The release of a new album by All Them Witches was not guaranteed. The Nashville-based band launched their latest studio album in 2020. • New Elder Out Now, And New Green Lung On The Way

    ELDER: THROUGH ZERO

The legendary Elder has just released another album, and it may be their best one so far.  Any Elder release is automatically an instant contender for album of the year, but this one is extra special.  Start with this, and then you know what to do to next.

Elder are originally from Massachusetts, and currently reside in Berlin.
Pretty sure you know this, but they are:
    Nick DiSalvo: Guitar, Vocals
    Jack Donovan: Bass
    Michael Risberg: Guitar, Keyboards
    Georg Edert: Drums

    GREEN LUNG: NECROPOLITAN

The only reason Green Lung’s “This Heathen Land” didn’t make my Best of 2023 list is that I didn’t purchase it until 2024.  It is now one of my favorite albums of all time, and I can’t wait to hear the rest of this when it’s released in September.  Until then, we’ve got this sweet track to get permanently stuck in our heads:

Green Lung are from London.  They are:

    Tom K. Templar: Vocals
    Scott Black: Guitar
    Joseph Ghast: Bass
    J. G. Wright: Keyboard
    Matt Wiseman: Drums

Jackie DeShannon Dusts Off Demos Other Artists Used

It’s almost impossible to overestimate Jackie DeShannon‘s influence on popular music, even though her achievements on this front remain understated, while the singer-songwriter’s connection to Jimmy Page would be enough to make her an important figure in that regard. Back … Continue reading

Mortem was originally known as the Norwegian cult band which preceded Arcturus. Formed by Marius Vold & Steinar Sverd Johnsen in 1989, Mortem was one of the first black metal bands to crawl out of the woodwork in Norway, releasing the highly coveted and brutal ‘Slow Death’ demo, with Euronymous & Dead of Mayhem acting as producer and cover artist respectively (whilst also featuring Hellhammer on session drums).

After the release of ‘Slow Death’, the band was laid to rest, with members going on to form and feature in acclaimed titans such as Arcturus and Thorns, both of which would become mainstays in the black metal scene and beyond.

It wasn’t until 2019, when Mortem’s studio debut ‘Ravnsvart’ was released, and the magic of old undoubtedly returned with that same spirit and brutality of the original incarnation, whilst injecting new elements to form an opus of ferocious yet atmospheric horror. This was followed soon after by the fully re-recorded and re-worked ‘Slow Death’ tracks.

Mørketid was recorded at Toproom Studio in Norway, by Børge Finnstad & Kevin Kleiven.

Mørketid will be released on 3rdJuly on oxblood red vinyl LP, black vinyl LP, CD and digitally. Pre-order here.

  • ANA Releases Symphonic Metal Album ‘Motivated By Death’

Australian symphonic metal band ANA has released their new full-length album, Motivated By Death, via Eclipse Records. The record arrived on May 29, 2026, delivering a dynamic mix of heavy instrumentation, soaring vocals, and dark cinematic atmospheres.

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, the group identifies their specific style as “couture metal,” a sophisticated take on the genre that balances high-fashion visual theatricality with punishing sonic precision. Fronted by vocalist Anna Khristenko, the band builds their sound on heavy rhythmic foundations and sharp guitar work, resulting in an unpredictable and aggressive musical experience.

Motivated By Death is currently available to stream and download across all major digital platforms. Exploring themes of mortality, vulnerability, and resilience, the new album serves as a bold introduction to the band’s expanding musical and visual universe.
