reflection on faith, disillusionment and the need to stop searching outside for what must ultimately be found within. It is an invitation to reconnect with the divine as an inner force, rather than a desperate response to suffering. Musically, the track moves through suspended, twilight-soaked atmospheres, interrupted by sudden bursts of extreme fuzz-driven distortion and stripped-down minimalist passages, where delicate arpeggios carry the emotional weight of the vocals. The song constantly shifts between tension and release, building toward a central section openly inspired by doom metal, adding further depth and weight to its sonic landscape. To accompany the release, the band has also unveiled the official music video on YouTube — a visually intense and highly symbolic piece that expands on the song’s themes of alienation, conflict and transformation, fully embodying the band’s aesthetic and narrative vision.

The Autumn Aurora is an Italian post-punk/darkwave band with a distinctive and unconventional sonic identity, built around a rare lineup featuring two bass guitars, keyboards, drums and vocals. Through layered bass lines, synth-driven soundscapes and dark atmospheric textures, the band creates an immersive and magnetic world suspended between emotional tension, introspection and raw expressive power.

  • DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring The Venus Fly Trap

DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring The Venus Fly Trap

Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil’s Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It’s not your average desert island and we’ll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil’s Island we find The Venus Fly Trap sat on the beach. The island is far from their home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil’s Island?

    Find out now…

Welcome to The Razors’e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don’t worry about it’s name I’m sure it’s not as bad as that would suggest.

I guess its going to be a number of tunes Sea Shanties, Police – Message in a Bottle, Sex Pistols – Submission, more of a compilation mix tape to keep you from going nuts… Marsha Shaw – Wade in the Water, B52s – Rock Lobster… and think of your own…

Roxy Music – Country Life, to remind you of what you will be missing…

Mine would be a cool glass of lager i assume theres a fresh supply of water on this island otherwise it will be water.

T-shirt… Joy Division – Unknown pleasures sleeve design, black and white artwork.

Eternity… thats a very long time, so its going be have to be someone who is immortal. Maybe the Greek God Zeus, could be interesting.

SAHB – Live… Sensational Alex Harvey Band. It would have to be something that will get played a lot

I did mention The Police earlier, so sting as apparently he got a lot of messages in bottles so he would be the most qualified..

Theres only two members in the band myself and the guitarist, so thats going to be interesting..

Would have to be Lou Reed from the Velvet Underground, cool walk on wild side new yawk drole humour.
